Public Relations Research for Planning and EvaluationJohnson Wafula
This paper outlines and describes the various tools and techniques that public relations
practitioners ought to consider when designing and carrying out research projects for public
relations planning and for public relations measurement and evaluation purposes.
As a backlash, the professional model, which reflects a "we are the experts and you are not" attitude, alienated the police from the public. Problems and crime kept growing, and people wanted to be more involved in their communities. Therefore, community members started to work closely with the police. The police saw their resources diminish and decided it was critical to engage the communities to more effectively combat rising crime.
"Media Relations Instruction and Theory Development: A Relational Dialectical Approach" by Pettigrew in Journal of Public Relations Education (JPRE) Vol. 4, Issue 1 Spring 2018
ABSTRACT:
There has been almost no research in the area of media relations
instruction in the public relations literature. This study seeks to fill a
gap in theory-building in the area of media relations and examines
the state of media relations instruction in today’s public relations
curriculum through a survey of public relations professors. The
author suggests relational dialectical theory as a way to better
understand the relationship between public relations practitioners
and journalists, and proposes a relational dialectical approach
to theory-building and in teaching media relations in today’s
changing landscape.

Communication is critical for organizational performance. It transfers and conveys
information and ideas. Poor, lack of or limited communication has led to failure in achieving
purposes. Management and employees spend most of their time communicating. The purpose
of this study was to examine the role of communication policies in enhancing Kenyan public
universities performance. The objective was to examine the role of communication policies in
enhancing Kenyan public universities performance; a case of Masinde Muliro University of
Science and Technology (MMUST). It is hoped the findings and recommendations would
enlighten stakeholders to seriously consider communication policies for excellent
performance. The study population comprised of members of teaching, non-teaching staff
and student leaders.. The population stratified and randomly sampled to select 100
respondents. Questionnaires, interviews and content analysis were used for data collection.
Reliability was accepted at above 0.7. Validity was established through careful preparation
of items in instruments based on study objectives and by experts from the school of Human
Resource Development checking content validity. The data was analyzed and interpreted
using descriptive statistics and presented in pie charts and tables. Inferential statistics
involving one-way ANOVA, regression analysis and Chi Square test were used to establish
the significance and associations of the study variables. Findings shown that communication
policies have a direct and positive association on performance. It was recommended that
MMUST amend communication policies on a continuous basis as the need arises.
Effects Of Networking On Career Success by Hans-Georg Wolff & Klaus Moser of ...Oscar Trimboli
Effects Of Networking On Career Success by Hans-Georg Wolff & Klaus Moser of University of Erlangen-Nuremberg
Previous research has reported effects of networking, defined as building, maintaining, and using relationships, on career success. However, empirical studies have exclusively relied upon concurrent or retrospective designs that rest upon strong assumptions on the causal direction of this relation and also depict a static snapshot of the relation at a given point in time.
This study provides a dynamic
perspective of the effects of networking on career success and reports results of a longitudinal study.
Networking was assessed by six subscales that result from combining the facets of 1) internal vs. external networking and 2) building vs. maintaining vs. using contacts. Objective (salary) and subjective (career satisfaction) measures of career success were obtained for three consecutive years.
Multilevel analyses show that networking is related to concurrent salary and moreover, that it is
related to the growth rate of salary over time. Networking is also related to concurrent career
satisfaction. As satisfaction remained stable over time, no effects of networking on the growth of career satisfaction were found.

PORTFOLIO GUIDELINES
The following outline is intended to provide you with the guidelines for your internship. Although the focus of each student is primarily oriented to accomplishing the tasks and responsibilities assigned by each host organization, the following guidelines represent the writing and reporting requirements, which need to be submitted in the final week of the semester in order to receive a final grade for the experience.
The specific due date will be provided in Blackboard. Students are required to create a portfolio (word documents and/or excel spreadsheet). This submission will satisfy the “culminating experience” requirement by Liberty University in order to successfully complete graduate school.
INTERNSHIP FINAL REPORT:
This Report/Portfolio will be due during the final week of your internship and includes the following requirements for acceptance.
A. Length and Format: This report shall be as long or short as necessary to communicate the required information, Times or Times New Roman font size 12 pt. should be used. Feel free to include charts and supporting material that may be provided in an attached appendix.

C. Optional Revisions of Final Report: A student has the option of submitting the Final Report to the professor no later than Week 12. If an internship report is deemed unsatisfactory for any reason, it will be returned to the respective intern for revisions and modifications. Presentation and factualness of data, spelling, and grammar will be reviewed carefully and may result in required revisions. This report should be treated as a business report which will be evaluated and will be available for community review by faculty, staff, and students. If no revisions are necessary, the report will be accepted as final.
