Compare And Contrast Essay Sample For
College
Crafting a compare and contrast essay sample for college can be a challenging yet intellectually
stimulating task. This type of essay requires a thorough understanding of the subject matter,
strong analytical skills, and the ability to draw meaningful connections between two or more
elements. The difficulty lies in not only presenting the similarities and differences but also in
providing insightful analysis that goes beyond the surface level.
To start, one must conduct in-depth research on the chosen topics, gathering relevant information
and identifying key points for comparison. The challenge arises in selecting the most pertinent
details that will contribute to a comprehensive understanding of the subjects at hand.
Additionally, maintaining a balance between the compared elements and ensuring a fair
evaluation is crucial to the essay's credibility.
Organizing the essay effectively is another hurdle. A clear and logical structure is essential for
conveying the comparative analysis coherently. Determining whether to follow a point-by-point
or block method, and arranging the information in a way that makes the essay flow smoothly,
adds to the complexity of the task.
Furthermore, crafting a compelling introduction and conclusion requires finesse. The introduction
should grab the reader's attention, provide background information, and present a strong thesis
statement that sets the tone for the essay. The conclusion, on the other hand, must succinctly
summarize the main points and leave a lasting impression on the reader.
Addressing the finer details, such as proper citation, grammar, and language use, is equally
challenging. The writer must adhere to the specified citation style and ensure that the essay is
free from grammatical errors. Achieving a balance between formal and engaging language can be
a delicate task, as the essay needs to be both informative and interesting to the reader.
In conclusion, crafting a compare and contrast essay for college involves navigating through
various challenges, from comprehensive research and thoughtful analysis to effective
organization and polished language use. Despite the difficulties, successfully completing such an
essay can be immensely rewarding, showcasing the writer's intellectual prowess and analytical
skills.

Analysis Of PV, Battery And DER System
PV, Battery and CHP modification Class Diagram of PV PV The class diagram
above shows the representation of a PV DER system with its logical nodes as
properties. It is important to point out that a PV may have additional logical nodes
or components based on its description. The representation above is a reflection of
the implementation to be used in conducting our HUAS lab test. The diagram is an
extension to that of deliverable 6.2.2. The modifications allowed for the DER
systems to be functional and object oriented. From a programing perspective it
seemed that some encapsulation was missing and as such some of the attributes of
the classes were changed from public to protected or private where deemed necessary.

The 96 values are then written to the DER server(via JPB iec61850) where the
registry reads them (via iec61850 JPB) and makes a printout for comparison and
then writing them to the registry s database. Once written to the database the
aggregator reads all 96 values (via the rest API) and selects what it would like to
use as set points. After selecting the desired value(s) it is then written directly to
the DER server (iec61850 JPB ) as a set point for the logical device the availability
represents. Lastly the smart gateway is notified that of the change in the DER
server and a check is made to see if that was the value sent by the aggregator. Smart
Gateway ( Node RED) This is the flow representing the communication between the
Java Python Bridge and the Smart Gateway (realized on Node RED). There are
mainly three main streams of communication are based on (1) Receiving a
setpoint, (2) Returning a status from the respective Device and (3) Updating the
schedule with 96 values. 1. The setpoint is received with an address or a specific
reference to which device that should be controlled as well as whether if it is a
simulation or a live test. Then the SG accordingly processes this message into a
suitable format for the following nodes in the flow. And finally sends the setpoint to
the respective Flow in which the recipient device is being managed. 2. Each of these
devices will respond accordingly to the setpoint given and as soon as the given

Nutrition for Sport
Introduction
An athlete needs to ensure that they consume enough fuel to complete activities
undertaken. The amount of energy required depends on many factors including size
and weight of the athlete, level and intensity of the training, and due to this the
amount of energy required varies from person to person. However if more energy is
consumed than required, the excess is stored as fat and weight will increase, on the
other hand if insufficient energy is consumed the body calls upon its stores to meet
the demand and weight will be lost.
To consume a balanced diet we need to consume items from the macro and micro
nutrient groups. Macronutrients comprise of carbohydrates, lipids and protein.
Carbohydrates are quickly accessible and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Female Tennis Player
The athletes calorie requirements need to be worked out what is required every
day before any training is added in. To do this the same calculation was made as
the female runner, except instead of 8.7 x kg it is 14.7 x kg and 496 is added
instead of 829, this is because this athlete is in a different age group. Again activity
requirement is taken into consideration, at 450 calories an hour, and as exact
training figures are not available it has been estimated at 6 hours training a week,
which then works out as an extra 2700 calories a week. This figure is then divided
by 7 to give the extra calories needed each day. So this athlete needs a total of 3384
calories a day to maintain her current stature. Again the daily allowance needs to be
divided between the macronutrients. According to National Institute of Nutrition
(2007) this athlete needs CHO:Lipids:Protein at 60:25:15. Once again the calories
are converted into grams. See Appendix 1.
Using this information there was a deficit across the board, see Appendix 2.
When analysing her food diary it has been noted that very little water had been
consumed, she only had 3 litres over the 3 days but she did consume a bottle of
lucozade on 2 of the 3 days. However she did have a bottle of wine, which took up a
massive 9% of her 3 days allowance. Alcohol is not good for you as it dehydrates
the body, which in turn makes it harder to train the following day. Very little fresh
Treaty of Waitangi
TREATY OF WAITANGI
The Treaty of Waitangi is an agreement between the British Crown and the Maori
people. The Treaty of Waitangi was signed on the sixth of February 1840 by 43
Northland chiefs and Lieutenant Governor Hobson. The Treaty recognized Maori
people occupied New Zealand prior to British. The Treaty of Waitangiallowed the
Crown to set up a government to establish laws, and recognised that MДЃori people
owned their lands and other properties. The immigrants (British citizens) could come
and live here in peace. Meanwhile, Maori gained the some rights as British citizens.

Essentially the Treaty was an attempt to establish a system of property rights for land
with the Crown controlling and overseeing land sale, to prevent abuse.
Initially this worked well. MДЃori were eager to sell land, and settlers eager to buy.
The Crown mediated the process to ensure that the true owners were properly
identified (difficult for tribally owned land) and fairly compensated, by the standards
of the time. However after a while MДЃori became disillusioned and less willing to
The Diagnosis Of Heart Disease
DATA MINING IN THE DIAGNOSIS OF HEART DISEASE
Data mining as it has been established is simply a way of getting hidden knowledge
or information from data, the technique(s) employed search for concurrency,
relationships, and outliers in this data that they present as knowledge [4]. This
knowledge can then be used in different applications. Prediction is one of the ways
that the hidden knowledge gotten from the data can be used. The main aim is to use
a large number of past values to consider probable future [9]. Heart disease is the
common term for a variety of diseases, conditions, and disorders that affect the
heart and the blood vessels [6]. Symptoms of heart disease vary depending on the
type of heart disease. Congenital heart disease suggests to a problem with the heart
s structure and function due to abnormal heart development before birth.
Congestive heart failure is when the heart does not pump adequate blood to the
other organs in the body [8]. Coronary heart disease or in its medical term Ischemic
heart disease is the most frequent type of heart problem [24]. Coronary heart
disease is a term that refers to damage to the heart that happens because its blood
supply is decreased; it leads to fatty deposits build up on the linings of the blood
vessels that provide the heart muscles with blood, resulting in heart failure. Heart
disease prediction using data mining is one of the most interesting and challenging
tasks. Shortage of specialists and high wrongly diagnosed
The Political Beliefs Of The Shia And Shia
Sunni and Shia are part of the 1.6 billion followers of Muslims across the world.
After all, Shia are a minority group that have been recently attacked by Sunnis. Shias
are being targeted and killed for their beliefs. Yet, Sunni and Shia have many similar
beliefs and customs, but their main difference is based on who should be the political
figure. When the Sunni and Shia chose different political figures, they also came
upon different ideology. Soon as the prophet Muhammad died in the seventh century,
he did not designate a political ruler after his death. Thus, the country was left without
an appointed figure leaving the Muslim community without a caliphate.
Consequently, the people had to decide who was going to be appointed as the leader
of the Muslim community. The Sunni believed that Abu Bakr should be the leader
and was given the popularity of the vote, but Shia believed that the family of the
prophet should be the leader. Shia argued that only Aliwas qualified to uphold the
spiritual values that underpinned the whole future direction of Islam. (Rogerson 5)
The disagreement of who should be leader grew to the establishment of Shia, who
supported Ali. Shia believed that Ali should have been the first caliphinstead of Abu
Bakr being the first. Shia came to the conclusion that Sunni falsified hadith and Abu
angered Fatima, in which Fatima was part of Muhammad causing Shia to believe that
he does not have right to become first caliph. As a result, that left Sunni
Methamphetamine Research Papers
When I started researching for this paper I found many drugs (legal and illegal) that
may be commonly used, misused, or abused by my future students. I was becoming
overwhelmed; however, I started thinking back to an article that I read in my local
paper. This article discussed how methamphetamine has become a prevalent issue in
small communities. I also found a statistic that blew my mind and made me want to
research this drug and how it can affect my potential students life and learning.
According to the United States government, reported in 2008, that approximately 13
million people over the age of 12 have used methamphetamine(website). That is a lot
of young lives being touch by methamphetamine. As a future teacher planning to live

