 The recurrence of such a situation like confidentiality
violations can be prevented by holding training on
HIPPA rules and regulations. In addition, any state
laws governing confidentiality should be covered
during the training. The training should involve all
members who have access to private information.
The training would enable clinicians realize the value
of holding the information with great care, as well as
ramifications involved
 Patient’s privacy can be protected by having
appropriate technical and administrative safeguard.
Creating reasonable procedure to limit the views and
access to personal health records can help an
individual to protect the privacy of his or her
healthcare record (Pozgar, 2012).
 The employees should be provided with
confidentiality handbooks and the information
contained there must be reinforced during training.
Training should also involve sharing real life
examples and experiences. The training should also
involve the adoption and utilization of health
information technology in order to update them on
emerging issues relating to confidentiality. The
orientation of new staff should involve training on
confidentiality of medical records of patients.
