Construction projects involve many complexities. Proper project planning and management are important to control costs, schedule, and quality. Contract types like lump sum contracts can help allocate risks between owners and contractors. New technologies and techniques can improve efficiency in areas like planning, materials management, and construction practices. Achieving greater efficiency through initiatives like improved planning, use of new technologies, listening to staff, and managing client expectations can help complete projects under budget and on schedule while generating more profits.

Saud Almutairi
Personal Essay
My name is Saud and I am 23 years old. I was born in a small town, Alomaq on 22 November 1989 in Saudi Arabia. Our family is made up of my father, mother, and a brother. I moved to Canada (Vancouver City) for the purpose of pursuing my studies. From Canada, I moved to the United States of America where I have been staying for the one year. My entire life has had a fair taste of good moments and challenges that I have always used as stepping blocks to my next level in life. Indeed, these challenges formed future reference sources for handling various impediments in my life.
On moving to Canada (Vancouver city) within a period of one a half years, I had already learnt the English language and therefore became bilingual. My experience with other cultures apart from my own Arabic traditional culture was indeed awesome. I met and made several friends from different races and ethnic groups. It has been fascinating to learn how different cultures handle various issues. It was a worthwhile experience to learn and respect religious orientations of different people.
Several but important milestones have happened in my life that has shaped my perception on life. First, maintaining a single status until my current age of 23. This is a decision that I personally made. From my younger years, I knew that for one to progress in life there is a need to make firm if not decisive decisions. My status has allowed me some freedoms that have eliminated some responsibilities in my life and therefore allowed me to focus on educational issues.
Second pursuing a degree in construction engineering has indeed been an incredible achievement. Completing such a course required immense resources in terms of finances, moral, and material support. In this regard, both my friends and parents played an important role in ensuring that my life story becomes a success. Being of Arabic origin, I have to admit that I faced various challenges from the onset with regard to communication and making friends both in college and within the neighborhood. However, being a normal and a quiet person, I was able to attract various friends than I had imagined of. Such a caliber has just made every aspect of my life enjoyable and memorable.
The third and most important milestone in my life has been with regard to my hobbies which majorly underlie reading and playing soccer. Through playing soccer, I participated in the community coaching children’s soccer. While in college, I joined the soccer club and assisted in improving the football standards. My desire to play soccer increased my chances of meeting and making new friends. Essentially, I believe that it is only through playing soccer that I can conduct my physical exercises. Besides, being an engineer, I enjoy reading various articles, journals, and books about new advancements specifically in the field of construction engineerin.

Essay on Little Women
Little Women, Louisa May Alcott
Book Theme: In the arduous journey from childhood to adulthood, a young woman is faced with two things that need great attention and balance the progress of her individual social standing, and the welfare of her immediate family.
Main Conflict: The book does not really follow the traditional single plot line characteristic of many stories (especially during the time it was written). Alcott illustrated the roads the four March girls Amy, Beth, Jo, and Meg take in their lives as they become young women. The storyline includes many mini conflicts, such as Jo s writing, or Beth s illness, or Laurie s inclination to love Jo despite Amy s affections. Generally speaking, the one overlying conflict stands as...show more content...How Louisa May Alcott emphasizes on certain aspect of each March girl that sets them apart from the other three is quite intriguing. Although it was slow and gradual (after all, the story followed the life of these little women), getting through the book was like growing up with the March girls. I like that Jo was a fiery tomboy, that Beth was shy and reserved, that Meg was all knowing and wise, and that Amy was naive and proud. It was even more enjoyable to see them grow into adults that contradicted some of their former ways. Jo for instance, exhibited great change, especially when she burned her old sensationalist stories in Mr. Bhaer s fire. Ganesha
Vinayagar or Ganesha is best known as the God of new beginnings. This aspect of the God can be explained by the stories of his origins. The Padma Purana tells that Ganesha was the son of Shiva and Parvati and was born a perfect and normal child. At Parvati s invitation, the other gods and goddesses came to see the new baby and to bestow their blessings upon him. Unfortunately, Parvati s brother Sani had been cursed by his wife so that if he looked at anyone, that person was reduced to ashes. Ganesha is often depicted holding tray of ladoos, a popular sweet, which represents wealth and prosperity. There is a mouse at Ganesha s feet which represents the ego. When Ganesha rides this mouse, he is demonstrating the conquest of ego in order to obtain wisdom and humility. Mice are also known for their ability to gnaw through most anything, which further illustrates Ganesha s aspect as the remover of obstacles.
While the above description of Ganesha is the most common, this god has 32 forms in which he may appear, along with 108 names, each with its own meaning. Ningyo has previously posted a diagram which illustrates the some of the symbolism of Ganesha s form. Other exam