It is believed that a chemical called amphetamine was created in 1887 in Germany.
The chemical amphetamine was later synthesized (adding some extra molecules) by
a Japanese chemist to create the drug we are now familiar with, Methamphetamine
(Norquist, 2012, p. 8). Methamphetamine (chemical related to amphetamine)
became widely used during World War II as an injectable drug that was given to
soldiers as sort of pick me up for various missions (Website). Methamphetamine was
known to keep soldiers focused, boost energy and be able to perform under the
extreme duress of war (Reding, 2009, p. 45). The Japanese also would give high
doses of methamphetamine to their Kamikaze pilots who were on sent on suicide
missions (Website). Later Japan made the drug available to the public because of the
overabundant amounts left from the war. This caused epidemic abuse of injectable
methamphetamine issues for their country. In the 1950 s methamphetamine became a
prescribed drug which combated depression and a diet aid (Website).
Methamphetamine was also often used as stimulant for college students, truck
drivers, etc. which contributed to methamphetamine abuse across all socioeconomic
groups, ages, and populations
Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD)
I pick my son up from school from time to time and usually speak with his teacher
to see how he is doing in class. The teacher always tells me about his hyperactive
behavior and suggests me and my wife take him to see a doctor and have him
tested for ADHD. I have a long list of people in my family who have been
diagnosed with ADHD and I have personally seen the side effects from the
medication, so I have been a little reluctant to bring him in to be tested. My child is
indeed hyperactive, but I look back before ADHD was even a disorder and wonder
what happened to teachers and parents being patient and learning how to work
around the disorder without medication due to the horrible side effects that the
medication causes.
There are many reasons ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Researchers have found numerous ways to curb the symptoms of this disorder
without the harsh medications. The alternative ways are changing the child s diet,
you can give your child supplements like fish oil, increased physical activity, brain
training therapies, and better parenting skills. Most family doctors will not suggest
these things to parents because most parents are looking for a quick fix and doctors
do not make any money from not prescribing medication. A child with ADHD
requires more attention and most parents are too busy to give it to them, so they look
for the quick fix, but doctors are not going over the alternative treatments or the
dangerous side effects from the medication, they just listen to the parent for 5 10
minutes, ask the child a few questions, do a quick physical, and give medicine. The
doctor usually never goes over the length side effects, the harm the medication does
to the child over a long period of time, or the alternative treatments that can help. I m
almost positive any responsible parent would want to know these things and I believe
it is the doctor s responsibility to give them the information before prescribing it to

The single shots of the ruby slippers indicate the importance of it. The slippers are
important because it s what kept causing her issues with the Wicked Witch s and
was what help her get home.The slippers can be interpreted as her uncle s ranch;
the only form of income that they have which is also precious to them. Miss Gulch
at the beginning of the movie wants to take their ranch away from them because
she wants to own the city and she attempts this by threatening to take Toto away.
And in Oz, the Wicked Witch of the West, who represents Miss Gulch wants to
take her slippers because it will make her even more powerful. Subconsciously
Dorothy creates Oz and relates it to her outside world. Because of this, a theme is
created some people seek for power by destroying others into they can have it all.
Even if it s in the real world or not, like Oz, power is an issue because having it can

##regulation Of Brain Derived Neurotrophic Factors In...
1.Specific Aims: Magnocellular neurosecretory cells (MNCs) located in the
supraoptic (SON) and paraventricular (PVN) nuclei of the hypothalamus synthesizes
and regulates Arginine Vasopressin (AVP) secretion (2, 6, 22, 24, 33, 36, 40, 46).
Dysregulation of AVP release leads to dilutional hyponatremia associated with liver
and heart failure which increases morbidity and mortality (12, 23, 37, 51, 53, 65).
The prevalence of hyponatremiadespite treatment with AVP antagonist to increase
urine output, improve plasma sodium levels, and reduce ascites is prominent (5, 16,

During high salt loading and dehydration, MNCs has been shown to have

Based on these findings, in conjunction with other previous studies, we have
developed the following working hypothesis (Figure 1).
Our working hypothesis is highly novel in that it focuses on BDNF from SON can
contribute to increased intracellular chloride, which in turn influence changes in AVP
release and hyponatremia during liver cirrhosis (Figure 1).
Our hypothesis will be addressed by the following specific aims:
1. To determine the role of BDNF TrKB signaling in hyponatremia through sustained
AVP release during hepatic cirrhosis.
2. To understand the role of estrogen in preventing the chronic activation of
vasopressin neurons in female bile duct ligated rats.
These experiments will for the first time define the roles of BDNF TrkB signaling in
the hepatic cirrhosis induced sustained AVP release along with sex differences in the
regulation of AVP release. An integrative approach will be employed that includes
AAV shRNA knockdown in whole animal experiments, molecular changes in RNA
and protein expression, in vitro chloride imaging with ClopHensorN and functional
studies of fluid balance and circulating AVP in the rat. These studies will address
several critical gaps in the literature by determining the neural adaptations that
contribute to pathophysiology in an animal model of dilutional hyponatremia.
2. Background, Significance and Innovation: Dilutional hyponatremia is the most
important electrolyte abnormality
Adult Development Essay
1.How did Adult Development theory and metacognition impact you personally as
you worked through this case study? Watching the case study I felt angry and hurt
for those kids. It is always disappointing and heart braking, when kid has to be taken
away from their parents. The fact that the kids had to be separated from each other,
as Jasmine Donnelly stated the worse thing is little Amber will not even remember
her.
It is sad when adults fail to fully transition from one stage of our life to the next
stage, Levinson and his colleagues breaks down the different transitional period and
the different components that it consist of. Sharon Donnelly had fail to transition
from what she did before she had kids to when she had kids mentally. I think she
was not prepare for that responsibility, so she ever fully develop mentally to accept
the fact that she had kids and it was inappropriate to continues to be an irresponsible
parent. Sharon Donnelly had failed to learn from the teachable moment in her life.

Aesthetic s Reflection On Art And The Philosophy Of Beauty
Life consists of constant cycles of spontaneous outbursts of joy and unexpected
disappointments; there is an upside to this repetitive tug of war. On this rock we call
home, we are surrounded by the most gorgeous creations, structures, and landscapes
that add a touch of serenity to our miserable existences called aesthetics. Aesthetics as
an adjective is defined as concern with beauty of the appreciation of beauty. As a
noun it means a set of principles underlying and guiding the work of a particular artist
or artistic movement. The surrounding beauty that we take for continuous granted is
significant towards our existence. In everyday interaction, we straddle the line
between aesthetic judgement, where we appreciate any object, instead... Show more

Kant has a particular separation between free and accessory of what a certain thing
is; a design that pleases a night club may not be appropriate in a senior home. With
so many types of art forms, we are hardly able to ignore them and become
disinterested, eventually curiosity will take its course.
Some forms of art hold a certain form of purpose. Fine arts hold a communication
of ideas as its purpose. For example, Music and Theater usually project a particular
message for the audience to adhere to. It can have everything to do with politics or
display awareness for a specific cause. In Edward Bullough s Psychical Distance as
a Factor in Art and an Aesthetic Principle, his essay published in the British Journal
of psychology in 1912, on how people usually would distant themselves from
ordinary involvement in art; paying no mind to what is surrounding us on whether
something is consider art or worth worrying about. Kant s theory differs, continues to
say the we are barely able to avoid recognizing something that is art.
Accessory beauty does not fit his analysis of beauty at all. After all, to consider
anything but the object s design is to impair the purity of the judgment. Furthermore,
it poses an apparent obstacle to the beauty of fine art; unlike natural beauty, with art
the perfection of the thing must be taken into account. (Kant on Fine

Einstein And Rutherford Research Paper
Mathematicians and Scientist
Ernest Rutherford and Albert Einstein were some of the best Scientists and
Mathematicians of their time. They had discovered and contributed so much to the
fields of math and science. With both of them living and working in the same era
(Late 1800s and early 1900s), they were affected by lots of the same events, and their
contributions helped each other. Throughout their lives they discovered things that
put a huge impact the on things we have today such as the technology we have, and
our progress in the fields of Mathematics and Science.

Colleges and Scientists still use the gold foil experiment to learn from, and they still

Stevens Johnson Syndrome Case Study
It is important to differentiate between erythema multiform and Stevens johnson
syndrome: Erythema multiform: target lesion is the classic presentation, and the 3
skin manifestations are dusky center, inner pale ring, and erythematous outer border.
It usually affect age 10 40y/o. Hypersensitivity reaction is most commonly triggered
by infection so treat the underlying cause. HSV is most common cause so treat with
acyclovir. It is a self limiting condition. Stevens Johnson Syndrome (SJS): is a life
threatening reaction. Many manifestations are involved such as detachment of the
epidermis, acute blisters, erosion, severe purulent conjunctivitis, stomatitis and
purpura macules. The main etiology is medications. Usually started as a high fever
and flu like symptoms followed by mucocutaneous symptoms. SJS patients are

after exposure to the infection. Sores are contagious as long as there is fluid weeping
from them. No longer contagious when they have scabbed over or 24 48 hours after
starting antibiotic treatment. Education is very important e.g. frequent hand washing.
Cellulitis: Diffuse inflammation of the soft or connective tissue due to infection, in
which a thin, watery exudate spreads through the cleavage planes of interstitial and

Leader In Animal Farm By George Orwell
What is a Leader?
Leader: Noun
1. The person who leads or commands a group, organization, or country.
English Oxford Living Dictionaries
In the book Animal Farm by George Orwell, Old Major, an old pig, is depicted as a
good leader. A good leader puts others before themselves, is humble, willing to
serve, and inspires people to do their best. Old Major is the character that
exemplifies these traits. In the book, Old Major is gathering up support for a
rebellion against Mr. Jones, the head farmer, in the hopes of an easier and more
prosperous future. And now, comrades, I will tell you about my dream of last night.
I cannot describe that dream to you. It was a dream of the earth as it will be when
Man has vanished. But it reminded me of something that I had long forgotten (Orwell
6).
Since the beginning of civilization, there have always been leaders. There have been
great leaders and bad leaders. Our first president, George Washington, is considered a
great leader. George Washington led his men through the Revolutionary War.
Washington demonstrated the servant characteristic of a strong and humble leader in

