This document summarizes an evidence review conducted to update guidelines for the emergency treatment of anaphylaxis from the Resuscitation Council UK. The review found:
1) Adrenaline is recommended as the first-line treatment for anaphylaxis based on moderate certainty evidence from observational studies, though randomized trials are lacking.
2) Adrenaline should be administered early once anaphylaxis symptoms are recognized, based on very low certainty evidence. No studies differentiate the effects of early vs delayed administration.
3) The review resulted in several changes to the previous guidelines, including emphasizing repeat adrenaline doses after 5 minutes if symptoms persist, and recommending against routine corticosteroids or antihist