Qualitative Research Essay
BASIC CONCEPTS OF QUALITATIVE RESEARCH
(An Essay)
By Deborah Sitorus
One of the ways to gain knowledge is by carrying out some research. As what Zacharia (2012) stated that in daily life most people conduct research to gain knowledge. A research can be carried out qualitatively or quantitatively depends on the research purposes and needs and the type of information the researcher is seeking.

Interpretive methods of research start from the position that our knowledge of reality, including the domain of human action, is a social construction by human actors and that this applies equally to researchers. Thus there is no objective reality which can be discovered by researchers and replicated by others, in contrast to the assumptions of positivist science. (p. 5)
In line with this, Geertz (1973) also states
To look at the symbolic dimensions of social action art, religion, ideology, science, law, morality, common sense is not to turn away from the existential dilemmas of life for some empyrean realm of deemotionalized forms; it is to plunge into the midst of them. The essential vocation of interpretive anthropology is not to answer our deepest questions, but to make available t

Vladimir Lenin Essay
Vladimir Lenin Vladimir Lenin was the Bolshevik leader. He was a clever thinker and a practical man; he knew how to take advantage of events. When Lenin arrived in Russia, he issued a document called the April theses, promising peace, bread, land and freedom . He called for an end to the Capitalist war, and demanded that power should be given to the soviets. He demanded a revolution against the Provisional Government as soon as possible. The Indus Valley Civilization
Indus Valley Civilization:
In the region of South Asia, Indus Valley civilization is acknowledged as the oldest civilization which is situated in the region of India s western drift and Indus River (Hirst, 2017). This civilization performed central government and delivered well developed cities and towns along with compositions and controlled food productions. This civilization is different from those of Mesopotamia and Egypt, and hence was not overwhelmed by intense figures of religion (Green, 2016). No sanctuaries were manufactured and no pictures of state divine beings or lords have been found. Deforestation, environmental change and a progression of intrusions all added to the decline of the Indus civilization. The Indus Valley Civilization is also acknowledged as Indus civilization which was situated in a zone of somewhere in the range of 1.6 million square kilometers in what is today eastern Pakistan and northeastern India between around 2500 1900 BC (Hirst, 2017).
Indus Valley Seals:
Alexander Cunningham, in 1870, distributed a few discoveries uncover at Harappa under the establishment of the Archeological Survey of India. That demonstrate some inquisitive protest among them, a 1*1 inch of smooth engraved mud, covered in the vestiges (Rao et al., 2009). The piece was not cleaned and appeared to engrave the sculpture of a bull. It was at first suspected that the seal was a not a local possession rather a foreign object. Later on numerous such revelations were

My Ambition For Science And Mathematics Essay
We moved often to various counties in the Saint Louis area because my knew quality education was based on place. I was now in my junior year and this was my sixth high school that I attended. This school was unlike the others. I was surrounded by middle and upper class families that looked like me. This was a new experience. My obsession for science and mathematics took hold. I immersed myself in this new community, taking part in various clubs, learning, inventing and experimenting. I walked into my guidance counselor s office as I did numerous times that year. But this time it was different since a visitor was waiting for me. This towering man introduced himself as Dr. Keener Tippin and he explained he was there to recruit me for a summer program to live on campus, take college courses and engage in scientific research. I never considered college as an option. A door opened.
I became a teacher to honor my mother with her determined spirit and commitment for all her children to have a quality education no matter the financial burden of as a single parent of five. I became a teacher because of luck, someone I never knew, opened a door. Access to career opportunities should not be based on place or the roll of a die.
I moved to Boston with a sense of urgency for the reason that, at that time, Boston Public Schools were considered one of the best urban school districts in the United States. I had the opportunity to work at Young Achievers Science and Math

It is my belief, that women are equal to men
But I m just a man hater, according to CNN

What s wrong with this belief, even if it is offensive?
There s no need for conservatives to be so defensive
Those statues are racist!
Okay, how so?
These statues only represent historic events
Without them, we ll keep electing crazy presidents
They re kneeling during the anthem!
Okay, but why?
I think they have something worth fighting for
Maybe we should listen to them, before there s a second Civil War
They don t listen when I speak!
Okay, but why should they?