Pansette As An Accomplice In The Case Of Martin Guerre
In Natalie Z. Davis reconstruction of Martin Guerre s famous case of identity theft,
Guerre s eight year absence allowed for Pansette to authentically impersonate him for
three years. . However, following his dispute with his uncle, Pierre Guerre, over the
family inheritance, Pansette was accused of being an impostor, ultimately leading to
his execution. Concluding the case, the court declared Bertrande and the Guerre
familyvictims in the trial. Unlike the participants of the case, Davis does not conform
to the idea of Bertrande as a mere victim, but rather, an accomplice motivated by
socioeconomic status. Critics often question whether Davis interpretations trespass
the boundaries of a historian. Yet, in order to evaluate Davis as a historian,... Show

The key passage for critics explicitly states Davis beliefs of Bertrande as an
accomplice, But the obstinate and honorable Bertrande does not seem a woman so
easily fooled, not even by a charmer like Pansette. By the time she had received him
in her bed, she must have realized the difference; as any wife of Artigat would have
agreed, there is no mistaking the touch of the man on the woman. Either by explicit
or tacit agreement, she helped him become her husband (Davis, 44). The main
argument is that Davis assumptions fail to take into account the ages of Bertrande
and Martin during their marriage, as well as Bertrande s long abstinence as a possible
reason for her memory failure. Yet, Davis arguments are far from imaginative, in
fact, they are derived from the the thoughts of the French peasantry, including those
of Judge Coras himself, She had shared her bed with the prisoner for more than
three years, during which long interval it is not likely that the said de Rols would
not have recognized him for a stranger... (Davis, 79). Contrary to the arguments of
critics, Davis does not fail to demonstrate historical proof for her assumptions, as it is
important for history to take into account the psychology of the
The Performance Measurement Of The Balanced Scorecard
Balanced Scorecard
A performance measurement tool
The balanced scorecard (BSC) is an extensively used performance measurement tool
introduced to take the strategy and vision of the business into real action from four
perspectives: financial, customers, internally progress and learning and grow. (Kaplan
and Norton, 1996) From all these four perspectives, it can be seen that this
measurement tool is different from others because it concentrates on both financial
and operational information rather than only financial figures which make the tool
provide a more comprehensive of the business to shareholders and customers. In these
years, BSC has developed from the performance measurement tool to a strategic
management system. ( Kaplan and Norton, 1996, p 37) However, this essay aims at
introducing the balanced scorecard as a performance measurement from its origins,
why business needs it, how it can be utilized, how the business can get benefits from
adopting this measurement tool and what potential problems and limits it has.
In the modern business world, intangible assets take a larger proportion than tangible
assets in the structure of total assets because the modern business tends to provide
service more than products and shareholders and customers pay more attention to the
intangible assets rather than tangible assets. However, the actual value of intangible
assets is difficult to calculate and present in the real business. In this situation, the
balanced scorecard is
Essay about Frosts Tuft Of Flowers And Men
A Look at the Theme of Separation in the Poetry of Robert Frost
The creation of borders and boundaries has been around since the beginning of
civilization. The division of property and possessions among individuals establishes
a sense of self worth. The erection of fences and walls keeps property separate.
Walls also serve as a means of separating worlds. Modern society demands the
creation, and maintenance of these boundaries. In his poems, amp;#8220;The Tuft of
Flowers, ; and amp;#8220;Mending Wall, ; Robert Frost explores the role that walls
play in our lives. He examines how the lives of men are both separated, and drawn
together by walls.

The Butterfly becomes the speaker amp;#8217;s morning companion, and its

that divides their property. The speaker realizes that questioning the existing wall
is senseless, but he likes to view the task of repairing the wall playfully. Frost

side. Frost writes, amp;#8220;Spring is the mischief in me ; (28). By this, the
speaker knows that the acceptance of the wall is a way of life, and that his questions
against the wall will produce no substantial answers. Wallace writes, amp;#8220;Frost

Difference Between Group Work And Group Work
пЃ¶Introduction
In today s modern era of this world work is very important for everyone. No one can
survive in this world without any work. Work is a activity where we can apply our
ideas in an particular situation. We can t define work as a single type or term
because work is comes with its number of parts and types like SOCIAL, PROJECT
WORK and much more types. In this paper I am going to flash a light on Group
work and Individual work and which is better from both of them.
1.Group Work
Group work is also known as team work when two or more than two persons are
working on a same project is known as group work. In group work we can share our
ideas with our co partners and give that idea a new shape. Group work is a type of
voluntary association that increases the total output of the activity rather than it is
done by individually.
More ideas
In a group every person had its own ideas, prospects and experiences. In a group
every person is belong from an different backgrounds and have a different
experiences so that s why every person have an different ideas on his basis that s why
we can get lot ideas in our group work.
Increase Productivity
By making actions and decisions together (regardless of their position). By working
in a group chances of mistake is very less. By spending too much hours with each
group member on the discussion about an work than we get very effective results
which increase the productivity of our work.

Characteristics Of The Early Civilizations Of Mesopotamia
The characteristics shown in the early civilizations of Mesopotamia are still evident
in today s world because without these basic standards set by the people of
Mesopotamia, civilization could never have grown or had a reference point for the
basic building blocks of society. Mesopotamia was able to grow through the
development of technology, trade, stable political and military systems, and a class
system that contributed to society . Mesopotamias way of life influenced many other
civilizations such as the ones in Egypt, Eastern Europe, and in Asia. Without
Mesopotamia s innovation, civilizations may have never been able to find a concrete
system that allowed society to not only to survive but thrive.
One of the main reasons Mesopotamia was such a success was because it
abandoned the old traditional ways of earlier civilizations by settling in one
specific spot. Before Mesopotamia, most civilizations were nomadic . They would
travel around Europe, Asia, and Africa looking for food and water. The group of
people who had settled in Mesopotamia no longer needed to travel to find different
food supplies. The land settled by the first civilization in Mesopotamia was located
near the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers. These rivers were able to supply both a
reliable water source and also allowed a trade route with the other budding
civilizations located on the rivers . A reliable water source was imperative to a
budding civilization because it allowed both drinking water and an
Graph Theory Concepts and Strategies with Ticket to Ride...
Ticket to Ride is a board game created by Alan R. Moon that has been growing in
popularity since its first release in 2004 by Days of Wonder. The game components
include a map with cities and defined train routes, sets of 45 colored, plastic train car
tokens for up to five players, destination tickets, and colored train cards. The premise
of the gameinvolves collecting enough of the colored train cards to claim or build
train routes to connect various major cities in the United States and southern Canada
to earn points as well as completing routes designated on the destination tickets. The
game itself is not only a fun way to spend hours playing but it is also a good tool to

There are also multi colored locomotive that are used like wild cards. The colored
train cards are shown in Figure 2. The second part of the set up to deal out five
destination tickets (three, if not playing with the Mega Game expansion) a
minimum of three which must be retained. Any destination tickets not kept by a
player are returned to draw pile for later in the game. Note that some versions of the
game remove any discarded tickets from play for the rest of the game. An example
of a destination ticket is shown in Figure 3.
On a player s turn, he/she chooses one of three options: Build a train connecting
two adjacent cities using sets of colored train cards to earn points immediately,
draw up to two additional colored train cards to be used later to build a train, or
draw three additional destination tickets keeping a minimum of one to earn points at
the end of the game. Play continues in this fashion for each player until one player
has two or fewer train tokens left and then everyone still has one more turn.
The points earned from building a train connecting two adjacent cities are based on
the length of the route with the longer routes earning more points per train token.
Routes of length one and two earn only one point per token while a route of length
three earns a total of four

BACTERIAL STRAIN
Cupriavidus necator is a bacterial strain that is commonly used in accumulating poly

the amount of carbon source present is in excess compared to the other essential
nutrients in the medium like nitrogen, phosphorus or oxygen (Lopez Abelairas,
Garcia Torreiro, Lu Chau, Lema, Steinbuchel, 2015). This bacterial strain will be pre
cultured from within 24 hours in a 500 mL Erlenmeyer flask under 30в€ C and 150
revolutions per minute (rpm) without the addition of other carbon source (Martinez,
Bertin, Scoma, Rebecchi, Braunegg, Fava, 2015). The C. necator culture will be
stored at 80в€ C in a 2 mL cryovial containing 300 ВµL of glycerol with 20 grams
per liter (g/L) of xylose (Cesario, Raposo, de Almeida, van Keulen, Ferreira, da

On the other hand, the second process will involve the accumulation of PHA. Both
media that will be prepared will limit the ammonia (NH3)
Sociopath In Lord Of The Flies
In Lord of the Flies, British schoolchildren are stranded on an isolated tropical
island near the Pacific from a plane collision and try to stay with the society norms,
but the boys one by one; change to savage survivalism of ancient hunters; they lose
their sanity and strive for power like Jack. However, Roger is the one that should
be voted off the island. Since of his harmful nature as a sociopath, he cannot be
trusted since he killed Piggy, and he does not hurt the boys for power; Roger hurts
them for his satisfaction. He is the true evil of the island. Roger shows signs of a
sociopath, he slowly goes to the dark side, but he really crosses the line of
civilization. According to the text it reads, Roger led the way straight through the
castles, kicking them over, burying the flowers, scattering the chosen stones... Only

