Scholarly
A scholarly source is one in
which the content is written by
experts in a particular field of
study. The target audience are
usually other experts in the
field, as well as students who
are studying the field.
Popular
Popular sources are written for a
general audience, usually for
entertainment. Popular sources
don’t require expertise in the
field to understand the
information.
Popular Sources
Might have:
• Many ads
• Photographs or illustrations
• May not include references or citations
• Includes authors, journalists or
freelance writers
Examples:
• Magazines
• Social Media
• Newspapers

Scholarly Sources
Might have:
• Few to no ads
• Charts and graphs
• Includes references, notes, and
cited works
• Include authors with affiliations

  1. Notes to presenter: Description of what you learned in your own words on one side. Include information about the topic Details about the topic will also be helpful here. Tell the story of your learning experience. Just like a story there should always be a beginning, middle and an end. On the other side, you can add a graphic that provides evidence of what you learned. Feel free to use more than one slide to reflect upon your process. It also helps to add some video of your process.