All I ask is your respect and consideration.

Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

Construction Of Construction And Construction
1. Construction Of Construction And Construction
1. Finances:
Construction costs a huge amount of money that can integrate with the new facilities of a certain society. It costs millions when constructing a certain
facility because there is need for materials to generate or purchase raw items that are essential to promote construction activities. Thus, it will seek for
the promotion of services that can enhance the structural growth of a community. Construction is important because it can help to engage in the
activities that can be learned from the mechanics of building a certain community. One example is creating pavements that will allow vehicles to pass
through, from one place to another. It is a criterion that will allow operators to impressively apply their knowledge and expertise in order to build
certain construction issues, which could improve the health as well as the lifestyle of individuals, as well as businesses in the long run.
2. Materials:
In order to build a certain structure, construction materials will be needed to create a beautiful structure that will improve the nature and references of
a certain structure. In this position, the construction of a facility enables individuals to improve their welfare, as well as their position to promote the
advantage of accomplished structural developments that will ensure the structure becomes reliable. This includes cement, metal frames, glass, glass
fibers, metal sheets, sand, gravel, rocks, paint, nails, hammer, excavator, wood, plastic, metal tubes, wires,

Managing and implementing sustainability requires the commitment of all stakeholders and new ways of working, thinking and learning. [4]" The
paper highlights the importance of a coordinated supply chain action in the construction sector and emphasizes the need for construction companies to

The second journal I selected is Open House International, this journal writes of subjects of architecture and housing and urban planning. The article
chosen from this journal is titled, Indicators of Sustainable Construction in Eco–Urban. Its main focus is introducing sustainable construction and
identifies important indictors of sustainability. This article Goes into detail about eco–cities, which are ones that utilize all the critical elements of the
environment and focuses on the efficient use of raw materials and power consumption during the life of a building [5]. Also goes into details how the
exploitation of resources is a big factor in sustainability. The second journal is similar to the first journal in the fact that they are both pro–sustainable
construction. Both papers go into detail about how implementing sustainable building would effect economic and environmental aspects of the process.
They both go into detail about how import it is to move towards sustainable construction.

3. Essay On Construction Industry
Now days the main building material used in the construction industry are concrete, steel and timber. From the point of view of ecological
sustainability, there are four important differences between these three materials: first, timber is the only material of the three that is renewable;
second, timber needs only a small amount of energy to be extracted and recycled compared to steel and concrete (but the implementation of its
potential is not as developed yet); third, timber does not produce waste by the end of its life since it can be reused many times in several products
before decomposing or being used as fuel and; and fourth, timber traps huge amounts of carbon from the atmosphere – a tree can contain a ton of CO2–

But a dense city necessarily requires the construction of high–rise buildings, posing challenges to wood construction technologies, since wood has
traditionally been used in small buildings where the structural demands are lower. Also, the durability of wood due to moisture decay and fire has been
a problem for timber structures. Fortunately, new timber–based products are being developed which are structurally stronger and last for longer periods
of time without any moisture and fire complications. These new products allow us to build high–rise buildings, turning timber into a feasible and
convenient alternative to traditional high–rise building materials such as concrete and steel. Wood technology will undoubtedly keep developing along
this path, making it possible to build skyscrapers in the future. Even though material innovation and modern technologies have increased the durability
of timber significantly, there are still people who argue that steel and concrete are much more durable and, therefore more sustainable. However, the
difficulty of reusing these materials is an issue. Nowadays, cities are very dynamic and are constantly changing, and thus the average life span of a
building is not as long as it used to be in the past; today buildings die young. A study of residential buildings in the United Kingdom claims

