Task 2:
Please read the following case study carefully and answer the
questions given below.
A Multinational Construction Company is in operation for more
than a decade with different departments in
operation for planning, designing and architecture, all the
departments in the company regularly interacts with
each other and also with external contractors and engineers
through email communication system for constant,
frequent, timely access and file sharing among other members.
Due to the old architectural renderings of Mail Server, currently
it clogged the company's e-mail servers
affecting workflow and impeding progress on projects. So it
caused a major disruption on their operation as
they mainly depended on e-mail communication with clients.
So the above said company approached you to take over the
matter and do the necessary steps to implement a
stable and reliable communication systems infrastructure by
considering the key benefit factors such as,

Assume that you have been assigned with the complete
responsibility of getting the work done. As a first step,
you are asked to get a case study proposal for the proposed cost
effective communication system. You must do
a research based review of literature on the available
communication systems; short list the preferred
communication system, based on your study and critically
analyze their services and provide a detailed report
that will answer the following questions:

Question 1:
Critically compare and contrast your preferred communication
system with other communication systems in
terms of work flow and administration scenarios. Provide
justification for your choice.
(20 marks)
Question 2:
Analyse the various risk factors associated with implementing
the recommended communication systems. Also
discuss on how it can be minimized.
(20 marks)
Question 3:
Recommend the company to deal with your suggested
communication systems by submitting a detailed design
report in the form of a network trial environment for mail server
communication.
(20 marks)
Question 4:
To support your case study analysis report, Identify and analyze
research based article related to your
recommended communication system, include the article
summary of your reflection in your report and also
refer the article link as evidence.
(30 marks)
Task 3:
Be ready for a viva with your teacher to demonstrate your
knowledge in preparing the assignment. Produce
evidences (if any) during your presentation.
Note: Task 3 is compulsory. No marks will be awarded to task 2
without viva.

Evaluation Criteria:
You would be evaluated on the following:
• Originality of answer, i.e. writing in your own words with
some amount of referenced material with
proper literature underpinning.
• Oral examination: Your Assignment marks are based on the
VIVA which will be conducted upon
submission of assignment. The VIVA will be based on the
questions/tasks given in the assignment.
ZERO mark will be awarded to the student if she / he is absent
for VIVA.
• Correct information analysis and presentation in document
form.
• Adequate referencing and citation provided.
• Examples can be provided.

Plagiarism Policy
Plagiarised documents, in parts or whole, submitted by the
students will be rejected. For the first offence of
plagiarism, a student enrolled in undergraduate programme is
penalised with a deduction of 25% of the
awarded marks on the assessment as per the plagiarism policy
statement and is allowed to re-submit the work
once, within a week‘s period. The student has the right to
appeal against the decision made, to the respective
Programme Coordinator. Further appeal on decision taken may
be made to the Head of the concerned
department. If the student is not satisfied by the decisions taken
by the department, s/he can appeal to the
Plagiarism Appeals Committee.
For the second offence of plagiarism against the student,
(committed in any semester after the semester of the
student‘s first offence of plagiarism in the tenure of the student
in the undergraduate programme), the student
is awarded zero in the assessment where plagiarised content was
found. The student is not allowed to re-
submit the assessment. The student has the right to appeal
against the decision made to the respective
Programme Coordinator. Further appeal on decision taken may
be made to the Head of the concerned
department. If the student is not satisfied by the decisions taken
by the department, s/he can appeal to the
Plagiarism Appeals Committee.
Repeated offences of plagiarism by the student (more than two
times) are dealt with as per the college policy
on Academic Dishonesty as mentioned in the Student Handbook.
All decisions on plagiarism related offences will be
communicated to the student by the respective module
instructors, using routine channels of communication with
students, currently used by the college, preferably
on the same day the charges are confirmed or the very next
working day.
The student has the right to appeal against the decision
informed by the module instructor to the respective
Programme Coordinator. Further appeal on decision taken may
be made to the Head of the concerned

department. If the student is not satisfied by the decisions taken
by the department, s/he can appeal to the
Plagiarism Appeals Committee.
In certain cases, the student may be required to appear for an
interview with the module instructor, if deemed
necessary.
The maximum time limit given to a student to raise appeal
against the charges of plagiarism is two working days
including the day on which the matter is informed to the
student. It is preferable that the appeals are made on
the same day of the college on which the student is informed of
the issue. All appeals must be made during
regular working hours of the college.
Late Submission
Penalty for late submission - 5% of the awarded mark specified
for the assessment will be deducted for each
working day.
Assessment documents submitted beyond a period of one week
after the last date of submission will not be
accepted and will be marked as zero for that assessment.

For the first offence of plagiarism, a student enrolled in undergraduate programme is penalised with a deduction of 25% of the awarded marks on the assessment as per the plagiarism policy statement and is allowed to re-submit the work once, within a week‘s period. The student has the right to appeal against the decision made, to the respective Programme Coordinator. Further appeal on decision taken may be made to the Head of the concerned department. If the student is not satisfied by the decisions taken by the department, s/he can appeal to the Plagiarism Appeals Committee.

For the second offence of plagiarism against the student, (committed in any semester after the semester of the student‘s first offence of plagiarism in the tenure of the student in the undergraduate programme), the student is awarded zero in the assessment where plagiarised content was found. The student is not allowed to re- submit the assessment. The student has the right to appeal against the decision made to the respective Programme Coordinator. Further appeal on decision taken may be made to the Head of the concerned department. If the student is not satisfied by the decisions taken by the department, s/he can appeal to the Plagiarism Appeals Committee. Repeated offences of plagiarism by the student (more than two times) are dealt with as per the college policy
  • 14. on Academic Dishonesty as mentioned in the Student Handbook. All decisions on plagiarism related offences will be communicated to the student by the respective module instructors, using routine channels of communication with students, currently used by the college, preferably on the same day the charges are confirmed or the very next working day. The student has the right to appeal against the decision informed by the module instructor to the respective Programme Coordinator. Further appeal on decision taken may be made to the Head of the concerned Communication Server Administration (COMP 30005)-FALL 16-CW1 (CASE STUDY)-ALL-QP-AK Page 6 of 8
  • 15. department. If the student is not satisfied by the decisions taken by the department, s/he can appeal to the Plagiarism Appeals Committee. In certain cases, the student may be required to appear for an interview with the module instructor, if deemed necessary. The maximum time limit given to a student to raise appeal against the charges of plagiarism is two working days including the day on which the matter is informed to the student. It is preferable that the appeals are made on the same day of the college on which the student is informed of the issue. All appeals must be made during regular working hours of the college.
