Commitment and Responsibilities of Teachers
As a teacher, we play an important role as a reflective practitioner who continually evaluates the effects of our choices and actions on our students, the parents and other professionals in the learning community and we also actively seeks out opportunities to grow professionally.
Being a good teacher is one who has the ability to learn as much from our students as they learn from us. In an effort to match instruction to the needs of students, we need to spend time evaluating the implications of our teaching decisions in the classroom. This is the mark of a reflective practitioner. Such self-reflection leads to greater knowledge about our students, the subject being taught and the act of teaching.
Self-reflection also takes place in considering us teacher’s relationships with the parents and educational professionals. The responsibilities of teachers in a democratic society include that of working with a community of concerned individual students who rally around one central goal: educating our students. The students learn much from their experiences within their families and the outside word. Recognizing these facts, we as the teacher must cultivate strong relationships with parents as well as with educational professionals, constantly reevaluating the effects of our decisions on all whom are involved with the education of the students.
Commitment and Responsibilities of Students
According to Gretchen Lindell, associate academic dean for Jamestown Business College, “these students have taken the initiative of earning a higher education, but even so, to be successful is not a given.quot;
As a student, it is their responsibility to know, understand and obey the rules and regulations, and seek clarification when needed from the school, teachers and fellow students. Students must specifically demonstrate a commitment to and accept responsibility for acting in accordance with the school rules and regulations. Understand the policies for academic honesty and teachers expectations, as they are all set forth in the school rules and regulations, and its handbook. Students should take personal responsibility for knowing and following any additional written or verbal requirements in their course work provided by their teachers on individual projects, papers, assignments or exams for a specific course or subject.
Commitment and Responsibilities of Parents
Parenting is not an easy task that anybody can accomplish with ease. Parenting demands a lot of commitment, sense of responsibility and perseverance during the process of upbringing a child. Roles of parents change according to the stage of child's development.
The most important responsibility any parent ever has is to raise a happy, healthy, well adjusted child. Nothing is more important than the well being of a child and the parent of a young performer has to be vigilant with their awareness and remain within the families own personal boundaries of behaviour.
A parent must teach their children most of the good behaviours and skills they have. A parent is also responsible for instilling in their child a professional work ethic, which includes being on time, paying attention, and being well prepared. Parents should take their responsibility seriously, be supportive and always attentive to their child’s needs but remain professional and appropriate.
As a parent, we must ensure that our child has an education for their very own future. We must also make sure that we are making good choices that are right for our child’s learning style.
As stated by BizParentz Foundation, “a good rule of thumb is to consider, “how will my child’s daughter feel if they saw this in 30 years?”. This means being conservative in where you put your child’s picture on the internet. It means carefully considering the kinds of roles you choose to allow your child to do (this isn’t the agent’s responsibility—it is yours!). You are the guardian of your child’s future.”
