Why Accurate Financial Data is Critical for Successful Value TransformationHealth Catalyst
Approximately 50 percent of CMS payments are now tied to a value component. The CMS Innovation Center has allocated nearly $5.4 billion to implement 37 value-based payment models, with 55 percent of those funds marked for development and implementation of additional value-based models. The shift towards value and consumerism is pushing providers to adopt a novel financial mindset and strategy. The key component? Accurate financial data.
In this webinar Steve Vance, senior vice president and executive advisor at Health Catalyst, explores why accurate financial data, coupled with specific tools and strategies, is critical for successful transformation.
View this webinar for key insights into thriving in a value-based environment:
- Why it’s time to embrace new payment methodologies.
- What role financial and clinical data play in value- and risk-based contracts.
- Various organizational and operational strategies for successful financial transformation.
- How Health Catalyst solutions support an innovative data-driven financial process.
Network physicians, hospitals, and other care continuum providers work collaboratively in active clinical process improvement programs across service lines and specialties to define, establish, implement, monitor, evaluate and periodically update the processes of:
- Evidence-based medicine
- Beneficiary engagement
- Care coordination
- Conservation of healthcare resources
- Clinical data reporting
Health device makers, to date, have primarily targeted consumers who are either fitness focused or chronically ill. But between these two extremes sits a large, fragmented and often overlooked population who seek better information to effectively manage their health. Our research suggests that successful solution providers will approach this market opportunity as an ecosystem of partners – with an integrated solution that extends beyond the device itself. By plugging the information gap for these consumers, solution providers can help fuel healthcare innovation.

Persistent disruptive forces in life sciences now threaten traditional business models over the medium to long term. While high rates of return and strong performance may have masked these forces in the past, today they must be recognized and addressed. Organizations need new ways to continue to thrive despite such hurdles.

Healthcare Analytics: Right-Brain Advice in a Left-Brain WorldHealth Catalyst
U.S. healthcare is badly missing the soft, human side of healthcare analytics, especially as it impacts clinicians. How do we fix that? This webinar explores those ideas.
You won’t hear Dale talk about SQL, inner joins, outer joins, R, Python, logistic regression, random forest, or convolutional neural networks but instead, in this webinar he talks about the principles and philosophy of analytics.
For the most part, we’ve figured out the technology of analytics. That is all left-brain thinking—analytical, logical and methodical in nature—and it is literally getting easier every day with new data technology. But, in healthcare, we’re missing the right-brain thinking—creative and artistic in nature—that has almost nothing to do with technology but has everything to do with the human side of pursuing “data driven healthcare.”
Right-brain thinking is required for the oddities and shortcomings of healthcare data, and how to manage those shortcomings in the context of delivering data to the humans who we hope will consume it. The right-brain relates to the personality characteristics of the people who are leading your analytics strategy. It relates to the leadership culture of the organization and where that culture resides on a scale of transparency, internally and externally. The right-brain relates to behavioral economics, evolutionary psychology, human decision making theories, and the fundamental factors that motivate or demotivate human behavior. The right-brain relates to concepts like experimental design and PICO—patients, interventions, comparisons, and outcomes—that, if followed, can make your analytics more truthful and believable. It has to do with the way we negotiate and structure performance-based contracts that are loaded with quality metrics that either measure things that can’t be measured accurately or may measure the wrong thing, altogether.
You see, right-brained thinking in this left-brain world of analytics relates to a bunch of things, but mostly it relates to the Golden Rule of Data. Do unto others with data as you would have them do unto you.

The Biggest Healthcare Trends of 2019 and What's to Come in 2020Health Catalyst
In our Healthcare Outlook for 2019 webinar, Stephen Grossbart, PhD, and Bobbi Brown, MBA, shared their predictions for the biggest trends of the year. Which predictions panned out and which didn’t? View this webinar as Stephen takes a look back at 2019 and makes his forecast for 2020.
So, what did happen in 2019? Following the 2018 midterm elections, we predicted a divided Congress would not pass policies to strengthen or weaken the Affordable Care Act (ACA). We were right. Meanwhile, Democratic presidential candidates debated the extent to which they would support Medicare for All. Insurance costs continued to rise, breaking $20,000 annually for families with employer-sponsored coverage, and CMS continued to support payment policies rewarding quality and interoperability as part of their payment policy.
Join Stephen as he looks in the rearview mirror at these important issues and how they impacted the healthcare industry in 2019 and then gazes into the crystal ball to predict the trends that will most impact healthcare in 2020. In this webinar, Stephen discusses the following topics and more:
• The continued focus on price transparency.
• Congress’ efforts to control prescription drug costs.
• Policies that may change the future of ACOs.
• What to expect going into the 2020 election year.

