This document provides 10 tips for building great Windows 8 apps. It begins by introducing Dennis Vroegop and his background. The tips include focusing on a clear mission, using standard navigation patterns with at most 3 vertical levels, developing for mouse, keyboard and touch, making the app self-explanatory without needing help, providing visual cues and hints, using the charms bar instead of separate buttons, grouping items with menus, using the animations library instead of custom animations, leveraging Visual Studio templates while also customizing the design, and having fun in the development process.
This document provides basic instructions for using a computer for the first time. It explains the basic components of a computer like the monitor, CPU, keyboard and mouse. It then outlines three steps: [1] turning the computer on by pressing the power button, [2] using programs and the internet by clicking icons on the desktop, and [3] closing programs by clicking the 'X' button. It also shows how to use a web browser by typing addresses into the URL bar, and how to type and save documents using Word.
The document outlines the pre-production, layout, software and hardware resources, contingency planning, health and safety considerations, and schedule for a magazine project. Software like Photoshop and PowerPoint will be used. Potential issues include computer or software crashes, which will be addressed by saving regularly in multiple locations. Health and safety risks like back pain and eye strain will be mitigated with proper posture and regular breaks when working. The schedule includes collecting images, designing assets in Photoshop, creating the cover, inside pages, and evaluation presentation.

This document provides information about three online meeting and training tools: GoToWebinar, GoToMeeting, and GoToTraining. It also provides tips for participating in online meetings and trainings. GoToWebinar allows presentations to up to 100 participants, GoToMeeting allows collaborative meetings for up to 25 people, and GoToTraining focuses on training sessions for up to 25 participants. The document recommends being prepared with questions, participating actively, and using a headset to avoid issues. It also notes some free alternatives like Google Hangout and Webex.
The document discusses several apps and tools that can be used for note-taking, writing papers, teaching lessons, studying, and classroom activities. Notability allows for organized note-taking but also makes cheating easy. Pages is for writing papers but lacks the organization of Notability. Plague and Kahoot help teach science and other subjects in an engaging game format. iTunes U, Quizlet, Socrative and dictionary apps provide resources for lessons, studying and looking up definitions. While some have disadvantages like compatibility issues or distraction, many allow teachers to effectively communicate with and engage students.
This document provides instructions for an English workshop lesson where students will learn about and use the educational app "BrainPOP" on their iPads. It asks students to discuss what they learned from a movie on the app, identify any new words, and complete a quiz. Students are also encouraged to post about their experience on their class blog.

Observability Concepts EVERY Developer Should Know -- DeveloperWeek Europe.pdfPaige Cruz
Monitoring and observability aren’t traditionally found in software curriculums and many of us cobble this knowledge together from whatever vendor or ecosystem we were first introduced to and whatever is a part of your current company’s observability stack.
While the dev and ops silo continues to crumble….many organizations still relegate monitoring & observability as the purview of ops, infra and SRE teams. This is a mistake - achieving a highly observable system requires collaboration up and down the stack.
I, a former op, would like to extend an invitation to all application developers to join the observability party will share these foundational concepts to build on:
Removing Uninteresting Bytes in Software FuzzingAftab Hussain
Imagine a world where software fuzzing, the process of mutating bytes in test seeds to uncover hidden and erroneous program behaviors, becomes faster and more effective. A lot depends on the initial seeds, which can significantly dictate the trajectory of a fuzzing campaign, particularly in terms of how long it takes to uncover interesting behaviour in your code. We introduce DIAR, a technique designed to speedup fuzzing campaigns by pinpointing and eliminating those uninteresting bytes in the seeds. Picture this: instead of wasting valuable resources on meaningless mutations in large, bloated seeds, DIAR removes the unnecessary bytes, streamlining the entire process.
In this work, we equipped AFL, a popular fuzzer, with DIAR and examined two critical Linux libraries -- Libxml's xmllint, a tool for parsing xml documents, and Binutil's readelf, an essential debugging and security analysis command-line tool used to display detailed information about ELF (Executable and Linkable Format). Our preliminary results show that AFL+DIAR does not only discover new paths more quickly but also achieves higher coverage overall. This work thus showcases how starting with lean and optimized seeds can lead to faster, more comprehensive fuzzing campaigns -- and DIAR helps you find such seeds.