One cold Saturday morning, I was waiting to get picked up by one of my bosses' employee's. As I waited in the grey fog, a white Ford pick–up truck
pulls up slowly beside me and a man named James greets me, then tells me to hop in the truck. We head over to the construction site and the drive was
about thirty–minutes long, we drove across the Inland Empire until we arrived at the site of Moreno Valley. There awaited a man named Salvador,
who surprisingly shared the same name as me! He is a licensed contractor, who's in charge of running his company called Chava's Plastering INC. as
well as supervising his construction team. In the yard, there were large metal strips laid on the dirty ground and I met the crew, such as the mixers and

and fifty thousand dollars depending on work experience and education. He also told me that many construction companies are hiring for young
workers to train for specific positions, but they must be at least eight or older. Furthermore, Salvador took me over to see the workers in action.
We walked outside into the heat and I saw men applying black paper with wiring all along the walls. Tim had to bring a massive mixer by us by
getting in his truck, driving down the dirt road to load the mixer. He then drove back to us, unloading the mixer getting and it in position so the
workers can do their job effectively. The workers grabbed bags of concrete and poured it in a mixer with water. He told me that many of the men
working here first started off with an internship to gain work experience. I was thinking of applying for a position for an internship so I can have a
career like Salvador. I then saw that there were two men on top of this platform wearing work boots, white long sleeve clothes and protective gear.
He explained to me that the Occupational Safety and Health Administration requires all works to follow their safety polices, for example, to always
wear glasses and a helmet on site. The reason for that is to keep the workers safe, that's his

5. Since ancient times all the way to the present day there have been monumental advances in construction technology and safety, from the techniques and
methods of construction to the equipment used in construction which wasn't revolutionized during the industrial revolution. The only constant
throughout all the aforementioned advancements is the use of scaffolding, from ancient times where sockets in the walls around the Paleolithic cave
paintings at Lascaux, the Berlin Foundry Cup depicts scaffolding in ancient Greece (early 5th century BC), the ancient Egyptians, Nubians and Chinese
are also recorded as having used scaffolding–like structures to build tall buildings. Early scaffolding was made of wood and secured with rope knots.
All the way to the present day where scaffolding has enclosed and has been used to repair the dome of the Capital of the United States of America or
even The Statue of Libetry, construction workers around the world are using temporary work platforms (scaffolds) to reach areas where work must be
done which by any other means would be otherwise unfeasible. Along with the advancements in construction technology and safety so has scaffolding
changed with the times, form the make–up of the materials used, to the requirements demanded of the builders in order for the scaffold to be deemed
safe for use. This paper will discuss: Different types of scaffolds that can be built and utilized for different tasks and the material they are made up of,

6. Construction Of The Construction Industry Essay
incorporated into the questionnaire. According to Gould and Joyce (2002) there are a number of risks which can be identified within the
construction industry itself and those risks are evident in every construction project regardless of the project size or its scope. Tummala et al.
(1999) has argued that oftentimes changes in design and scope in addition to time frames or schedules are considered the most common risks for
the construction sector based on the study conducted. As the construction project progresses there 's bound to be changes in scope or design which
are implemented causing the need for more resources, time and cost. Baker, et al. (1999) notes that if a project is completed ahead of its scheduled
time, it may be as troublesome as one scheduled late. Karim et al. (2015) has argued that extremely quick completion maybe a resultant of planning
which is insufficient or problems within the construction design which caused shortening of completion time. This may also lead to overall low
quality of the final construction product and there may be an increase in the overall cost of the project (Karim et al. 2015). Gould and Joyce (2002)
argues that setting a delay in a schedule garners a great cost that becomes the burden of both the contractors and the investors in differing ways. Zhang
and Xing (2010) urges that there is great importance in keeping balance between the concepts of time–cost–quality trade–off which manifested over the
past decade. This concept of

In building construction and in fire prevention there are organizations that have created a useful system on how to determine what type of building falls
under which category. The ICC (International Code Council) and the NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) create these building codes for the
safety of firefighters. The two most commonly known standards for building classifications are the NFPA 5000 and also the InternationalBuilding Code