Explain the Purpose of Hermeneutics
The primary need of Hermeneutics is to determine and understand the meaning of
Biblical text. The purpose of Hermeneutics is to bridge the gap between our minds
and the minds of the Biblical writers through a thorough knowledge of the original
languages, ancient history and the comparison of Scripture with Scripture. Through
Hermeneutics, Biblical Interpretation can be achieved in three ways; historically, the
message and the doctrine.
The Bible is totally authoritive and inspired by God, however is it propositional or
not? To be propositional means that God reveals certain truths at which we respond in
accepting these truths. These certain truths may be found in scripture, creeds and or
the teachings of the church. Non propositional ... Show more content on

The Liberals believe that the writers of the Bible accommodated their recipients and
hence the Bible is not binding on us. Non propositional theology is often favoured by
liberal theologians because it places the emphasis on human experience and
rationality.
The third school of interpretation is Traditionalism. Traditionalists maintain that the
Bible is full of truth, God is revealed within the Bible and that it is inspired by the
Holy Spirit. One of the key characteristics of their approach to the Bible is its
emphasis on the need to understand the nature of the different types of literature
within the bible. However, traditionalists would not accept the fundamentalist s
notion of inerrancy as many would acknowledge that there are mistakes in the Bible.
These are seen as a reflection of both the historical context in which they are written
and the human fallibility of the authors. As with Liberals, traditionalists believe that
some aspects of the Bible need to be reinterpreted for today. Traditionalists place a lot
of emphasis on the process of exegesis. However, after establishing the intended
meaning of the author the next step in the traditional approach is the question of how
it should be applied to Christian today. However, whereas fundamentalists believe
that the true meaning of a text should be clear to each reader;
The Persian Empire Essay
THE PERSIAN EMPIRE Similar to the Roman Empire the Persian Empire
stretched across vast lands without any serious rivalry. At the height of the empire
it stretched across, not only, Asia, from the Aegean to the Indus River, but also
included part of the continent of Africa. We get the word, Persia, from the Greek
word Parsa meaning, Above reproach . The Persians unlike most other Empires
would be ruled under a benevolent ruler. This would bring a large amount of
cultural diffusion to the Empire. The empires history is separated into three
historical periods: Old Persia (600 300 B.C.E), Middle Persia (300 800 B.C.E.) and
modern Persia (800 Present). The height or the Empire was reached around 500

Essay On The Lion King As A Short Story
AS THE THRONE ROOM CLEARS, Gawin pauses at the double doors, signaling
with a slight nod to the Kingsmen guarding them.
The Kingsmen returns Gawin s nods and closes the doors.
At which point, Gawin glides as if his feet never touched the floor to a crestfallen
King David, staring onwards in his throne with his right hand clenched into a fist,
holding up his cleft chin. Your grace, he asked, is everything all right?
The King answered humbly, choosing an unburdensome subject matter to discuss.
My eldest son will soon wed.
The prince has chosen an excellent maiden to be his wife, Gawin said formally as if
his Seeker s ability did not play a significant role in the betrothal. Has his grace,
finally found a suitor for your eldest daughter, Princess Kathrynne?
The lines around King David s eyes immediately soften, at the very mention of his
daughter s name. He leans back in his massive throne, carved in the shape of a
roaring lion (his family s crest), resting his head underneath the lion s mouth.
Seeker, I ve chosen many suitors, but the Princess keeps rebuffing them, he tells
him. The King s mind was more at ease in Gawin s presence enough to speak openly
without fear of his Royal Seeker repeating his most intimate thoughts. If my daughter
wishes to be Queen someday, he adds, she ll need to find a husband soon to appease
the council and her future subjects.

Employees, as members of an organization, contribute a lot to the enterprise s

have an enormous influence on the qualities of employees behaviors. (Nan, X. Heo,

I prefer sitting at a coffee shop to do works or read a favorite book, and sometimes

Or, that, having lots of money, living in a big house, and owning all of the latest
cars, fashions, and technology is the key to happiness, and hence, success ? I
believe that the definition of success is deeply personal and surely will be different

Even if you find yourself listing mostly objective factors, the subjective elements
have a way of tugging at you, don t they? The relationship between the objective
and the subjective is actually complicated and idiosyncratic. Subjective success is
an individual s response to an objective situation. A corporate lawyer may work for
a highly respected firm and have a lavish compensation package, but if her career
falls short of her dream to become a Supreme Court justice, for instance, or if
practicing law seems merely a good way to make a living and doesn t provide an
intellectual buzz, she won t feel successful. (Boris Groysberg and Robin Abrahams).
This is the essence of one of the life s great ironies: Money leads to success. This is
real world logic to say that money has always been a pursuit of man. Apparently,
money is critical in many ways, and to have more money means one can do bags
of thing. If I believe I have to choose between being rich and being healthy, why
would I want to go for rich? In sincerity, money gives one far better access to world
class healthcare, good vaccine, and better treatments. If one needs a special leading
edge procedure that s not available where he lives, he can simply fly to a place that
offers it. Being rich means one can give his family a better life, plus opportunities
that only money can buy. One will have time and resource to travel, meets nearly

The Idea Of Vengeance In Homer s Odyssey
Vengeance happens every single day. Ever since the attack on the World Trade
Center tragically occurred on September 11, 2001, the United States of America
targeted and pursued the man who was responsible for the attack: Osama Bin Laden.
Ten years later, the United States of America succeeded locating and killing Osama
bin Laden; as well as avenging the lives that were lost on September 11, 2001, and
the soldiers who gave their lives protecting the United States of America. The concept
of vengeance has been shown in movies, television, and literature. In Western dramas,
vengeance is one of the main concepts portrayed in Greek literature, particularly in
Aeschylus s Agamemnon. Aeschylus s Agamemnon is a Greek tragedy that centers
on the protagonist, Clytemnestra; who seeks vengeance against her husband,
Agamemnon. Agamemnon sacrificed his and Clytemnestra s eldest daughter,
Iphigenia, to escape the wrath of Artemis, goddess of the hunt. Thus, the concept of
vengeance affects justice, sacrifice, and forgiveness. The concept of vengeance is
indicated in several Greek plays. The concept of vengeance is demonstrated in
Aeschylus s Agamemnon, Euripides Medea, and Homer s The Iliad and the Odyssey.
Aeschylus s Agamemnon is the first installment of Aeschylus s The Oresteia, that
begins the cycle of vengeance with the murder of Agamemnon. Despite the stigma of
vengeance, it s as natural to the human species as love and sex. In art and culture,
everyone roots for the
Government Surveillance Of The United States
Over the past few years, government surveillance in the United States has become a
widely debated issue with two completely different sides. The National Security
Agency, a government agency known for it s efforts in spying and surveillance, has
been at the center of this issue since it s founding in the 1950 s. The Cold War had
just begun and the United Statesgovernment was doing anything they could to find
potential terrorists and communists. In fact, many famous people including
Einstein were being spied on by the government to find citizens with potential ties
to the Soviet Union. (New York Times New Details Emerge from the Einstein
Files; How the FBI Tracked His Phone Calls and His Trash) As the cold war came
to an end in the early 90 s, NSA spying seemed to come to an end as well. However,
their efforts stepped up significantly after the terror attacks that occurred on 9/11.
After 9/11, the government was on high alert for anybody that could be a potential
terrorist. The NSA quickly began spying on foreigners suspected of being involved in
terrorist activities or associating with potential terrorists. (Wikipedia Mass
Surveillancein the United States) Soon after this, they started intercepting phone
conversations and even internet traffic through a program known as PRISM. This
program was kept secret for quite a while until NSA contractor Edward Snowden
leaked thousands of documents to reporters. (PBS How Edward Snowden Leaked

The Arguments Against Legalizing Marijuana
Marijuana is the most used drug by teens and adults today. There are many strong
arguments against the legalization of marijuana; there are also many valid reasons
to legalize the drug. Although marijuana alters the natural brain functions like:
memory, attentiveness, and coordination, keeping it illegal will not stop people
from using the drug, but it imposes on other issues that need to be solved. With
legalizing marijuana it would give law enforcement motive to focus on real crimes,
the government would make a huge profit by taxing it, and it can also be beneficial
for some medical needs. Marijuana is the most valuable cash crop. By placing a tax
on marijuana will not only help the economy bloom, but it would also help the
government greatly. Keeping marijuana illegal is becoming expensive... Show more

The argument that marijuana is illegal because it is life threatening or causes
health issues is eliminated. Marijuana is a drug just like any other drug we take to
make us feel better. It is prescribed to people for medical means. Marijuana helps
lower the number of seizures a person has in a life span. It is bizarre to not have it
legal when it could potentially be lifesaving. The possession of marijuana, or the
usage of marijuana does not cause any harm to society; therefore, it should not be
considered a crime. Legalizing it keeps the police force busy with real crimes that
occur. With marijuana legal it will allow the law to spend more money on other
issues such as; homicide, robbery and prostitution. Arresting and jailing people for
marijuana is occupying space that could be used for the real

And what are the ethics that go with computer use in our society today? There are
many inquiries that arise when looking at the relationship that exists between
computers and ethics. But before we can look at the role computers have with
ethics, we first need to understand why it is extremely significant to acknowledge
this connection, along with the possible effects that may come about it if this
relationship is ignored or forgotten. Let s take a look at a unique instance which
involves computers and their association with ethics and social media, something
almost everyone is a part of today. This case revolves around a recent phone app,
called Tinder, which has become popular for both males and females in college
campuses. The app allows males and females to log on through their Facebook
accounts, which allows for them to share their pictures, age, and mutual friends
with others around them. Then once one is registered on the app, a picture of the
other sex pops up and they either swipe away or like it, in which it then matches
them up with that other person. So essentially this app is dating app for young