The healthcare industry is undergoing significant change driven by six disruptive forces - rapid digitization, changing consumer expectations, regulatory complexities, increasing healthcare demand, shortage of skilled resources and elevating healthcare costs. To meet the implication of these forces, healthcare organizations must excel in engaging with consumers, discovering new ideas and taking effective decisions
Currently, traditional analytics capabilities are unable to exploit maximum value from the ever increasing data resource constraining organization’s achievements and performance. But cognitive computing has the ability to bridge this gap and can open up fresh opportunities for the healthcare industry. It is already helping healthcare organizations to provide personalized care, effective decisions and more innovative solutions.

Five years in, and the Affordable Care Act continues to command conversation in the benefits landscape. Industry players are still scrambling to implement new provisions, keep healthcare costs down, create infrastructure to support new reporting requirements, and develop new payer, provider and care delivery models.
This has, in turn pushed the respective hands of health plans, who have had to change their strategies to fit both the consumerization of insurance and the standards set forth under the ACA.
With end-users in the forefront, health plans must take the strategy implemented 15 years ago with the rise of the internet, and push the marketing and communication initiatives into overdrive to gain and retain customers.
Health plans are shifting their mentality and communication, ant the best of the best are putting time, money, and energy into literacy and new business initiatives.
To simplify, a health plan needs to put the consumer at the center of every decision it makes.
However, in order to plan, communicate, and effectively market to consumers, your health plan must know the consumer, the technology, and the future.
If you’re looking to grow your health plan, we have just released a new guide to help your health plan leverage trends in the post-reform consumer marketplace.
In our latest whitepaper, we share the keys to success for health plans, including the following:
Consumer Trends: Top 5 Healthcare Executive Consumer Strategy Points, Today’s Healthcare Consumers: Six Types of Consumers You Need to Know, Millennial Consumers Special Report

Caregiving Innovation Frontiers: A universal need, a growing opportunity — le...Longevity Network
Can 40 million caregivers count on you?
Where can I find reliable help with meals and medications? What does this bill mean, and will my insurance cover it? And how can I help Mom and Dad stay safe and healthy? As people live longer lives, questions like these touch us all. According to the 2015 report “Caregiving in the U.S.,” an AARP and National Alliance for Caregiving study, nearly 40 million Americans in 2014 were providing unpaid care to people who are older, disabled, or otherwise in need of assistance. A quarter were millennials and half were under the age of 50. Some call it “informal” care, but there’s nothing informal about the emotional, financial and day-to-day stress such a role can involve or the growing gap between the number of caregivers and the number of care recipients. By 2020, 117 million Americans are expected to need assistance of some kind, yet the overall number of caregivers is only expected to reach 45 million.
Technology is disrupting healthcare just as it has in so many other areas of life. New players and
new approaches are proliferating but while the changes may seem dazzlingly diverse there is a single, underlying driving force. Digital transformation in healthcare has many elements: health data privacy, ethical AI, IOT solutions, many brought to the market by new disruptors. These are all valuable elements of transformation, but ultimately they are steering to a single goal; empathetic care of
the empowered patient. In this increasingly patient-centric future it is the empathetic care, not the technology itself, that will prove to be the outstanding feature. The market leaders in this landscape will be those who embrace and explore its possibilities.
Living in a hyper-connected world, patients have never been so well informed or had so much decision- making power, at least when it comes to chronic diseases. Less dependent on their doctors for advice, increasingly able and willing to take greater control of their own health, they feel empowered by the vast amount of health information available online, on apps, and by the array of health and fitness wearables.
Such consumer digital empowerment is pushing rapid change in healthcare provision. Industry leaders across providers, insurers, medical technology and the pharmaceuticals industry, need to re-imagine
the traditional spectrum of sales, marketing and commercialisation processes by developing empathetic engagement tools to accompany and support the patient on their personal journey. This digital transformation imperative becomes a huge challenge because of the complexity of the industry ecosystem and the varying models in APAC.
With widely varying reimbursement and access challenges across APAC countries, coupled with diverse social and cultural norms, it is important for pharma, insurance, and healthcare providers to work together with partners who have local, real-world expertise when it comes to understanding patient behaviours. Together those partnerships can deliver solutions that will impact patient lives positively. Across APAC the opportunities are considerable with a huge growing market for medication and care, but there are also significant cultural and financial hurdles to the uptake of treatments.
There is increasing awareness that seniors represent a diverse group ranging in age, ability, and needs. As a result, senior care solutions are not “one size fits all” – an important lesson as innovators aim to scale solutions. Solutions geared towards seniors must be easy-to-use and solve a specific problem. This helps ensure technology actually improves quality of life and wellbeing, and does not become a nuisance. Ideally, developing senior care solutions should involve various stakeholders including clinicians, designers, and seniors themselves. Mass market products aimed at improving convenience and livability (e.g., Blue Apron, Amazon’s Alexa) have the opportunity to enable independent living. However, large companies need to better market their products to seniors and their caregivers. Venture capitalists are realizing that seniors represent a significant opportunity, but usually tend to invest in solutions that have a broader impact across any one single population or disease state (with some exception).
One of the key Industry is the Healthcare Industry which caters to almost ALL of the World population. Its an industry whose existence determines the very existence of human population. In this presentation, I tried to showcase the current marketing trends with facts and figures to showcase the marketing potential of this industry and its scope .

