The Architecture Profession
Architects provide professional services throughout the architectural project delivery process. This includes pre-design (feasibility studies, project briefs), design (schematic design, design development), construction documentation, bidding and negotiation, construction administration, and post-construction (warranty reviews, evaluations). Architects work with owners, engineers, contractors and other professionals to design buildings and supervise their construction according to codes, contracts and the client's needs.

Acoustical considerations in designing musical auditoriums are complex with many interrelated factors. An ideal reverberation time (RT) must balance fullness of tone with loudness, definition, and diffusion. However, RT alone does not guarantee acoustic excellence - it is one contributing factor. Definition is satisfactory if the initial time delay gap is under 20 milliseconds, direct sound is loud relative to reverberant sound, and there is no echo. Providing adequate bass over large audiences is difficult since many instruments are weak in fundamentals.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in Education
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

- 4. Program Options • Certificate of Completion • Associate of Applied Science Degree Prepare yourself for a new career as a drafter/designer in Industrial and architectural companies. The Engineering Design Technology program covers mechanical and architectural drafting and design. The mechanical portion covers standards from the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), and the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). Students train in mechanical drafting, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, flat pattern development and pictorial drawings. The architectural portion covers floor plans, sections, and site plans for residential and commercial construction using American Institute of Architects (AIA) standards. By completing an additional 20 credits of General Education classes, you can earn your AAS degree. Program Length 4 quarters (1260 hours/77 credits) Monday–Friday, 8:00am–2:30pm “I’ve been hired as a CAD Tech even though I am not quite done with the program. What we are about: This program is designed to provide entry-level skills for students seeking employment in the drafting and Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) occupation as a Mechanical, Architectural CAD Technician. Throughout the year, students receive substantial training in the areas mentioned above. Other areas of training include applications of standards used in aircraft and aerospace manufacturing as well as ANSI, ISO, and ASME standards. Ample time is devoted to ―hands on‖ instruction throughout the program. Students learn to produce shop-ready drawings from models of tools and fixtures actually used in the industry. Renton Technical College is one of the selected few Autodesk Authorized Training Centers in the State of Washington and our curriculum is certified by the American Design Drafting Association (ADDA) Enrollment Entry point is Fall Quarter only, or with instructor permission.