Athletes Drug Testing
Drug Testing on Athletes If the high school that you went to did randomized drug
testing on athletes would you have been fine with it? Drug testing is violating the
athletes Fourth Amendment right. The testing is a waste of money by the school.
Drug testing doesn t deter student athletes from doing drugs if he or she know it is
randomized. Randomized drugtesting of high schoolathletes is a bad idea. Drug
testing of high school athletes is a violation of the Fourth Amendment of the United
States Constitution. When law enforcement officials conduct a search to uncover
evidence of criminal wrongdoing, the reasonableness requirement of the Fourth
Amendment generally requires them to obtain a judicial warrant (Shutler). If law

Diet Analysis Assignment
For this assignment, I was asked to assess my diet, then compare the amount of
nutrients I was receiving from my current diet, and compare it to what is
recommended of me. I was to do this by using the 24 hour dietary intake form I had
previously completed and compared it to the American Heart Association Healthy
Heart Recommendations, as well as the Dietary Reference Intakes given to me in
class. To begin this assignment, I imported all my data into a table to assess my
findings in more detail. My results are shown below in Table 1.
My results from Table 1 show me to be lacking in many areas. I received next to
none, vitamin C or D from the foods I am currently eating. I am also eating too many
fats and saturated fats. I am lacking immensely
Disney Princess Movies, On Gender Stereotyping
Introduction
Founded by Groves in 1999, the Cultivation Theory came into existence (Graves,
1999). The theory states that exposure to television develops social behavior and
norms. At a young age, we are only just entering the stage in their lives where we
are beginning to think for ourselves and develop our own personal beliefs and
values. Our minds are gullible and can be easily manipulated. This particular
empirical study analyzes the effects due to media, specifically Disney princess
movies, on gender stereotyping. Gender stereotyping can be defined as common
generalizations used to describe gender roles in society, specific attributes associated
with each gender, and the differences between each. Many a time, gender stereotypes

Literature Review
Roles
Throughout the Disney films, traditional feminine and masculine characteristics are
exhibited by each respectively through behaviors and decisions (Graves, 1999).
Thompson and Zerbinos(1995) conducted a study consisting of 89 children (ages four
to nine years) to analyze their interpretation of how female and male characters are
presented in Disney movies. The results displayed that boys were more active and
aggressive, while girls were viewed as loving, domestic, and concerned with their
appearances (Thompson and Zerbinos, 1995). In Cinderella, for instance,
Cinderella is portrayed as a slave to her step mother. She is mainly found doing
domestic work, such as cooking and cleaning, without complaint. She even sings
and smiles throughout. Domestic work is used as an act of submission to the
superior of the female character and is shown as a method to gain love from
others. Charlotte, from The Princess and the Frog, is constantly shown doing
housework as well. Her mother is even known as the finest seamstress in New
Orleans, as sewing is highly associated with female characteristics (Towbin et al,
2008). As can be explained via the cultivation theory, the ideology demonstrated by
Disney films that domestic work is a female chore causes girls and boys to form
that particular social standard and follow it just so. Even today, the role of the
woman was shown to be motherly and house
I Want To Be A Large Animal Veterinarian
I would like to be a large animal veterinarian when I grow up. I have picked this
career because it has everything I want and desire to do. I would get to work with
animals and the people in my community to make life better for all. As animals are
a part of the family. I feel that I would be successful as a Vet due to my fondness of
animals and my interactions with people. There is nothing better the wet kisses of
a puppy and the smell of puppy breath. I currently volunteer at a local veterinarian
office and love. I have seen and learned a lot of valuable lessons. While there are a
number of different specialties such as small animal, exotic animal I would like to
be a large animal vet and specialize in equine medicine.

The Satanic Verses, Truth And Falsity
Through the violent deaths and hypocrisy, doubt in the sacred is reintroduced. Eileen
Barker illustrates brainwashing as the control the religious leaders have exerted over
their followers . This questions whether belief is imposed or cultivated. John Updike
writes that Everything seemed still in place, yet something was immensely wrong .
Highlighting the sense of doubt in postmodernist texts, one may find that some
things, such as religion, cannot be explained. Faithcan waver or hold steadfast,
characters revisiting belief in skepticism as ideology falters. In The Satanic Verses,
truth and falsity is ultimately ambiguous. Some characters are featured as wrestling
with religious doubt, others like Gibreel and Saladin think over their atheism after
supernatural events. Definition is resisted, borders blurred, it is questionable whether
events are happening or merely figments of imagination. Gibreel asks for some sign
(30) that Godis present during his illness, but realizes he is talking to air. He lost his
faith (29) and even after metamorphosis, it is revealed that Gibreel is
schizophrenic. The metamorphosis may be invented, as Rekha says to Gibreel
maybe you are going crazy (7), but he is seen by several others to levitate.
Illustrating the struggle between the real and imaginary, miracles are doubted,
neither denied nor confirmed. From Where there is no belief, there is no blasphemy
(380), the sacred is discredited and blasphemy is no more than a simple
Classic Literature and Comic Books
Because of the timeless nature of classic literature, it has a large influence in today
s world. We see movies created and plays directed over and over again based on the
same stories created hundreds of years ago. Even though classical literature and
comic books differ in many ways, classical literature has a strong influence on
comic books. Teachers have always taught classical literature in high schools and
colleges as a way to help students appreciate literature and vocabulary. People read
comic books on the other hand to get away from learning and appreciating
literature to escape to superheroes and supervillains, in the battle of good versus
evil. Classical literature has an influence on the characters, types of different comic
books, and plots that are scripted and developed. Comic books have some of the
most recognizable characters that people will ever read. Readers of comic books
who do not read classical literature do not know that classical literature has an
influence on comic books. Lewis Carroll s Alice s Adventures in Wonderland
contributes many of its characters having shown up in a comic book at one point or
another. Tweedledum, Tweedledee, Alice, and the Carpenter have all had their merits
(all in Batman comics, incidentally), Jervis Tetch as the Mad Hatter is the Alice
themed villain with the craziness and style to last as a top Batman foe
(www.toplessrobot.com). Specifically the Mad Hatter worked with an evil set of
characters called the Secret
Cause And Effects Of Video Games
The History and Effects of Violent Video Games Video games are a favorite past
time in America. Early on, there was Pong and Pac Man. Games have evolved
from two dots moving around on the screen to a realistic looking man being
decapitated with a chainsaw. This incredible evolution has made gaming from
something people would play in a bar into a multi billion dollar industry that
grosses more than the movie and music industries combined. However, because
video games have become so realistic, the violent ones have been questioned for
their impact on one s mental health. Scientists have looked into the increase of
bullying, how games reward violence, how games desensitize violence, and they ve
even related them to school shootings. On the other hand, Scientists have also
looked into the good side of playing violent video games; making links such as
juvenile crime decline, reducing violence, and the fact that opposing scientists can
not actually find a link between violent games and violent behavior. Violent video
games have been associated with both positive and negative behaviors, however, it
can be argued that the benefits of these games far outweigh the setbacks. Violent
video games have had a rough history. When the very... Show more content on

This idea is completely wrong and incorrect. All of the research that was put behind
this idea was flawed because the research did not study the long term effects of
violent video games and their effects on making the player violent. Instead, these
studies found that playing violent video games made the player have violent
thoughts. Someone having thoughts of violence instead of actually acting on those
thoughts are two completely different things! If violent video games give the player
violent thoughts and make them act upon them, then a sad book would give the
reader sad thoughts and lead to depression (Video Games Don t Cause Violent
Essay On File Sharing
An Examination of File sharing on the Internet
Napster and its founder held the promise of everything the new medium of the
Internet encompassed: youth, radical change and the free exchange of information.
But youthful exuberance would soon give way to reality as the music industry
placed a bull s eye squarely on Napster.
I. Introduction
Today the use of a computer has provided many privileges to its users, and among
those privileges the main and largest one is the distribution of information across the
internet. Through the internet, the average person has the ability to access millions
of databases of information at no cost. This is the intent that the internet was founded
on; that all people could come together ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thus because no one realized the true potential of the internet (nor was the
technology available at the time), no great amount of information was transferred
from computer to computer, at least by the average person. Each file had to be
transferred physically by floppy discs that could only hold an insignificant 1.44
Megabytes. Sure, you could still share files back then, but this required the physical
act of getting the disk, transferring it to your computer, and then copying the file. All
this took a relatively large amount of effort compared to the copy and paste methods
of copying files today.
After a while around 1995, a small underground network of file sharing developed
through the use of a medium known as mIRC. m IRC is basically the early version
of today s chat rooms with the exception that most users identities can be kept
hidden from one another while still allowing the users to exchange information
freely. These users created their own private FTP sites which other users could
upload and download from. These users became labeled as internet pirates , who
dedicated their time to obtaining the latest software and other such files to upload to
FTP sites whose IP addresses changed constantly so that they could not be tracked.
These FTP sites grew to
The Waves Of New York City Essay
The Waves of New York City
Nia Scott
Away is a documentary about the surfing subculture in New York City that is shown
through three female surfers at Rockaway Beach.
The film was directed and produced by Elisa Bates. It was shown in many surf film
festivals including; New York Surf Film Festival, Newport Beach Film Festival, and
Pop up Surf Film Festival.
There is something so spiritual about surfing. I have never surfed a day in my life but
every time I watch others surf I feel this yearning to pick up a board and join them.
It looks like one of the most dangerous but most fulfilling activities at the same
time. I once read somewhere that humans are attracted to water and enjoy being in
water because 70% of our body is made up of water and at molecular level, we
crave water. When I watch surfers, I feel that it s true and that I m being pulled
into the waters from deep within myself. It s no surprise the sound of waves calms
most people and helps them to relax. We associate the sounds of the ocean with
calmness so surfers are just people in search of the ultimate mediation. Don t get
me wrong, surfing is not as simple as picking up a board and going into the ocean. It
takes a lot of hard work to be able to surf and the bigger the waves, the harder it is to
surf. Surfers have to have great upper body strength, an ... Show more content on

film about an all female surfing gang, similar to male biker gangs. Katrina
provided a clip from the film to be used in this film and it showed women in all

beach everyday inspired her to try surfing and she fell in love with it. Katrina now
surfs all the time and loves being able to escape the business of Manhattan for the

