Donne e ICT: perché le ragazze non entrano nel mondo della
tecnologia?
Stereotipi e mancanza di modelli positivi scoraggiano l’ingresso
delle ragazze nel settore informatico

Una ricerca commissionata da Cisco a EUN Schoolnet cerca i
motivi della disparità di genere nel mondo ICT coinvolgendo
studenti, genitori ed insegnanti italiani e di altri quattro paesi
europei.

L’interesse per l’informatica e l’uso quotidiano del PC non bastano
se mancano modelli femminili a cui ispirarsi e persiste la
convinzione che l’ICT sia “un mondo da uomini”. L’atteggiamento
delle madri è essenziale per incoraggiare le figlie.

In Italia il 76% delle ragazze dichiara di essere “interessate o molto
      interessate all’ICT” ma il tasso di “drop out” (ovvero di ragazze che nonostante
      l’interesse per la materia si orientano verso diverse scelte universitarie e
      professionali) sale però al 61%. Solo il 15% delle ragazze dichiara di essere
      positivamente decisa a studiare e lavorare nel settore.

      Le ragazze coinvolte nella ricerca hanno dichiarato in oltre il 50% dei casi di
      avere un modello di riferimento a cui ispirarsi per le scelte di studio e carriera;
      di queste, il 58% ha indicato una donna.

      Il peso degli stereotipi è sempre forte: richiesti di valutare quattro tipici profili
      ICT, genitori e insegnanti di entrambi i sessi hanno valutato che fossero “più
      adatti agli uomini”: le madri hanno questa convinzione nel 40% dei casi.

Stereotipi e mancanza di modelli positivi scoraggiano l’ingresso delle ragazze nel settore informatico Una ricerca commissionata da Cisco a EUN Schoolnet cerca i motivi della disparità di genere nel mondo ICT coinvolgendo studenti, genitori ed insegnanti italiani e di altri quattro paesi europei. L’interesse per l’informatica e l’uso quotidiano del PC non bastano se mancano modelli femminili a cui ispirarsi e persiste la convinzione che l’ICT sia “un mondo da uomini”. In Italia il 76% delle ragazze dichiara di essere “interessate o molto interessate all’ICT” ma il tasso di “drop out” (ovvero di ragazze che nonostante l’interesse per la materia si orientano verso diverse scelte universitarie e professionali) sale però al 61%. Solo il 15% delle ragazze dichiara di essere positivamente decisa a studiare e lavorare nel settore. Le ragazze coinvolte nella ricerca hanno dichiarato in oltre il 50% dei casi di avere un modello di riferimento a cui ispirarsi per le scelte di studio e carriera; di queste, il 58% ha indicato una donna.
