GOAL OF THIS PROGRAM To facilitate a smooth transition and assimilation into the new command, set the stage for a positive experience at the beginning of a tour, and to maintain an atmosphere for continued success.
OVERALL INCHARGE OF THE SPONSOR PROGRAM Command Master Chief Usually delegated to the Command Career Counselor.   (Career Information Program Review)
WHAT MAKES A SUCCESSFUL SPONSOR PROGRAM?   Maintain pool of trained sponsors. Assign sponsor within 5 day’s of notification of prospective gain, and initiate contact with member within 10 working days.
WHAT MAKES A SUCCESSFUL SPONSOR PROGRAM? CONT Provide sponsor POC info via email, Welcome Aboard Package, or message (all 3 is optimum). Integrate sponsor program on command tickler.
HOW ARE COMMAND’S NOTIFIED OF A PROSPECTIVE GAIN? Received orders. Enlisted Distribution Verification Report (EDVR), Section 1. Prospective gains in BUPERS Online. CIMS Direct contact from prospective gain.
SELECTING A SPONSOR Assigned sponsor will be E-5 and above. Be the same marital status as the prospective gain. Be enthusiastic and be willing to help people. Be positive toward the Navy, command, local community, and sponsor program.
SELECTING A SPONSOR CON’T Be familiar with the command and its location or homeport. Have successfully completed sponsor training. Not be the person the individual is slated to relieve.  The sponsor should remain onboard the command for at least 6 months after the arrival of the incoming service member.
WELCOME ABOARD PACKAGE Send at earliest possible date (within 10 working days of notification). Tailored for specific command: Location of command. Sponsor information. CO/CMC Letter.
WELCOME ABOARD PACKAGE Phone number of Command and sponsor. OMBUDSMAN information. Nice to have items... Photo, postcard, patch, etc.
WELCOME ABOARD PACKAGE Fleet & Family Support Centers: Provide AT LEAST the following information, including POC: Housing Financial services Local schools
