The Healthcare Fraud Prevention Partnership, a collaboration between government agencies and private sector organizations, aims to save $1 billion by combating healthcare fraud through data sharing and joint efforts. So far over $260 million has been recovered or prevented from being paid out fraudulently. With early successes, the partnership believes the ambitious $1 billion goal by next year is achievable. Long term, as more data is shared and partners join, the potential savings could far surpass $1 billion each year given tens of billions are stolen annually through healthcare fraud in the U.S. The ultimate goal is to make fraud so risky that fraudsters will be deterred from even trying through effective collaborative countermeasures and advanced technology.
