2. Open an Image
This may be considered the Main Image (but not necessarily)
3. Add a 2nd image above the 1st
This 2nd image is often a Texture
4. Reduce the opacity of top layer
Normal blend mode & 50% opacity mimics slide film
However, different blends & opacities can be used
5. Change the Blend Mode & Opacity
In this case, Overlay at 90% (return to previous slide to compare)
6. Adjust Tonal & Color Contrasts
And – of course nothing says that has to be the end
Previous result (90% Overlay) after Color Efex Pro 4
7. Reverse Order of Starting Layers
Same Blend Mode & Opacity
Layer order reversed
Will be the same ONLY if blend mode is
Normal and opacity is 50% Click Next to update this slide
This would be like overlaying two film slides
The image order Matters – but
There is no “right” answer
8. Not limited to just one blend layer
• Any number of layers
• Any blend modes & opacities
• Masks, too, if desired
NO RULES!!