Post and Frame construction types of structures came to America from Europe. This type of construction was fitted together using a wooden frame
and timber. They connected at joints called mortise and tenon. To ensure that load transfer was properly distributed they used wooden pins to hold
the connected piece together called trunnels. Like log cabins, the interior wall finishing's we often made of wood. This poses a danger to firefighters
as well because it just adds more fuel to a structure fire. Balloon Frame construction derived from Post and Frame types of construction. The two types
of construction are very similar in many ways. The differences between the two are that Balloon Frames didn't require a skilled laborer to cut the
notches in the timber and studs. Instead, by using nails it would hold the frame together. The studs would be nailed on to horizontal board

8. The Complexity in Construction Projects
Construction Projects are intrinsically complex in nature. It varies in different aspects such as size, nature, Contract Value etc. It involves different
parties including the Client, Designer, Engineer, and the Contractor, whose interests vary from each other. Under these complex circumstances, the
success of any project is dependent on the type of contract opted for the contract, along with several other factors such as the most appropriate design,
askillful execution team, a good working relationship and mutual trust between the stake holders of the project.
The PMBOK guide has classified Contracts into three broad types namely Fixed Price or Lump Sum Contracts, Unit Price or Time and Material
Contracts and Cost Reimbursable Contracts. The selection of the Contract type is largely dependent on the client's adaptability to risks.
Among the three types of contracts, Lump Sum Contracts carry the least amount of Risks for the Client. In this type of Contract, the contract value as
well as the start and completion dates is fixed before the contract is signed. The builder (Contractor) owns majority of the risks, and will be
responsible for completing the works and handing over the project to the owner, on time, fulfilling all stated requirements of the project. In most of the
Design–Bid–Build Projects, where the design is fully completed and the scope is clearly defined, Clients most commonly prefer Lump Sum Contracts.
Medium sized or Large Lump sum contracts will

reduction of waste should not be the sole responsibility of the construction company, as the client and designer can make environment friendly choices
in the program of demands and designs. Studies indicate that waste of materials is usually higher than normal figures assumed by construction
companies in their estimates" (Chinyio). The sustainability of materials used should be calculated in the design and not necessarily put on the general
contractors to figure out the most environmentally friendly construction materials. The same article conducted a study with construction waste and the
total construction material costs and "... the findings of this study show that waste is a major contributor to the cost of construction. The total cost of
waste is expected to be 30% of the cost of materials" (Chinyio). The design should take into consideration the amount of waste and try to reuse, reduce,
and recycle some of the material into the design. Life–cycle assessment is very important because in the construction industry the life expectancy and

For example, emerging 3D BIM modelling can enhance project planning and materials acquisition. Building information modelling is a process for
'creating and managing project information' and allows those planning and running projects to see a 'digital description' of each aspect of the build
which can then be linked to key information such as specifications, site photos and scheduling times. This technology can benefit construction

Adjust client expectations Planning is everything – one of the biggest causes of delays in construction projects is a delay in material supply, or a lack
of staffing. It was important for our project to liaise and discuss with the project team and client, Material supply, staffing and sub–contractors. There
were elements of the project where we used our own direct employees and where specialized work was undertaken sub–contractors were used and
issued orders.
To state the obvious, a vital part of any construction project planning process is being able to successfully orchestrate the interfacing of people,
processes, information, materials, and equipment.
Planning is a crucial part of any construction project – in fact, most issues that arise, come as a direct result of poor or insufficient planning and project

Today is the day you'll find out that I would want to pursue a career in construction in the soon to come future. After researching, I came to realize that

work, meaning I'll be working all from the morning to the whole entire day into the night and most likely be very physically tired.
It's not like you'll be stuck in a cubicle in the same office every day, because you won't. There is always a new work site to go to. The same website
also states the majority of construction workers learn their trade through short–term on–the–job training, and no specific education requirements for the
job are needed. The website also spared some things about license, and certifications stating that laborers who remove hazardous materials like
hazardous material, must have a federal hazardous material license required for all hazardous materials removal workers, depending on the work,
laborers might need to have specific certifications, and certifications can really help workers prove that they have knowledge to perform the more
complex tasks.

