This document discusses the evolution of technology over time from the 1980s to present day. It outlines key technological advances for each decade such as the creation of the first home computer in the 1980s, the rise of pagers and the World Wide Web in the 1990s, and the release of the iPhone in 2007. The document then discusses how technology has changed how humans interact socially, with increased social media and smartphone use linked to rising mental health issues, less face-to-face interaction, and a more isolated society. Potential solutions proposed include reducing social media influence, improving cyberbullying prevention, and encouraging in-person social engagement.

Digital Wellness: Phones OFF, conversations ON 2019 - bagbybrand Juan Sanchez Bonet
This is the first collaborative paper with a focus on Digital Wellness and the benefits of unplugging from our digital devices.
The title "Phones OFF, Conversations ON" brings to life the idea of the need for unplugging and being present to have a real and deep conversation about this topic.
The format is very easy to digest and brings a personal and human perspective from top leaders and pioneers in the industry. We have carefully selected a diverse and enriching group of people from tech engineers, mindful teachers, entrepreneurs, to therapists, artists, writers and retreat owners, to share some key tips, what they are doing for the greater good and what is their vision of the industry in the next five years. Also, the people featured come from different parts of the world including, USA, Canada, UK, Australia, Italy, Netherlands and Switzerland. Along with their recommendations, this report features eye-popping pieces of research and stats to raise the awareness of a topic that is becoming the third biggest epidemic after sugar and cigarettes in the last fifty years.
The goal of this collaborative paper is to join forces to show the world how different people can work together towards a common objective. This goal goes beyond generating profit and can have a positive impact on people who, like us, went through a wake-up call, depression, a negative experience or who are trying launch an idea to make a change in the ultra-connected society we live in.

Grandma Likes My Facebook Status: Older Adults in the Digital Enterprise | Ix...Azmina Karimi
This presentation was made at IxDA 13' in Toronto. "My grandparents use Facebook" is not something we would have heard a couple of years ago. But today, it is more common than we may think. Though young adults are the heaviest users of social media, older adults aged 65+ are penetrating the digital and social sphere faster than we can imagine. In fact, they are the fastest growing demographic on Facebook.
Brands have no choice but to respond. Why is this happening, and what does this mean for us as innovators, strategists, and the culturally curious? This presentation will help us understand the digital practices of older adults, and opportunities it can create for the social and business models of our clients and brands.
This version of my Generation Z insight presentation was prepared for the Institute of Directors and so has some social innovation and cause specific insights towards the end. Some of the images are not my own, and their origins are unknown, if they are yours and you want them removed let me know.

“To be integrated is to feel secure, to feel connected.” The views and experi...AJHSSR Journal
ABSTRACT: Although a significant amount of literature exists on Morocco's migration policies and their
successes and failures since their implementation in 2014, there is limited research on the integration of subSaharan African children into schools. This paperis part of a Ph.D. research project that aims to fill this gap. It
reports the main findings of a study conducted with migrant children enrolled in two public schools in Rabat,
Morocco, exploring how integration is defined by the children themselves and identifying the obstacles that they
have encountered thus far. The following paper uses an inductive approach and primarily focuses on the
relationships of children with their teachers and peers as a key aspect of integration for students with a migration
background. The study has led to several crucial findings. It emphasizes the significance of speaking Colloquial
Moroccan Arabic (Darija) and being part of a community for effective integration. Moreover, it reveals that the
use of Modern Standard Arabic as the language of instruction in schools is a source of frustration for students,
indicating the need for language policy reform. The study underlines the importanceof considering the
children‟s agency when being integrated into mainstream public schools.