World War Z Change
A basic tenet in both fiction and in life is that change is inevitable, and for better or
worse, it s going to happen. In the novel World War Z, lots of things are changing:
society is on the verge of collapse, social hierarchy and status quo are thrown on their
heads, and geopolitical relations devolve drastically, but valiantly manage to save the
remaining thread of humanity. Evident changes and progressions in theme are to be
expected in a novel, but a trickier task is to appropriate this changeand apply its
meaning to specific situations in our everyday lives. The transition from high school
to being a freshman in college is one such scenario. There are certain aspects of
human nature thematically explored in World War Z that do... Show more content on

In World War Z, education as a theme is almost exclusively based in an unfortunate
trial and error. From the progression of zombie fighting techniques revolutionized
from the failure at Yonkers to the triumph at Hope, to adoption of the Redeker
Plan, it was impossible not to notice that experimentation began to begat success.
Humanity began to learn from their past mistakes, and apply hard earned
knowledge in practical ways to limit loss of resources and life, which really is the
essence of education. This being my freshman year at West Virginia University,
there are no shortage of things that offer this sort of practical life experience, based
in a trial and error of sorts. As a pharmacy undergrad, I realize the importance of
broadening intellectual horizons, deepening my knowledge of chemistry and
biology, because peoples well being depends on it. Much like individual efforts in
the Zombie War, my effort is necessary to provide a practical service to others, and
if my service could make even the least difference to someone in need, then it is a

Compare And Contrast Essay Sample For College

  • 1. Compare And Contrast Essay Sample For College Crafting a compare and contrast essay sample for college can be a challenging yet intellectually stimulating task. This type of essay requires a thorough understanding of the subject matter, strong analytical skills, and the ability to draw meaningful connections between two or more elements. The difficulty lies in not only presenting the similarities and differences but also in providing insightful analysis that goes beyond the surface level. To start, one must conduct in-depth research on the chosen topics, gathering relevant information and identifying key points for comparison. The challenge arises in selecting the most pertinent details that will contribute to a comprehensive understanding of the subjects at hand. Additionally, maintaining a balance between the compared elements and ensuring a fair evaluation is crucial to the essay's credibility. Organizing the essay effectively is another hurdle. A clear and logical structure is essential for conveying the comparative analysis coherently. Determining whether to follow a point-by-point or block method, and arranging the information in a way that makes the essay flow smoothly, adds to the complexity of the task. Furthermore, crafting a compelling introduction and conclusion requires finesse. The introduction should grab the reader's attention, provide background information, and present a strong thesis statement that sets the tone for the essay. The conclusion, on the other hand, must succinctly summarize the main points and leave a lasting impression on the reader. Addressing the finer details, such as proper citation, grammar, and language use, is equally challenging. The writer must adhere to the specified citation style and ensure that the essay is free from grammatical errors. Achieving a balance between formal and engaging language can be a delicate task, as the essay needs to be both informative and interesting to the reader. In conclusion, crafting a compare and contrast essay for college involves navigating through various challenges, from comprehensive research and thoughtful analysis to effective organization and polished language use. • 2. Analysis Of PV, Battery And DER System PV, Battery and CHP modification Class Diagram of PV PV The class diagram above shows the representation of a PV DER system with its logical nodes as properties. It is important to point out that a PV may have additional logical nodes or components based on its description. The representation above is a reflection of the implementation to be used in conducting our HUAS lab test. The diagram is an extension to that of deliverable 6.2.2. The modifications allowed for the DER systems to be functional and object oriented. From a programing perspective it seemed that some encapsulation was missing and as such some of the attributes of the classes were changed from public to protected or private where deemed necessary. The 96 values are then written to the DER server(via JPB iec61850) where the registry reads them (via iec61850 JPB) and makes a printout for comparison and then writing them to the registry s database. Once written to the database the aggregator reads all 96 values (via the rest API) and selects what it would like to use as set points. After selecting the desired value(s) it is then written directly to the DER server (iec61850 JPB ) as a set point for the logical device the availability represents. Lastly the smart gateway is notified that of the change in the DER server and a check is made to see if that was the value sent by the aggregator. Smart Gateway ( Node RED) This is the flow representing the communication between the Java Python Bridge and the Smart Gateway (realized on Node RED). There are mainly three main streams of communication are based on (1) Receiving a setpoint, (2) Returning a status from the respective Device and (3) Updating the schedule with 96 values. 1. The setpoint is received with an address or a specific reference to which device that should be controlled as well as whether if it is a simulation or a live test. Then the SG accordingly processes this message into a suitable format for the following nodes in the flow. And finally sends the setpoint to the respective Flow in which the recipient device is being managed. 2. Each of these devices will respond accordingly to the setpoint given and as soon as the given command from
  • 3. Nutrition for Sport Introduction An athlete needs to ensure that they consume enough fuel to complete activities undertaken. The amount of energy required depends on many factors including size and weight of the athlete, level and intensity of the training, and due to this the amount of energy required varies from person to person. However if more energy is consumed than required, the excess is stored as fat and weight will increase, on the other hand if insufficient energy is consumed the body calls upon its stores to meet the demand and weight will be lost. To consume a balanced diet we need to consume items from the macro and micro nutrient groups. Macronutrients comprise of carbohydrates, lipids and protein. Carbohydrates are quickly accessible and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Female Tennis Player The athletes calorie requirements need to be worked out what is required every day before any training is added in. To do this the same calculation was made as the female runner, except instead of 8.7 x kg it is 14.7 x kg and 496 is added instead of 829, this is because this athlete is in a different age group. Again activity requirement is taken into consideration, at 450 calories an hour, and as exact training figures are not available it has been estimated at 6 hours training a week, which then works out as an extra 2700 calories a week. This figure is then divided by 7 to give the extra calories needed each day. So this athlete needs a total of 3384 calories a day to maintain her current stature. Again the daily allowance needs to be divided between the macronutrients. According to National Institute of Nutrition (2007) this athlete needs CHO:Lipids:Protein at 60:25:15. Once again the calories are converted into grams. See Appendix 1. Using this information there was a deficit across the board, see Appendix 2. When analysing her food diary it has been noted that very little water had been consumed, she only had 3 litres over the 3 days but she did consume a bottle of lucozade on 2 of the 3 days. However she did have a bottle of wine, which took up a massive 9% of her 3 days allowance. Alcohol is not good for you as it dehydrates the body, which in turn makes it harder to train the following day. Very little fresh
  • 4. Treaty of Waitangi TREATY OF WAITANGI The Treaty of Waitangi is an agreement between the British Crown and the Maori people. The Treaty of Waitangi was signed on the sixth of February 1840 by 43 Northland chiefs and Lieutenant Governor Hobson. The Treaty recognized Maori people occupied New Zealand prior to British. The Treaty of Waitangiallowed the Crown to set up a government to establish laws, and recognised that MДЃori people owned their lands and other properties. Initially this worked well. MДЃori were eager to sell land, and settlers eager to buy. However after a while MДЃori became disillusioned and less willing to

The Diagnosis Of Heart Disease DATA MINING IN THE DIAGNOSIS OF HEART DISEASE Data mining as it has been established is simply a way of getting hidden knowledge or information from data, the technique(s) employed search for concurrency, relationships, and outliers in this data that they present as knowledge [4]. This knowledge can then be used in different applications. Prediction is one of the ways that the hidden knowledge gotten from the data can be used. The main aim is to use a large number of past values to consider probable future [9]. Heart disease is the common term for a variety of diseases, conditions, and disorders that affect the heart and the blood vessels [6]. Symptoms of heart disease vary depending on the type of heart disease. Congenital heart disease suggests to a problem with the heart s structure and function due to abnormal heart development before birth. Congestive heart failure is when the heart does not pump adequate blood to the other organs in the body [8]. Coronary heart disease or in its medical term Ischemic heart disease is the most frequent type of heart problem [24]. Coronary heart disease is a term that refers to damage to the heart that happens because its blood supply is decreased; it leads to fatty deposits build up on the linings of the blood vessels that provide the heart muscles with blood, resulting in heart failure. Heart disease prediction using data mining is one of the most interesting and challenging tasks. Shortage of specialists and high wrongly diagnosed
  • 6. The Political Beliefs Of The Shia And Shia Sunni and Shia are part of the 1.6 billion followers of Muslims across the world. After all, Shia are a minority group that have been recently attacked by Sunnis. Shias are being targeted and killed for their beliefs. Yet, Sunni and Shia have many similar beliefs and customs, but their main difference is based on who should be the political figure. When the Sunni and Shia chose different political figures, they also came upon different ideology. Soon as the prophet Muhammad died in the seventh century, he did not designate a political ruler after his death. Thus, the country was left without an appointed figure leaving the Muslim community without a caliphate. Consequently, the people had to decide who was going to be appointed as the leader of the Muslim community. The Sunni believed that Abu Bakr should be the leader and was given the popularity of the vote, but Shia believed that the family of the prophet should be the leader. Shia argued that only Aliwas qualified to uphold the spiritual values that underpinned the whole future direction of Islam. (Rogerson 5) The disagreement of who should be leader grew to the establishment of Shia, who supported Ali. Shia believed that Ali should have been the first caliphinstead of Abu Bakr being the first. Shia came to the conclusion that Sunni falsified hadith and Abu angered Fatima, in which Fatima was part of Muhammad causing Shia to believe that he does not have right to become first caliph. As a result, that left Sunni

