This document compares the filmmaker's trailer to three other films: The Blair Witch Project is similar in its found footage horror genre set in sinister woods, with characters searching for something unknown. Both also target audiences aged 16-25. You're Next is similar in its traditional horror genre with antagonists committing violent crimes while wearing animal masks to hide their identities, as in the filmmaker's trailer. The target audiences are also around age 18 and unisex. La Haine shares similarities in its theme of protest, with youths taking extreme measures against police. In the filmmaker's trailer, transparent animals protest lockdown rules against police in the same way. Both also follow four youthful characters on

The Blair Witch Project (BWP)
This film is very similar to ours in that it fits within
the same genre of horror and found footage. Found
footage has an informal feel that can allow
audiences to easily picture themselves as their
favourite characters in a film, as it often includes
POV filming, that may appear amateurish, but
equally, spontaneous. Furthermore, The BWP is
like our film in its use of the woods as setting, with
its sinister connotations and menacing undertone.
Another way our films compare is with the theme of
quests. In both films, the characters are out in the
woods searching for something, this helps build up
tension as the audience never know when and
what will appear. Finally, both our target audiences
are somewhat similar, aged 16-25, unisex.

You’re Next (YN)
The genre of YN and our trailer are similar, they’re
both traditional horror films with antagonists
committing violent crimes. The main aspect that is
similar between the two films is the use of animal
masks. In YN, the antagonists always wear animal
mask to protect their identity (e.g. lamb mask and
fox mask), like in our film where the transparent
animals wear masks to hide their identities. The
target audience for both the films is also relatively
similar, being around the age of 18 and unisex, but
slightly leaning towards a male audience due to the
blood and gore.

La Haine (LH)
LH is a French film made in 1995 following the story
of four friends during riots in Paris. This film, albeit in
French, has many similarities to our trailer. One
similarity being the theme of protest, in LH, protests
break out in Paris after one of the friends is seriously
injured by a police officer and it is unsure whether
he will live, the other three friends say they will go to
extreme measures such as killing a cop if their friend
dies. This ties in with the theme of protest in our
trailer. The Transparent Animals protesting the
lockdown rules against the police and going to
extreme measures to do so. Furthermore, the theme
of four youthful boys on a mission is evident in both
LH and our trailer, so this is another similarity.
