Dimitry is the Next generation information security professional with a
proven track record of creating elegant and effective security solutions and
designs. I have over 2 decades of experience communicating, developing,
and delivering elegant business driven solutions.
His unique selling point boils down to: a deep, thorough, and current
understanding of technology, combined with the ability to communicate in
simple non - technical terms with stakeholders. I link the technical world
with the boardroom, enabling the creation, implementation, and
transformation of business strategy and vision into operational excellence.
10. Talk Brief
This talk will briefly outline key non technical and organisation ‘gotcha’s’ to consider for Cloud
Transformation
The benefits cloud computing offers benefits such as agility, flexibility, redundancy and Capex to Opex financial
models are widely known and accepted
In order to maximise these benefits and leverage/properly manage the financial model, changes are required
across the organisation, particularly in larger organisations.
11. X Considerations Learned During Cloud
Transformations
q Clear and Decisive Leadership
q Clear message from the Leadership - this is the direction of
travel, and everyone must get onboard
q Changes/plans for changes must be made for the
organisational structure, (people and processes) as well as
the technology which the organisation wishes to migrate
into the cloud.
3 Key Factors Leadership/Management must plan for and
consider:
1. Impact of the changes to the political climate and
organisational structure;
2. Preparing for the necessary changes to the organisations
processes, culture and ways of working
3. Upskilling, training and employee communication
13. (Generally) people don’t like change!
In order to find the solution, lets think about HOW this manifests itself,
and WHY (within an organisational context) very briefly:
15. How to fix it
• Invest in and lay the groundwork/lines of communication
with staff at all levels in the organisation - this must be
thoroughly planned and invested in! Time and funding
must be allocated from the onset.
• Make the ‘uncomfortable’ decisions early: There will be
inevitable redundancies, or re allocations as a result of a
cloud migration, and it is best to get these out of the way
as soon as possible
• With the uncomfortable decisions out of the way, allay
peoples fears and put minds at rest as best, and as soon
as, possible.
16. Non technical Benefits of Cloud
Transformation and Conclusion
Non technical Benefits (examples of what I call positive unintended benefits) of Cloud
transformation.