I was becoming overwhelmed; however, I started thinking back to an article that I read in my local paper. This article discussed how methamphetamine has become a prevalent issue in small communities. I also found a statistic that blew my mind and made me want to research this drug and how it can affect my potential students life and learning. According to the United States government, reported in 2008, that approximately 13 million people over the age of 12 have used methamphetamine(website). That is a lot of young lives being touch by methamphetamine. As a future teacher planning to live ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is believed that a chemical called amphetamine was created in 1887 in Germany. The chemical amphetamine was later synthesized (adding some extra molecules) by a Japanese chemist to create the drug we are now familiar with, Methamphetamine (Norquist, 2012, p. 8). Methamphetamine (chemical related to amphetamine) became widely used during World War II as an injectable drug that was given to soldiers as sort of pick me up for various missions (Website). Methamphetamine was known to keep soldiers focused, boost energy and be able to perform under the extreme duress of war (Reding, 2009, p. 45). The Japanese also would give high doses of methamphetamine to their Kamikaze pilots who were on sent on suicide missions (Website). Later Japan made the drug available to the public because of the overabundant amounts left from the war. This caused epidemic abuse of injectable methamphetamine issues for their country. In the 1950 s methamphetamine became a prescribed drug which combated depression and a diet aid (Website). Methamphetamine was also often used as stimulant for college students, truck drivers, etc. which contributed to methamphetamine abuse across all socioeconomic groups, ages, and populations
  • 8. Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD) I pick my son up from school from time to time and usually speak with his teacher to see how he is doing in class. The teacher always tells me about his hyperactive behavior and suggests me and my wife take him to see a doctor and have him tested for ADHD. I have a long list of people in my family who have been diagnosed with ADHD and I have personally seen the side effects from the medication, so I have been a little reluctant to bring him in to be tested. My child is indeed hyperactive, but I look back before ADHD was even a disorder and wonder what happened to teachers and parents being patient and learning how to work around the disorder without medication due to the horrible side effects that the medication causes. There are many reasons ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Researchers have found numerous ways to curb the symptoms of this disorder without the harsh medications. The alternative ways are changing the child s diet, you can give your child supplements like fish oil, increased physical activity, brain training therapies, and better parenting skills. Most family doctors will not suggest these things to parents because most parents are looking for a quick fix and doctors do not make any money from not prescribing medication. A child with ADHD requires more attention and most parents are too busy to give it to them, so they look for the quick fix, but doctors are not going over the alternative treatments or the dangerous side effects from the medication, they just listen to the parent for 5 10 minutes, ask the child a few questions, do a quick physical, and give medicine. The doctor usually never goes over the length side effects, the harm the medication does to the child over a long period of time, or the alternative treatments that can help. I m almost positive any responsible parent would want to know these things and I believe it is the doctor s responsibility to give them the information before prescribing it to their

Dysregulation of AVP release leads to dilutional hyponatremia associated with liver and heart failure which increases morbidity and mortality (12, 23, 37, 51, 53, 65). The prevalence of hyponatremiadespite treatment with AVP antagonist to increase urine output, improve plasma sodium levels, and reduce ascites is prominent (5, 16, 52, 65). Our working hypothesis is highly novel in that it focuses on BDNF from SON can contribute to increased intracellular chloride, which in turn influence changes in AVP release and hyponatremia during liver cirrhosis (Figure 1). Our hypothesis will be addressed by the following specific aims: 1. To determine the role of BDNF TrKB signaling in hyponatremia through sustained AVP release during hepatic cirrhosis. 2. To understand the role of estrogen in preventing the chronic activation of vasopressin neurons in female bile duct ligated rats. These experiments will for the first time define the roles of BDNF TrkB signaling in the hepatic cirrhosis induced sustained AVP release along with sex differences in the regulation of AVP release. An integrative approach will be employed that includes AAV shRNA knockdown in whole animal experiments, molecular changes in RNA and protein expression, in vitro chloride imaging with ClopHensorN and functional studies of fluid balance and circulating AVP in the rat. These studies will address several critical gaps in the literature by determining the neural adaptations that contribute to pathophysiology in an animal model of dilutional hyponatremia. 2. Background, Significance and Innovation: Dilutional hyponatremia is the most important electrolyte abnormality
  • 11. Adult Development Essay 1.How did Adult Development theory and metacognition impact you personally as you worked through this case study? Watching the case study I felt angry and hurt for those kids. It is always disappointing and heart braking, when kid has to be taken away from their parents. The fact that the kids had to be separated from each other, as Jasmine Donnelly stated the worse thing is little Amber will not even remember her. It is sad when adults fail to fully transition from one stage of our life to the next stage, Levinson and his colleagues breaks down the different transitional period and the different components that it consist of. English Oxford Living Dictionaries In the book Animal Farm by George Orwell, Old Major, an old pig, is depicted as a good leader. A good leader puts others before themselves, is humble, willing to serve, and inspires people to do their best. Old Major is the character that exemplifies these traits. In the book, Old Major is gathering up support for a rebellion against Mr. Jones, the head farmer, in the hopes of an easier and more prosperous future. And now, comrades, I will tell you about my dream of last night. I cannot describe that dream to you. It was a dream of the earth as it will be when Man has vanished. But it reminded me of something that I had long forgotten (Orwell 6). Since the beginning of civilization, there have always been leaders. There have been great leaders and bad leaders. However, following his dispute with his uncle, Pierre Guerre, over the family inheritance, Pansette was accused of being an impostor, ultimately leading to his execution. Concluding the case, the court declared Bertrande and the Guerre familyvictims in the trial. The key passage for critics explicitly states Davis beliefs of Bertrande as an accomplice, But the obstinate and honorable Bertrande does not seem a woman so easily fooled, not even by a charmer like Pansette. By the time she had received him in her bed, she must have realized the difference; as any wife of Artigat would have agreed, there is no mistaking the touch of the man on the woman. Either by explicit or tacit agreement, she helped him become her husband (Davis, 44). The main argument is that Davis assumptions fail to take into account the ages of Bertrande and Martin during their marriage, as well as Bertrande s long abstinence as a possible reason for her memory failure. Yet, Davis arguments are far from imaginative, in fact, they are derived from the the thoughts of the French peasantry, including those of Judge Coras himself, She had shared her bed with the prisoner for more than three years, during which long interval it is not likely that the said de Rols would not have recognized him for a stranger... The Performance Measurement Of The Balanced Scorecard Balanced Scorecard A performance measurement tool The balanced scorecard (BSC) is an extensively used performance measurement tool introduced to take the strategy and vision of the business into real action from four perspectives: financial, customers, internally progress and learning and grow. (Kaplan and Norton, 1996) From all these four perspectives, it can be seen that this measurement tool is different from others because it concentrates on both financial and operational information rather than only financial figures which make the tool provide a more comprehensive of the business to shareholders and customers. In these years, BSC has developed from the performance measurement tool to a strategic management system. ( Kaplan and Norton, 1996, p 37) However, this essay aims at introducing the balanced scorecard as a performance measurement from its origins, why business needs it, how it can be utilized, how the business can get benefits from adopting this measurement tool and what potential problems and limits it has. In the modern business world, intangible assets take a larger proportion than tangible assets in the structure of total assets because the modern business tends to provide service more than products and shareholders and customers pay more attention to the intangible assets rather than tangible assets. However, the actual value of intangible assets is difficult to calculate and present in the real business. In this situation, the balanced scorecard is

  • 23. Characteristics Of The Early Civilizations Of Mesopotamia The characteristics shown in the early civilizations of Mesopotamia are still evident in today s world because without these basic standards set by the people of Mesopotamia, civilization could never have grown or had a reference point for the basic building blocks of society. Mesopotamia was able to grow through the development of technology, trade, stable political and military systems, and a class system that contributed to society . Mesopotamias way of life influenced many other civilizations such as the ones in Egypt, Eastern Europe, and in Asia. Without Mesopotamia s innovation, civilizations may have never been able to find a concrete system that allowed society to not only to survive but thrive. One of the main reasons Mesopotamia was such a success was because it abandoned the old traditional ways of earlier civilizations by settling in one specific spot. Before Mesopotamia, most civilizations were nomadic . They would travel around Europe, Asia, and Africa looking for food and water. The group of people who had settled in Mesopotamia no longer needed to travel to find different food supplies. The land settled by the first civilization in Mesopotamia was located near the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers. These rivers were able to supply both a reliable water source and also allowed a trade route with the other budding civilizations located on the rivers . A reliable water source was imperative to a budding civilization because it allowed both drinking water and an

