Comedy
 Genre
Semantic
‘ what communicates the audience with
          what's on screen.’
Semantic
• Characters: usually a group of friends this means that there will be enough
to act out the whole film and so that there are many character roles to play
as I don’t want them all the same. Mix of both male and female, no specific
age. The characters in comedy films tend to be very over the top which
adds to the overall jist of the film.
• Locations: public places, restaurants, café, someone’s house, in an
educational facility. Most times the location is what the story line runs on.
Most locations are places that would be expected to be filmed in such as the
popular venues where everyday events take place.
• Props: The props that are used in this genre are very simple everyday
items, this means that I wouldn’t have to go and purchase items as I don’t
have a large budget and would prefer it if I had to use my own items. The
story needs to be realistic so this is why I need to use simple props. Props
used would be simple props, everyday clothing, possibly some sporting
equipment, possibly a laptop, possibly a mobile phone. However it will all
depend on what my storyline is going to be.
Semantic
• Music: If i was to use music in the background of my trailer and if i
still do comedy then the music should start of quite slow and then
quicken up in pace as this will make the trailer seem more
  believable.
• Costume: The costumes used in comedy films tends to be clothing
that is worn in everyday activity. As long as the clothing worn is
something that links in with the overall idea of the film then it should
work out fine for instance if it was to be set in an office then they
would be in a suit and not in pyjamas as this would be unrealistic. I
need to make sure that the clothing used are everyday items as this
will help me out a lot as i dont really want to be out spending money
on clothing which wont ever be used again.
Syntactic
‘relations between this element and the
structure of narrative-what we expect to
                 happen.’
Syntactic
– In most comedy films there tends to be a large number of
characters involved of both genders and in most cases it
tends to be a range of ages and not just the one. With
having a number of characters it means that there will be
more of a situation and more of the personalities will come
out. In comedy films there tends to be some hilarious
moments and I need to make sure that these will be
suitable for all ages. Most of the outcomes tend to be
predictable, so I need to make sure to put my own twist
  onto my own one.