Improving Workplace Safety Performance in Malaysian SMEs: The Role of Safety ...AJHSSR Journal
ABSTRACT: In the Malaysian context, small and medium enterprises (SMEs) experience a significant
burden of workplace accidents. A consensus among scholars attributes a substantial portion of these incidents to
human factors, particularly unsafe behaviors. This study, conducted in Malaysia's northern region, specifically
targeted Safety and Health/Human Resource professionals within the manufacturing sector of SMEs. We
gathered a robust dataset comprising 107 responses through a meticulously designed self-administered
questionnaire. Employing advanced partial least squares-structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) techniques
with SmartPLS 3.2.9, we rigorously analyzed the data to scrutinize the intricate relationship between safety
behavior and safety performance. The research findings unequivocally underscore the palpable and
consequential impact of safety behavior variables, namely safety compliance and safety participation, on
improving safety performance indicators such as accidents, injuries, and property damages. These results
strongly validate research hypotheses. Consequently, this study highlights the pivotal significance of cultivating
safety behavior among employees, particularly in resource-constrained SME settings, as an essential step toward
enhancing workplace safety performance.

- Hybrid car invented
- iPods released in 2001
- Camera phones
- iTunes music store
- TIVO
- YouTube created
- iPhones released 2007
- Netflix becomes a household name
5. TECHNOLOGY NOW
Soon to be 7 generations of iPhones
Most people in Canada/US/Europe/China/etc. are connected through smart phones
Entire buildings run by technology
Artificial intelligence proven & used
Robots are taking more jobs every day
Children using social media
Social media now known to cause addiction
Children spend more time on phones & watching tv than interacting with people face to face
6. HOW IT EVOLVED
Technological advances used to be made to make things simpler, to create an easier way
to do something or a faster way.
Soon after realizing things could be easier, companies took advantage of humans natural
wish for laziness
Now companies make money off children by raising them to believe that all of life is easy
and they should not have to work for attention or love
People live off of media interaction rather than social interaction which I reality makes
them less interactive and more closed off to natural human contact
Illnesses such as anxiety, depression, OCD and addiction have skyrocketed since the
heavy use of social media, as well as bullying and self harm in children and young adults.
8. TECHNOLOGY IS DESTROYING THE QUALITY OF HUMAN INTERACTION
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u2V9-3ZwnIU
9. HOW DOES THIS AFFECT US?
Children are being raised less social and becoming more technologically inclined than socially inclined
Higher reports of social issues such as anxiety, depression, etc.
The world is being seen as a more social place even though people are actually more antisocial
Bullying is on the rise and has been since the creation of social media
Peoples lives are less private and anyone can tap into any technology to steal information
More cases of obesity due to a lack of physical action, thanks to social media addiction
Later down the road our health care system will bear the burden of a higher amount of health problems
in what will become our elderly one day
10. SYMBOLIC INTERACTIONISM
Our technological habits have a huge effect on symbolic interactionism.
People perceive the world entirely different thanks to social media and the
connectedness of our generation.
In some ways social media can make the world out to be a bad place, and in other
ways it can seem better than it ever was.
Depending on who you are on social media and who you associate with you may
perceive the world differently than everyone else.
Most people now see the world as cold and unsatisfying because of their instant
gratification attitude.
11. SYMBOLIC INTERACTIONISM
The next generation of people who grow up in
this social media frenzy will inevitably be much
less social than previous generations.
They will see the world as an unfriendly place
due to the volume of unpleasant news on social
websites and in turn delve more into isolation
masked with facebook friends and meaningless
‘likes’
Even though people will be more connected
they will be farther apart than ever before
12. SOLUTIONS
Society needs to put less value on social media attention
- All stores and large companies now have twitter, facebook, Instagram, etc. and give
exlcusive deals to social media users. This needs to stop.
There needs to be a better way to stop cyber bullying.
- There are more and more deaths every year due to cyber bullying, especially among
young teens.
Parents need to get off their phones and teach their children the value of face to face
interaction and how being social in public can be helpful and fun.
Society needs to stop shaming people for wanting to be social and friendly to
strangers or people in public.
13. SOLUTIONS
If nothing is done to try and combat the change in social interactionism that is
happening in the world then the future of humanity will be dull, sad and hard to
endure.
Schools will soon be scary and quiet places where children would rather spend recess
on their phones than playing with friends
People will also get significantly dumber by relying on their phones for the most
simple of information.
