GSM groups face many challenges in properly aligning their staffing with the roles and activities of the group. FUTURE_OF_HEALTHCARE
Technology is disrupting healthcare just as it has in so many other areas of life. New players and
new approaches are proliferating but while the changes may seem dazzlingly diverse there is a single, underlying driving force. Digital transformation in healthcare has many elements: health data privacy, ethical AI, IOT solutions, many brought to the market by new disruptors. These are all valuable elements of transformation, but ultimately they are steering to a single goal; empathetic care of
the empowered patient. In this increasingly patient-centric future it is the empathetic care, not the technology itself, that will prove to be the outstanding feature. The market leaders in this landscape will be those who embrace and explore its possibilities.
Living in a hyper-connected world, patients have never been so well informed or had so much decision- making power, at least when it comes to chronic diseases. Less dependent on their doctors for advice, increasingly able and willing to take greater control of their own health, they feel empowered by the vast amount of health information available online, on apps, and by the array of health and fitness wearables.
Such consumer digital empowerment is pushing rapid change in healthcare provision. Industry leaders across providers, insurers, medical technology and the pharmaceuticals industry, need to re-imagine
the traditional spectrum of sales, marketing and commercialisation processes by developing empathetic engagement tools to accompany and support the patient on their personal journey. This digital transformation imperative becomes a huge challenge because of the complexity of the industry ecosystem and the varying models in APAC.
With widely varying reimbursement and access challenges across APAC countries, coupled with diverse social and cultural norms, it is important for pharma, insurance, and healthcare providers to work together with partners who have local, real-world expertise when it comes to understanding patient behaviours. Together those partnerships can deliver solutions that will impact patient lives positively. Across APAC the opportunities are considerable with a huge growing market for medication and care, but there are also significant cultural and financial hurdles to the uptake of treatments.

Section 7.1The Current State of Affairs
Introduction
During the past century or so, medical care in the United States has shifted from individual
doctor–patient interactions, typically within an office setting, to interactions in health care
facilities that continue to grow larger and more complex. Modern American health care has
become more highly specialized, technology centered, and fragmented—a phenomenon that
has been anticipated since the mid-19th century. The English sociologist Herbert Spencer
(2004) observed that as society increases in complexity, so do its social institutions. The
bureaucratic explosion within health care, therefore, seems less a symptom of inefficiency
and institutionalized excess and more a part of the necessary, long-term development of spe-
cialized sectors within advanced industrialized society (Toulmin, 1990).
Today, early 20th-century forecasts seem to aptly describe the current state of affairs. Physi-
cians increasingly work in large, complex medical centers and practice settings and tend to
see their scope of professional discretion minimized and finitely defined. The fear of going
beyond those clear limits frequently causes physicians to practice medicine defensively,
sometimes forgoing the ends of patient care to do so. Practicing under such constraints has its

new era of medicine, care is more likely to involve patients being scuttled between sometimes
dozens of different caregivers, very few of whom will even remember the patient’s name or,
in some cases, even meet with the patient one on one. As a result, patients may become suspi-
cious of their caretakers, sometimes even assuming an adversarial stance where once there
would have been warm acceptance (Phillips & Benner, 1994).

As the cost of health care continues to rise in the United States, increased numbers of potential patients are flocking to other countries to receive affordable health care services. While medical tourism might affect the financial posterity of your health care organization, it too might be a reflection of an industry's commitment to fostering increased access to affordable health care services. From your perspective as a current or future health care administration leader, is medical tourism a social good?

As a healthcare administrator, I will have to consider the potential physical and mental risks first of medical tourism for consumers. I have looked for enough evidence-based research to help me to decide that this would be a choice that I would recommend. However, I did not find what I was looking for to say that I would without reservation and good judgment recommend a client to fly to India or Costa Rica for major surgery. I understand that the cost is so much less for various surgeries and companies and clients can save tons of money (ABC News (Producer), 2013).
I understand that this country’s expensive healthcare prices are driving patients and companies to participate in traveling outside of the country for medical procedures. “Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) put the price of a knee replacement in the U.S. at $48,000. Travel to India and the same operation will cost $8500, more than 80% cheaper. A heart bypass that costs $113,000 in the U.S. can be bought for just $3250 in Mexico, while operations in Malaysia are typically 65-80% cheaper” (Lunt, Smith, Exworthy, Green, Horsfall, & Mannion, 2011). So, I see that the cost of healthcare is causing many Americans to file bankruptcy and America pays too much for a healthcare system that is not working. Also, companies who are not at the Fortune 500 status would like to find a way to save money on employee benefits.
Therefore, I would say my thoughts on getting on board with this would be when another country has a life-saving procedure that cannot be performed in this country for various reasonings like a personal moral view of a political party in charge ...