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

partners and investors abroad. We should portray the life science sector as resilient and adaptable, even in times of crisis. This document is a a messaging outline for Israel's Life Science Hub despite the war with Hamas. Four key points to emphasize:
1) Global activity (resilience and agility)
2) Continuity of care and preventive medicine

Urgent Request and Call for Action for Ensuring Safety and Inclusivity at MITLevi Shapiro
We, 465 MIT Alumni, Staff, and Students, are writing to express our deep concern, fear, and disappointment regarding the recent protest that took place Thursday afternoon, in front of the MIT Stratton Student Center. While we fully support the principles of free
speech and the right to peaceful assembly, it is essential that we also prioritize the safety and well-being of all members of the MIT
community.
During the protest, a particular slogan was prominently displayed and chanted, which has raised significant concerns. The slogan
"From the [Jordan] river to the [Mediterranean] sea, Palestine will be free!" has been a source of contention due to its potential
implications and the real safety risks it poses to Jewish and Israeli students on campus [See video footage attached]. This slogan
has been time and again associated with calls for the destruction of the State of Israel and has been used in contexts that
promote violence, which raises legitimate concerns about the safety and security of our Jewish and Israeli students and staff.
Furthermore, we would like to draw your attention to recent events that demonstrate the potential dangers associated with this
slogan. During the 2023 Israel-Hamas war, British Home Secretary Suella Braverman proposed criminalizing the use of the slogan
in certain contexts, recognizing the potential harm it can cause. Additionally, on October 11, ‘23, Vienna police banned a
demonstration, citing the inclusion of the phrase "from the river to the sea" in invitations, as it was seen as a portrayal of a violation
of Article 2 of the European Convention on Human Rights.
In addition to the use of these derogatory messages, several attendees of the event used hateful wordings and messages towards
Jewish and Israeli bystanders. In one case, a perpetrator aggressively held their bicycles as intended to harm a Jewish MIT student,
stating that “[your] ancestors did not die in the Holocaust so they could kill Palestinians” [See video footage attached]. In another
incident, protesters chanted “one solution, intifada revolution”. In the context of the on-going Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the word
"Intifada" means the armed and violent Palestinian insurrection targeting Israelis, including civilians, which resulted in the killing of
thousands of Israelis in the last few decades.
On Oct. 22nd, a statement by MIT CAA (Coalition Against Apartheid) came to our attention. In this document, MIT CCA states that
they "hold the Israeli regime responsible for all unfolding violence". They later call the October 7th terror attack a "response to
the settler colonial regime", and continue justifying it throughout the document.
In this matter, MIT CAA is justifying the heinous and barbaric crimes committed on Oct 7th. Furthermore, these statements have the
potential to fuel acts of aggression

