Human Powered Vehicle Project
This slideshow summarizes the author's work on a human-powered vehicle competition in 2010. The author collaborated with teammates to design, analyze, prototype, and plan production of a vehicle using Solidworks software. Media studies is an academic discipline that analyzes media content, history and effects. It draws on social sciences and humanities and overlaps with fields like mass communication. Researchers employ theories from disciplines including cultural studies, philosophy, psychology and sociology. New media studies is a recent field that explores computing, sciences, humanities and visual/performing arts. It examines ideas from theorists, programmers and technologists on media. A key thinker is Marshall McLuhan whose concept of "the medium is the message" influenced media theory. David Gauntlett proposed Media Studies 2.0 to recognize changing media landscapes and require new research methods as categories of audiences and producers blur.
