This document describes a student capstone project to design a commercially feasible LED driver circuit of less than 15 watts. The project members are listed. The existing LED driver models have low efficiency and poor power factor and high import costs. The goals of this project are to design a higher efficiency driver using an IC with active power factor correction and protections. In the second trimester, the team powered up the IC, designed a preliminary circuit, and developed a working prototype. Their design uses a buck topology for higher efficiency and power factor compared to existing models.
