1. Communities Reflection
Communities:
I think a community is group of people who are connected.
I identify with a variety of communities such as Student Council, Club
Football, Chinese, BISS and Christian. I enjoy belonging to my Club
Football community the most because it can make my soccer skillsbetter
and I can becomemore healthy.I think communities are important for
people because it can help build a sense of belonging, prevents people
being lonely, builds enjoyment and friendship.
My Virtual Community:
I was a member of a Flat Classroom Community called Team2: Food
B.While working with my community in Edmodo, I learned that in the
American they eat turkey in the thanksgiving.I discovered that my team
members and I had commonalities such as we all have different
celebrations. I also discovered that we had differences such as we have
different hobbies and different favorite foods.I enjoyed being a
member of this community because I could make many new friends and I
can know many things about other countries.It was challenging to
understand the question and write long comments.
Media Collection:
I collected media to teach my community aboutwhat you eat in Lantern
Festival.I collected photos and videos such as picture of sushi and my
favorite snack. The most important photo I shared wasmy dinner. It was
important because it showed what Chinese people eat for dinner.
Voice Thread Presentation:
I explained my media in a VoiceThread presentation. I enjoyed working
with VoiceThread because it is fun to record my voice and it was very
exciting. It was challenging to explainhow geography impacts your topic
because it is difficult to understand the question’s meaning. I think I
explained how can we connect with each other through commonalitiesthe
best because I told my group all about why we are good friends.Next
time I use VoiceThread, I will try not to make mistakes and speak more
slowly.
What else?
During this unit I especially enjoyed Voice Thread.After this unit, I will
continue to use Edmodo because I can learn about another country’s
things but most important thing is I can make new friends.
