The 1000 Islands Parkway runs along the shores of the St Lawrence River between Brockville, Ontario (our home base on this trip) and Gananoque, Ontario as distance of about 25 kilometres. We explore the eastern half of it, taking our time to discover some of the old and historic buildings, places and things to say nothing about the luxurious summer homes and cottages along this stretch of the St Lawrence River in the midst of the world famous 1,000 Islands.
Daniel McGinnis discovered a mysterious depression on Oak Island off the coast of Nova Scotia in 1795. He and some friends dug down 30 feet until they were forced to stop, beginning the long mystery of what lies buried in the island's "money pit". Subsequent excavation attempts discovered different layers of materials and artifacts, including an ax and scissors. Modern excavations using cameras and digging technology have found tools, chests and human remains, but the pit continues to flood, preventing access to its secrets. To this day the origin and contents of the Oak Island money pit remain unknown.
James Cook was a British explorer born in 1728 who made three voyages of exploration and discovery in the Pacific Ocean. He mapped much of the region, made accurate navigational charts, and was the first European to visit many islands and lands, including becoming the first to circumnavigate and map Antarctica. 9. Chart of AstroLand Astroland Astroland first opened in 1962. It was suppose to be a space theme park but it look like more like A carnival. It was owned by the Albert Family until they sold it for 30 million dollars to a Company name Thor Equities on November 8 th , 2006. July 12 th , 1975 a fire broke out and burn most of Astroland to the ground but the owners were able to rebuild.
