Saint Patrick's Day is celebrated on March 17th in Ireland and the United States with parades and people dressing in green, the color of Ireland. Some dress as Leprechauns, mischievous fairies from Irish folklore that make shoes and hide pots of gold at the end of rainbows. Saint Patrick was an English priest who converted Ireland to Christianity in the 5th century, using the shamrock to represent the Holy Trinity. One legend says he drove all snakes from Ireland, though there is no evidence snakes were ever there.
