Contemporary art is defined as art produced in the present time by living artists. Visual arts encompass art forms appreciated primarily through sight such as literature, culinary arts, media arts, performing arts, and fine arts. Fine arts are artworks created primarily for aesthetic purposes rather than practical function. Decorative arts are artworks that are both aesthetically pleasing and functional. Contemporary art forms include recently developed styles and techniques that are experimental in nature.
