Concept
THE TITLE OF MY FILM (what is it called and why – justify your
choice?):
The Pursuant – because it will be a stalker stalking a boy, and the
word “Pursuant “can also means finding something, so the action of the
boy looking at the documents can also be call “pursuant” as well.
MY TARGET AUDIENCE (check brief for details):
13-18 years old, because it will be thriller film, and kids are too young to get
into thriller, the age that interested in something trilled are teenagers,
middle age, and senior may not interested it thriller film anymore.
Because it doesn’t have violence, sex issues, or horror in the film, so it can
set as R13 film.
THE 6-15 INSTITUTIONAL CONVENTIONS I WILL INCLUDE IN
MY FILM ARE (with detailed explanations):
Ideology: we have tried to change typical gender representation in film, so
we are using a female as a stalker. We thought that this would interested to
our audience because their generation is interested in the breaking out of
Lighting: we will be filming out side in daytime, so we have make sure that
we set a good white balance to still make a low key lighting, because we
need to crate a situation of scariness in thriller film. The filming in side of
the room will be darker, so we need to change our white balance to fit with
a light, and also the contrast between the darkroom and the light.
Mise en scene: the main thing of mise en scene is costuming, costumes are
very important in the film because it can show character personal. For our
antagonist we will have her dressed in dark colours, black leather jacket
and combat boots.
Setting: Our establishing shots are going to be of Bangkok. We are going to
be filming the rest of opening sequence in central Auckland. We are going
to be using back streets that are dimly let to try and fit in with the exotic
look of Bangkok.
Editing: we are using Cross-cutting to establish action and the location and
using Fast-paced editing to build tension. For our parts of our title
sequence we are using computer-generated imagery (CGI).
Camera Shots: For our establishing shots we are using the backdrop of
Bangkok because it has exotic look. We are using tracking shots to follow
our male lead. We are using a drone for some of these tracking shots to get
a birds eye view of him. This will capture the attention of our audience
because it gives them a different perspective on the character. Point of view
shots will be use to show the perspective of our female lead.
THE 6-15 GENRE CONVENTIONS I WILL INCLUDE IN MY FILM
ARE (with detailed explanations):
Thriller: we are trying to crate some thriller mood in the film, by making
the stalker stalks the boy, with out his permission.
Crime: because son and daughter of Emily got kidnaped by Tim, so that is
type of crime.
Fiction: because of the story doesn’t have anything that can’t happen in
real world, the character doesn’t have any special power, and the character
can do everything that happen in the story.
Mystery: the audience doesn’t actually know what is going on in the
opening sequence, but it is something going on in the back-story. That is
how it’s is mystery.
Paranoid: the stalker is worrying about her kids about being safe, and Tim
is worrying about his son that might know his secret.
Enigma: Emily and Andy are trying to work something out, and that is
make the story enigma.
A PLOT SYNOPSIS (your storyline – 200-300 words):
An establishing shot of Bangkok in Thailand, then a shot of Auckland in
New Zealand of a boy walking on the way, with a stalker following him, and
take a photos of him on his way into a darkroom with a huge pin board, lots
of folders and files in it, on the pin board it will have a lot of photos of
actors, Director, editor, sound engineer, cinematography, and producer on
the board, with their name printed out and pinned it under the photos,
then it will be the girl looking at the documents, with a motion tracking
following the documents.
CHARACTERS AND NAMES (with detailed explanations about
their purpose in the film and their background/relationship
with other characters):
The stalker – Emily Armstrong
The boy – Andy Jacobs
Andy’s dad – Tim Jacobs
Emily Armstrong was a detective, and then her son and daughter got
kidnaped by Tim Jacobs. The only way that she could get her son and
daughter back is to stalk Andy Jacobs, which is Tim’s own son. The reason
that Tim needs to do this is because he is wondering that his own son
might know about his secret project.
PRACTICALITIES OF FILMING/CONTENT (examples - how
realistic is your idea, will you have any health and safety issues,
how simple will it be to find actors/actresses and locations with
detailed comments):
Our idea is not so realistic, because it is too hard for father to worrying
about his own son, to actually get someone to stalk him.
The actor who will act as Andy Jacobs is not too hard to find, because he
suppose to be young, but Tim Jacobs is pretty hard, because he is old, and
for Emily Armstrong is quite hard because she has to be a mother.
The location will be:
Establishing shot – in Bangkok Thailand.
The rest of them will be car park, Apartment, and side street in Auckland,
New Zealand.
