 What is climate change???
 Weather different from climate…..
 Green house gases :o
 Causing by human activities..
 CO2 effecting us
 Impacts
 How can we save our self's
 Any change in climate overtime whether due
to natural variability or as a result of human
activity.
 Climate change is caused by factors such
as biotic processes, variations in solar
radiation received by Earth, plate tectonics,
and volcanic eruptions.
Weather different from
climate…….
 Weather can change from hour-to-hour, day-to-day,
and season-to-season. It may rain for an hour and
then become sunny and clear. Weather is what we
hear about on the television news every night. It
includes wind, temperature, humidity, atmospheric
pressure, cloudiness, sunshine and precipitation.
 Climate is the average weather for a particular
region over a long time period. Climate describes the
total of all weather occurring over a long period of
years in a given place. This includes average
weather conditions, regular weather seasons (winter,
spring, summer, and fall), and special weather
events (like tornadoes and floods).
Green House Gases.. :o
Green house gases absorb and hold heat in the atmosphere:
 Carbon dioxide
 Methane
 Nitrous oxide
 Etc..,
Why is climate changing?
Human Activities:
 Burning of fossil fuels , such as coal , oil or gas
 The increasing demand on electricity.
 Clearing land , including loggings.
 The breakdown of food and plants wastes and sewerage
 Some aspects of farming , such as raising cattle and
sheep
Using fertilizers and growing some crops

Impacts: of burning fossil
fuels..
On Water resources:
 The melting of glaciers
can cause floods .
 Rivers will dry up,
causing drought .
 More intense rainfall on
a rainy day and dry days
in a year.
Impacts….
On sea level :
 There will be a rise in
sea level.
 People living on islands
will lose their homes .
 Whole ecosystem will
be wiped out.
Ocean acidification:
 Decrease in pH value
 Some animals will
extinct.
Acid Rain:
 when people burn fossil, sulphur is oxidized and turns
into sulphur dioxide gas (SO2)
 And cars exhaust gives off NO2 , making our rain
acidic.
Impacts…….
On Health :
 Poor health and death
 Polluted atmosphere- increased
respiratory illness
 CC causes over800,000 deaths .{WHO,
2012}
 150,000 deaths nearly per yr bcz of air
pollution.
Impacts……..
Global Warming:
 Increase in planet’s
average
temperature due to
green house gases.
 Extreme weather
pattern shift in all
regions of the world.
Impact…..
Risk of human
extinction:
 Natural food supply shortage.
 Polluted rivers ,lakes and
oceans with toxic material.
 Shortage of water supply .
 Polluted Air – High risk of
airborne disease.
How can we save our self's…..
Green house effect solution…
Green
house
effect
solution
Volcanic eruptions that release massive
amount of SO2 in atmosphere
Tree removes CO2
through
photosynthesis
Add iron to the
upper layer of the
oceans
Reduce , Reuse ,
Recycle all types of
items as much
possible
Preventions…..
 Limiting our electricity use at
home
 Use less hot water
 Turn off the lights, TV , heater ,
etc…, when not needed
 Use fuel efficient cars.
 Take public transport.
Methane
Conclusion…
You can help tackle climate change by:
 Reducing , reusing and recycling products that
u buy
 Walk or take public transport to limit car usage
 Insulate your home better so that you do not
need to use so much energy to heat it
 Tell your friends and family about climate
change and what they can do to help.
Although each action may be small , if many
people make small changes it will add up to
make a big difference.
