2. I. COMMUNITY SEED BANKING PROGRAM is an initiative of the City Agriculture Office
under the high valued crops development program. The CSB will be implemented at the
Barangay level.
Its core functions are to maintain, safeguard, and exchange local and
farmer-preferred seeds for local use.
It performs the following three functions:
Conserve local varieties and restore varieties that have disappeared from
the community.
Provide access to good quality seeds and make them readily available at a
low cost to farmers who are interested in or in need of seed.
Serve as a platform for community development.
3. II. Minimum Criteria:
a. Active support from the Barangay Council and Barangay Agricultural and Fishery
Council.
b. Should have a minimum area of at least 500 – 1000 square meters or more.
III. Management:
a. City Agricultural Office.
1. Technical assistance from crop establishment to harvesting and seed selection.
2. Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL).
3. Led in the conduct of trainings.
b. Barangay Council and Barangay Agricultural and Fishery Council (BAFC)
1. In charged in the management, care, and maintenance of the CSB garden (Seeds
to Seeds Garden)
2. In charge in the identification of the beneficiaries.
3. Records all production and distribution.
4. Allocate fund for the maintenance of the CSB garden.

The City Agriculture will provide vegetable seeds.
