Just as UPVC has taken over timber for fascia & soffits, composite materials are taking over timber for decking. Find out why in this slide presentation.
Composite vs Timber Deck Guide - No Staining, Rotting or Splinters
1. Composite vs Timber
1. No staining ever needed.
2. No split or splinter.
3. High slip resistance.
4. Does not rot.
5. Hidden fasteners can be used.
6. Uses recycled materials.
7. Warranty of up to 25 years.
2. 1. No staining ever needed
• Deck looks good all year through, year after year.
• Requires minimal maintenance, only simple cleaning is
needed and can be effortlessly done with a jet wash.
• Saves cost of staining oil and labour time (you would need to
do this regularly for a wooden deck).
3. 2. No split or splinter
• Deck is safe for bare feet, so no need to worry about any cuts.
• Deck is inflatable friendly, meaning you can bring out the
paddling pool without worrying about it being damaged.
• Your children will be safe from splinters.
4. 3. High slip resistance
• Not dangerously slippery when wet, making it safe to step out
after the snow or rain.
• Has been slip tested in the US, and has been planned to be
done in the UK (BS7976-2 by Grip Potential UK).
5. 4. Does not rot
• There are no toxic preservatives used at all in preventing rot,
split or greying.
• Is naturally resistant to all species of wood eating insects like
termites.
• Composite does not rot after being wet for long period of
time, unlike timber.
6. 5. Hidden Fasteners can be used
• An aesthetically pleasing look
• Strong grip
• Installation is made easy
7. 6. Uses recycled materials
• The materials used are engineered from recycled domestic
Maple wood by-product recovered from flooring and
furniture combined with recycled plastic.
• The plastic consists of High Density Polyethylene (HDPE)
providing superior physical and mechanical properties.
• Fiberon diverts over 33,800 tons of used wood and plastics
from landfills and incinerators each year. 98.5% of all material
waste is recovered from the manufacturing process. Closed
loop water cooling systems prevent excessive usage of water.
8. 7. Warranty of up to 25 years
• Fiberon provide residential, commercial and stain and fade
warranty, up to 25 years.
