The London Philharmonic Orchestra was founded in 1932 and is centered in the Royal Festival Hall. It is made up of over 100 musicians from 14 different nationalities under the leadership of conductor Andrew Manze. A recent performance featured works by Elgar, Walton, and Ireland and was played in the concert hall for an audience in the balconies and rising seating around the stage. The orchestra has evolved over centuries from accompanying festivals and gatherings to becoming a means of storytelling and cultural expression in modern society through film, theater, and other media.