13. Construction Industry Literature Review
LITERATURE REVIEW: Labours are the essential key factor in construction industries and numerous of construction projects have been failed
and unsuccessful due to shortage of skilled labours. Nowadays Australia's construction industries facing a serious threat that is shortage of skilled
workers which potentially have a very negative effect on construction industries plus can have long lasting bad effects on the country's
development in future. Based on reported studies, this literature review clearly states the overview of current state of knowledge about shortage of
skilled workers. Objective 1: Training of the workers of construction industry Training of the workers is mandatory either they are currently
working in the construction industry or they are new in this field because the construction industry is a dangerous field and the workers must do
work under mines or on the top of the buildings etc. in extreme conditions so not only the health and safety of the workers is important but the
other people safety is important too because they can injure due to the unawareness of the workers. and the training is a cause of shortage of skilled
workers. In 1983, Business Round Table produce a report on shortage of skilled workers and said that it is due to lack of contractor's interest in
training and the company owner's ignorance (Srour et al.2006). (Salleh et al. 2014) also said that training is one of other factors that became the cause
of shortage of skilled workers. (While

14. Construction Project : A Complex Process Essay
Construction project is a complex process in majority of cases involving more than one party. Over the years it brought about the necessity to create a
contractual framework which would adequately meet all the requirements of the process itself and the parties in it in particular. After all, the concept
of a contract is a mutual agreement between the parties to fulfil certain promises. Therefore it is essential that all the privies to it should have equal
opportunities to perform their works as well as ensure that their interests are protected. Despite the fact that contract itself can be daunting, one of its
main purposes is to organise and simplify the whole process, so that all the parties can be co–ordinated in order to achieve the desirable result within
the shortest possible time with the minimised loses. The complexity of construction projects varies – so do the contracts. These differences triggered
into existence various types of contracts that would address the needs of this or that particular project. Some companies use standard industry accepted
forms of contract, others would modify them or even create their own bespoke contract form. The following are some of the common types of
construction project contracts used in the UK: JCT (The Joint Contracts Tribunal) NEC (The New Engineering Contract) ACA (The Association of
Consultant Architects) FIDIC (the International Federation of Consulting Engineers) All these types of contracts were developed by

Construction management and business management share similarity elements of planning such as, goals, policies, rules and procedures. Nevertheless,
they differ in the chart when the standard is the time. Planning for the construction management regard only to the period required to complete a
construction project. However, business management planning can be divided into long–term planning and short–term which aims to give a clear
picture of business for the future.
The stages of the construction project management differ from the stage of business management, in several respects. For example, construction
management first stage is the resolution; it is necessary to identify requirements relating to the project by the owner and choose a consult to help in
completing a preliminary assessment for the project and the feasibility, also the impact of its presence in the economic and social development areas.
However, planning is the first stage on

Introduction World Construction Industry is one of the biggest industries in the whole world. The contribution of this industry towards the global GDP
revolves around one–tenth of the total amount. World Construction Industry is also a potential employment generator and provides work to almost
seven percent of the total employed person in the whole world. The extent of this industry has become so vast that the energy, in the form of electricity
or fuel, consumed by it hovers around two–fifth of the total energy consumed all over the globe. The resources that are utilized in World Construction

the manner in which macroeconomic variables influence comprehensive indexes of the construction business, such as residential investment,

THE CONTRIBUTION OF THE CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY TO THE ECONOMY Various writers and international bodies (Turin, 1973; World
Bank; 1984, Wells, 1986; Bon, 1992) have addressed the role of construction in economic growth and development. One of the main features drawn
from these works is the common assumption that directly relates the measures of the construction output with a country 's stage of economic
development. Furthermore, in this view, construction as a major component of a country 's capital formation plays a determinant role in the process of
economic growth Wibowo, Agung (2009) figured that the Output from the construction industry is a major and integral part of the national output,
accounting for a sizeable proportion in the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of both developed and underdeveloped countries. He further stated that for
highly developed economies the value added of construction is in the range of 7% to 10%

But constant pressure from the environment Agency has made the construction companies think again about investing in pollution prevention
equipment, since the cost of spillage will far out way the cost of the equipment. The construction companies can now find themselves picking up the
tab for the Environmental Agency's investigation and also the clean up, this is even if no prosecution has been brought. In 1997 3,750 charges were
made across the board ranging from £9,000–00 to £24,951–00 . The total recovered from polluters was £1.14 million. (WWF–UK

For the coming year the Environmental Agency will target the construction industry because there has been a 15 percent increase in incidents. The idea
is to stop the pollution rather than clean it up afterwards. Prevention is better than the cure.