Presenting to Investors and the Media, lecture by Drew Levinson, LifeSci Communications to mHealth Israel. Three sections: Making a good presentation, Handling
interviews with reporters and Answers that resonate. PRESENTING TO INVESTORS AND THE MEDIA- Compelling delivery, Commanding a room, • Lasting Impact. A good presentation includes Information, Motivation and Excitement. Never put them to sleep. Audience impact includes content, credibility and delivery. Decisions are made leading to potential partnerships, winning business, so much more than a deck, your business, your brand, you. How to captivate begins with storytelling and conversation. More than features- benefits, humanize, positive impact. Don't complicate your message with jargon. Feel the passion- contagious, vision, determination. Know your audience- who are they, what do they know about you, how much do they know, interests, concerns. Articulate your vision- see it, feel it, believe in it. Take them on your journey- compelling narrative, make it personal, why are you doing this, inspiration. Your team- experienced, knowledgeable, aligned, execute. Risks and challenges- recognize, address, plan to mitigate. Test drive your room. What does it look like? Where is the podium? Where will I be standing? Where will you be sitting? Feel comfortable. Three parts to attention. The beginning- attention, interest, what's in it for them, entusiasm, preview. The middle- core, insights, challenges, solutions, relatable. The ending- summary, reinforce, messages, benefits, call to action, keep the momentum going. How to answer questions. The Four R's: repeat, reinforce, refer, remember. Talking to reporters- necessity; Good interview can enhance reputation; Bad interview can tarnish reputation; Preparation is vital. Shapes public opinion: Elevates your brand; Establishes authority; Showcases your business; A bridge; Reputation; Trust; Visibility. Know the reporter. Audience; What have they written; Previous stories; Questions asked. Concise- clear, succinct, engaging. Make it relatable: Stories; Anecdotes; Experiences; Examples; Metaphors; Connect. Honesty and transparency. It is okay not to know every answer. You don’t have to answer every question. Control the narrative. What not to do when talking to reporters. Come up with another way to say no comment. What to wear- solid colors, blues and grays, nothing distracting. Expertise, passion, vision, lasting impression, connections. High stakes, high rewards. Preparation; Know your audience; Deliver with confidence; Enthusiasm; Authenticity. Begin the journey. Engage in dialogue; Build relationships; Inspire trust and confidence; Valued; Enlightened; Motivated and excited.

US Economic Outlook - Being Decided - M Capital Group August 2021.pdfpchutichetpong
The U.S. economy is continuing its impressive recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic and not slowing down despite re-occurring bumps. The U.S. savings rate reached its highest ever recorded level at 34% in April 2020 and Americans seem ready to spend. The sectors that had been hurt the most by the pandemic specifically reduced consumer spending, like retail, leisure, hospitality, and travel, are now experiencing massive growth in revenue and job openings.
Could this growth lead to a “Roaring Twenties”? As quickly as the U.S. economy contracted, experiencing a 9.1% drop in economic output relative to the business cycle in Q2 2020, the largest in recorded history, it has rebounded beyond expectations. This surprising growth seems to be fueled by the U.S. government’s aggressive fiscal and monetary policies, and an increase in consumer spending as mobility restrictions are lifted. Unemployment rates between June 2020 and June 2021 decreased by 5.2%, while the demand for labor is increasing, coupled with increasing wages to incentivize Americans to rejoin the labor force. Schools and businesses are expected to fully reopen soon. In parallel, vaccination rates across the country and the world continue to rise, with full vaccination rates of 50% and 14.8% respectively.
However, it is not completely smooth sailing from here. According to M Capital Group, the main risks that threaten the continued growth of the U.S. economy are inflation, unsettled trade relations, and another wave of Covid-19 mutations that could shut down the world again. Have we learned from the past year of COVID-19 and adapted our economy accordingly?
“In order for the U.S. economy to continue growing, whether there is another wave or not, the U.S. needs to focus on diversifying supply chains, supporting business investment, and maintaining consumer spending,” says Grace Feeley, a research analyst at M Capital Group.
While the economic indicators are positive, the risks are coming closer to manifesting and threatening such growth. The new variants spreading throughout the world, Delta, Lambda, and Gamma, are vaccine-resistant and muddy the predictions made about the economy and health of the country. These variants bring back the feeling of uncertainty that has wreaked havoc not only on the stock market but the mindset of people around the world. MCG provides unique insight on how to mitigate these risks to possibly ensure a bright economic future.
