The document summarizes two case studies of community parks - the Malaysia-China Friendship Park in Kuching, Malaysia and the Tualatin Community Park in Oregon, USA. The Malaysia-China Friendship Park was built in 2005 to commemorate 30 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries. It is 2.8 hectares and contains both Chinese and local Malaysian architecture. The Tualatin Community Park originated from a grove of trees that was later expanded to 27.11 acres. It has facilities like sports fields, a skate park, and picnic shelters. Both parks provide spaces for activities like jogging, exercising, celebrations and allow interaction with natural landscapes.

The Church, as in the hundreds of millions of people who profess Christ, is probably the world’s most powerful “content distribution network”, but they are often held back by fear - sometimes legitimate fear of physical repercussions, but increasingly social fear of rejection.
How do we help digital natives (especially young people) feel comfortable sharing the gospel online?

• Tualatin’s first park was a grove of trees behind
Robinson’s store on Boones Ferry Road.
• It moved to a woodsy stretch under the Southern
Pacific Railroad trestle where 4th of July celebrations
were held.
• That park adjacent to the Tualatin’s River was
expanded with a gift from Harvey Van Raden in 1972
to become Tualatin Community Park.
33. C H A R A C T E R I S T I C S O F P A R K
• Size of Tualatin Community Park: 27.11 arce
• Has 3 sports fields
• A skate park
• Dog park
• Five picnic shelters
50. C O N C L U S I O N
• The main cause of this assignment was to identify the specific
characteristic that a community park has, be it in this case the
area and the fact that community parks are run by the
community and that they have a say in what goes on in
the park.
• The community can speak their minds to alter the park and
benefit the whole community.
• The park would feature community based attractions such
as sport facilities, toilets, relaxation areas such as pagodas, a
playground for kids, a fitness area and many many more.
51. R E F L E C T I O N
• We are lucky enough to live near parks, open spaces,
and greenways know the joys they bring: the calming
views of trees and green lawns, the singing of birds,
and also the fresh air.
• Building a basketball court is far cheaper than building
a shopping mall. Yet because we have not invested in
city parks, many children have nowhere to play
outdoors
