1. Communities Reflection
Communities:
I think a community is a group of people which is connected.
I enjoy belonging to my CelebrationscA community the most because it’s fun
talking with them and asking questions. I think communities are important
for people because we can make friends and to learn about the other people
in communities.
My Virtual Community:
I was a member of a Flat Classroom Community called CelebrationsA. While
working with my community in Edmodo, I learned how to use Edmodo and
how to send a good greetingwith comments. I discovered that my team
members and I had commonalities such as we both were interested in
languages and we both had religion and we both were interested in
celebrations. I also discovered that we had differences such as they
celebrate Christian celebrations and I celebrate Hindus celebrations.
I enjoyed being a member of this community because it was fun learning
about the celebrations in their religions and hearing about how they
celebrate their birthdays. It was challenging to send them great comments.
Media Collection:
I collected media to teach my community about the things in the other
countries. I collected photos and videos about Christmas, Diwali, Holi,
Chinese New Year and Moon Cake Festival. The most important photo I
shared wasDiwali. It was important because it showed a lot of information
about my culture.
Voice Thread Presentation:
I explained my media in a VoiceThread presentation. I enjoyed working with
VoiceThread because it was fun commenting aloud and
I like speaking, but if someone walked inwe had to record it again. It was
challenging to explain about Moon cake festival because I don’t know
anything about Moon cake festival. I think I explained Diwalithe best
because I told my group all about what do we do in Diwali and I gave them
a lot of informetion about my religion.Next time I use VoiceThread, I will
try to speak more clearly and speak louder.
What else?
During this unit I especially enjoyed doing the VoiceThreadAfter this unit, I
will continue to learn more about Edmodo because there are lots of
communities to join.
