Founded upon our Delegation to UNFCCC COP13 United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in 2007, we are university students who wish to collectively help build a just and sustainable world. We are the organizers of the first Asian Youth Climate Summit in 2008 and were formerly known as the Hong Kong Climate Change Coalition, before we started establishing regional boards in Macau and other areas of China in September 2009. We are currently based at the University of Hong Kong. We are a party to the Youth Constituency officially recognized by the UNFCCC Secretary.

43. Enacting Change – “Change”? A: what are the solutions we are promoting for climate change? B: We need to change people’s mindset. A: what is mindset? B: A belief… A: It seems to belief is a set of value system. By telling me to change my mindset, you seem to assume that you have a better set of values than I have. How would you feel if I come to tell you that you need to change your mindset because I have better values than you? B: I will feel OK because I would only analyze what you say and learn from you. A: I disagree. I think people will not be willing to accept whatever you propose. If identity is a buddle of value we identify ourselves with, then I would more likely retract and defend my view because what you are proposing is a different view which is threatening my identity. In fact, as I was speaking of all these, this may be happening now. B: But I still see that I will not retract, rather, I will analyze it and try to accept your point of view and learn from that…. A: Are you feeling I am actually intentionally saying something to change what you think? B: No. I will use my rationality……

Act out with another personThis dialogue actually took place between Roger Burton, a professional “change agent”, executive coach, designer for our BP Antarctica ExpeditionAnd Adeel, one of our members when he few to HK and spent a day talking to us…
What we are doing, in essence, is no different from Hitler – to unify the world. It is just that we use different means and which impacts at a different scale (as it would seem) or that we are not aware that this is what we are trying to do.So then, how come we are called “a network for change”? Why the hell are we here? Now, I can only speak for myself…so I am going to present my point of view, and its assumptions.
Kubler Ross Grief Cyclehttp://hkccc.tumblr.com/post/183474064
Two types of platform we provide – physical and virtualThe reason why it is formally called national forum, which sounds grander than because we wish to emphasizethe importance of the process as a means to effect real changes. The chief innovation is that it is at all time open to ANYONE. So every-time you have a meeting, you need to publish it onto the tumblr, and those who wish to attend should not be barred, unless the agenda is very logistic : i.e. the price of the banner and the booking of rooms etc.Major National Forum will be annouced through emails, and put on googlecalender, facebook etc
Here, with the three types of forum, open forum includes ALL our internal meetings. Bohm Dialogue is a new innovation here. Which we will talk more about later when we actually do it.
The Network Design Skethbook is our “tumblrblog”, it is going to be the most important platform for discussions and dialogue after the “national forums”,The idea is that with our open-source online “blog” tightly linked to the website,to increase communication between “us” and the publicThe beauty lies in a mix of these five functions: 1- any of our volunteers or affiliated groups can gain access and publish events, and our team will automatically link it to all other blogs, Google calendar, twitter, face book, website etc. (depending on the scale and frequency) – chinese version blog (Sohu, Sina) and website- need your help!2- Our website serves for people to know about us quickly, so many details are not fully elaborated. As we are, by making changes, making new languages, it helps to use this blog as the “assistant” to give more elaboration on what me meant and intended through the uses of specific terms.Anything inspiring – tag InspiredOther tags:Climate ChanceNews VideoMusicResourcesPeople – feature our profile, (Partners, BOA, Alumni etc) Climate Change CommunicationProject-350 (or any project names: Project- Recycling)FormsIf add new tags, contact administrator, or the post will be automatically Re-tagged by administratorsCurrent administrator – none (temporary: Jessica and Serena)
The matching of people with idea or time of skill, so they can meet is not new. However, Anyone (members or not) who wish to carry out projects have full autonomy and decision-making power over the process while all the resources of network at service to assist the implementation. This is a very new concept, which takes a bit time to swallow. So I just wish to remind you that there is a “National Project” such as the 350 campaign where the funding goes to the National Board and all Regional Boards etc. all share it.
Standard 6– your story
There are two ways to get involved. One is to be a volunteer, to take up leadership roles, by either running the network or a specific project.Networkers are there to serve projectors, so small things can add up, aligned, forming a single force for bigger impacts, moreover, sustained beyond time or people- “carry lives of its own”Two types of members - General Membership - just sign up the form on the website to give permission of its name and support for our events, petitions etc. Honored - continuous participation or evidence name-card and T-shirt purchase – a bit more active…
Keeping in mind, the steering committee members are only members in charge, all the specific part are carried out by EVERYONE together.
Sports, fun etc. are LEGITIMATE excuses for not doing anything for the Network or Projects.
EffectiveHowever, once the person left, the whole network fell apartAll the passion, statement, resources created during the AYCS gone, as people all left…
Notice- there is virtually no structure now at project level. Very limited structure at the SC level – only 3 team
Open Source Administration
Huddle – how to label, invite people, organise file, annouceForum – how to create new postsDesign- How to tag
Google Template Group and Huddle will have the templatesName-Card/T-shirt Information – must fill in if you want them by the end of the week.
Event Annoucement to public is only editable by Networkers, projectors can contact the networkers for updatesProjecters, can however, go join our “website committee” so to be directly involved in editing website (which is also open-sourced and easily editable)Photography & Video – Projecters can use our accounts themselves…
