Catullus invites his friend Fabullus to dinner at his house in a few days if the gods are favorable. However, Catullus specifies that Fabullus must bring a good and large dinner, as well as a beautiful girl, along with wine, salt for flavoring, and laughter. If Fabullus brings these things, then Catullus says he will have a nice dinner. However, Catullus' money bag is full of spiderwebs, implying he has no money to provide the food himself.