The purpose of Hermeneutics is to bridge the gap between our minds and the minds of the Biblical writers through a thorough knowledge of the original languages, ancient history and the comparison of Scripture with Scripture. Through Hermeneutics, Biblical Interpretation can be achieved in three ways; historically, the message and the doctrine. One of the key characteristics of their approach to the Bible is its emphasis on the need to understand the nature of the different types of literature within the bible. If one needs a special leading edge procedure that s not available where he lives, he can simply fly to a place that offers it. Being rich means one can give his family a better life, plus opportunities that only money can buy. One will have time and resource to travel, meets nearly anyone he wants, and enters in the
  • 33. The Idea Of Vengeance In Homer s Odyssey Vengeance happens every single day. Ever since the attack on the World Trade Center tragically occurred on September 11, 2001, the United States of America targeted and pursued the man who was responsible for the attack: Osama Bin Laden. Ten years later, the United States of America succeeded locating and killing Osama bin Laden; as well as avenging the lives that were lost on September 11, 2001, and the soldiers who gave their lives protecting the United States of America. The concept of vengeance has been shown in movies, television, and literature. In Western dramas, vengeance is one of the main concepts portrayed in Greek literature, particularly in Aeschylus s Agamemnon. Aeschylus s Agamemnon is a Greek tragedy that centers on the protagonist, Clytemnestra; who seeks vengeance against her husband, Agamemnon. Agamemnon sacrificed his and Clytemnestra s eldest daughter, Iphigenia, to escape the wrath of Artemis, goddess of the hunt. Thus, the concept of vengeance affects justice, sacrifice, and forgiveness. The concept of vengeance is indicated in several Greek plays. The concept of vengeance is demonstrated in Aeschylus s Agamemnon, Euripides Medea, and Homer s The Iliad and the Odyssey. Aeschylus s Agamemnon is the first installment of Aeschylus s The Oresteia, that begins the cycle of vengeance with the murder of Agamemnon. Despite the stigma of vengeance, it s as natural to the human species as love and sex. In art and culture, everyone roots for the

The National Security Agency, a government agency known for it s efforts in spying and surveillance, has been at the center of this issue since it s founding in the 1950 s. The Cold War had just begun and the United Statesgovernment was doing anything they could to find potential terrorists and communists. In fact, many famous people including Einstein were being spied on by the government to find citizens with potential ties to the Soviet Union. (New York Times New Details Emerge from the Einstein Files; How the FBI Tracked His Phone Calls and His Trash) As the cold war came to an end in the early 90 s, NSA spying seemed to come to an end as well. However, their efforts stepped up significantly after the terror attacks that occurred on 9/11. After 9/11, the government was on high alert for anybody that could be a potential terrorist. The NSA quickly began spying on foreigners suspected of being involved in terrorist activities or associating with potential terrorists. (Wikipedia Mass Surveillancein the United States) Soon after this, they started intercepting phone conversations and even internet traffic through a program known as PRISM. This program was kept secret for quite a while until NSA contractor Edward Snowden leaked thousands of documents to reporters. (PBS How Edward Snowden Leaked Thousands of NSA Documents) While

  • 36. The Arguments Against Legalizing Marijuana Marijuana is the most used drug by teens and adults today. There are many strong arguments against the legalization of marijuana; there are also many valid reasons to legalize the drug. Although marijuana alters the natural brain functions like: memory, attentiveness, and coordination, keeping it illegal will not stop people from using the drug, but it imposes on other issues that need to be solved. With legalizing marijuana it would give law enforcement motive to focus on real crimes, the government would make a huge profit by taxing it, and it can also be beneficial for some medical needs. Marijuana is the most valuable cash crop. By placing a tax on marijuana will not only help the economy bloom, but it would also help the government greatly. Keeping marijuana illegal is becoming expensive... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The argument that marijuana is illegal because it is life threatening or causes health issues is eliminated. Marijuana is a drug just like any other drug we take to make us feel better. It is prescribed to people for medical means. Marijuana helps lower the number of seizures a person has in a life span. It is bizarre to not have it legal when it could potentially be lifesaving. The possession of marijuana, or the usage of marijuana does not cause any harm to society; therefore, it should not be considered a crime. Legalizing it keeps the police force busy with real crimes that occur. With marijuana legal it will allow the law to spend more money on other issues such as; homicide, robbery and prostitution. Arresting and jailing people for marijuana is occupying space that could be used for the real

Growth can sometimes flourish so fast that it can be hard to keep track of especially in the areas that it may be easily overlooked until it comes to be necessary, such as the ethics. This new type of technological development brings ethical concerns upon us, just how it brought a cultural awakening upon society. There are many inquiries that arise when looking at the relationship that exists between computers and ethics. But before we can look at the role computers have with ethics, we first need to understand why it is extremely significant to acknowledge this connection, along with the possible effects that may come about it if this relationship is ignored or forgotten. Let s take a look at a unique instance which involves computers and their association with ethics and social media, something almost everyone is a part of today. This case revolves around a recent phone app, called Tinder, which has become popular for both males and females in college campuses. The app allows males and females to log on through their Facebook accounts, which allows for them to share their pictures, age, and mutual friends with others around them. Then once one is registered on the app, a picture of the other sex pops up and they either swipe away or like it, in which it then matches them up with that other person. So essentially this app is dating app for young college students, where males and females have the potential to stalk and talk to others of the opposite sex that live a certain radius from them, and maybe possibly actually meet and date (very unlikely). Tinder is very similar to other dating apps, however it makes it a lot less complicated for college students so that they are easily able

  • 40. Disney Princess Movies, On Gender Stereotyping Introduction Founded by Groves in 1999, the Cultivation Theory came into existence (Graves, 1999). The theory states that exposure to television develops social behavior and norms. At a young age, we are only just entering the stage in their lives where we are beginning to think for ourselves and develop our own personal beliefs and values. Our minds are gullible and can be easily manipulated. This particular empirical study analyzes the effects due to media, specifically Disney princess movies, on gender stereotyping. Gender stereotyping can be defined as common generalizations used to describe gender roles in society, specific attributes associated with each gender, and the differences between each. Many a time, gender stereotypes are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Literature Review Roles Throughout the Disney films, traditional feminine and masculine characteristics are exhibited by each respectively through behaviors and decisions (Graves, 1999). Thompson and Zerbinos(1995) conducted a study consisting of 89 children (ages four to nine years) to analyze their interpretation of how female and male characters are presented in Disney movies. The results displayed that boys were more active and aggressive, while girls were viewed as loving, domestic, and concerned with their appearances (Thompson and Zerbinos, 1995). In Cinderella, for instance, Cinderella is portrayed as a slave to her step mother. She is mainly found doing domestic work, such as cooking and cleaning, without complaint. She even sings and smiles throughout. Domestic work is used as an act of submission to the superior of the female character and is shown as a method to gain love from others. Charlotte, from The Princess and the Frog, is constantly shown doing housework as well. Her mother is even known as the finest seamstress in New Orleans, as sewing is highly associated with female characteristics (Towbin et al, 2008). As can be explained via the cultivation theory, the ideology demonstrated by Disney films that domestic work is a female chore causes girls and boys to form that particular social standard and follow it just so. Even today, the role of the woman was shown to be motherly and house

Eileen Barker illustrates brainwashing as the control the religious leaders have exerted over their followers . This questions whether belief is imposed or cultivated. Highlighting the sense of doubt in postmodernist texts, one may find that some things, such as religion, cannot be explained. Faithcan waver or hold steadfast, characters revisiting belief in skepticism as ideology falters. In The Satanic Verses, truth and falsity is ultimately ambiguous. Some characters are featured as wrestling with religious doubt, others like Gibreel and Saladin think over their atheism after supernatural events. • 43. Classic Literature and Comic Books Because of the timeless nature of classic literature, it has a large influence in today s world. We see movies created and plays directed over and over again based on the same stories created hundreds of years ago. Even though classical literature and comic books differ in many ways, classical literature has a strong influence on comic books. Teachers have always taught classical literature in high schools and colleges as a way to help students appreciate literature and vocabulary. People read comic books on the other hand to get away from learning and appreciating literature to escape to superheroes and supervillains, in the battle of good versus evil. Classical literature has an influence on the characters, types of different comic books, and plots that are scripted and developed. Comic books have some of the most recognizable characters that people will ever read. Readers of comic books who do not read classical literature do not know that classical literature has an influence on comic books. Lewis Carroll s Alice s Adventures in Wonderland contributes many of its characters having shown up in a comic book at one point or another. Games have evolved from two dots moving around on the screen to a realistic looking man being decapitated with a chainsaw. This incredible evolution has made gaming from something people would play in a bar into a multi billion dollar industry that grosses more than the movie and music industries combined. However, because video games have become so realistic, the violent ones have been questioned for their impact on one s mental health. On the other hand, Scientists have also looked into the good side of playing violent video games; making links such as juvenile crime decline, reducing violence, and the fact that opposing scientists can not actually find a link between violent games and violent behavior. Introduction Today the use of a computer has provided many privileges to its users, and among those privileges the main and largest one is the distribution of information across the internet. Thus because no one realized the true potential of the internet (nor was the technology available at the time), no great amount of information was transferred from computer to computer, at least by the average person. Each file had to be transferred physically by floppy discs that could only hold an insignificant 1.44 Megabytes. Sure, you could still share files back then, but this required the physical act of getting the disk, transferring it to your computer, and then copying the file. All this took a relatively large amount of effort compared to the copy and paste methods of copying files today. After a while around 1995, a small underground network of file sharing developed through the use of a medium known as mIRC. m IRC is basically the early version of today s chat rooms with the exception that most users identities can be kept hidden from one another while still allowing the users to exchange information freely. These users created their own private FTP sites which other users could upload and download from. These users became labeled as internet pirates , who dedicated their time to obtaining the latest software and other such files to upload to FTP sites whose IP addresses changed constantly so that they could not be tracked. There is something so spiritual about surfing. I have never surfed a day in my life but every time I watch others surf I feel this yearning to pick up a board and join them. It looks like one of the most dangerous but most fulfilling activities at the same time. I once read somewhere that humans are attracted to water and enjoy being in water because 70% of our body is made up of water and at molecular level, we crave water. When I watch surfers, I feel that it s true and that I m being pulled into the waters from deep within myself. It s no surprise the sound of waves calms most people and helps them to relax. We associate the sounds of the ocean with calmness so surfers are just people in search of the ultimate mediation.
