3. Just the facts
Arkansas has the third highest adult obesity rate in the nation, according to The
State of Obesity: Better Policies for a Healthier America released August 2017.
The “Little Free Pantry in Sherwood, AR provides a place for people to donate
food to those in need in the area.
The photograph shows the amount of unhealthy food provided to low income
families who may not be able to afford healthier options, thus contributing to the
obesity epidemic in the community.
“People in America who live in the most poverty-dense counties are the most
prone to obesity.”(Levine,2011)
Food “deserts” are a major cause of poor nutrition in Arkansas.
4. Goal
To provide healthy food options in the Little Free Pantry's in Sherwood, AR to
promote healthier eating habits in low income families before school is out for
summer.
Desired Outcome: Increase the amount of healthy food options available in the
Little Free Pantry.

5. Objectives
Little Free Pantry will provide recipients with healthy affordable recipes to allow
for better nutritional status.
Little Free Pantry will provide educational pamphlets to improve nutritional intake
knowledge to those in need.
Little Free Pantry will encourage Donors to donate nutritionally sound food with a
nutritional guideline available in pantry.
6. Interventions
Encourage community to contribute healthy affordable recipes to be displayed at
Free Pantry by posting on Little Free Pantry Facebook page.
Create Educational pamphlet on nutritional intake to be place in free pantry
before school lets out for summer.
Develop nutritional guideline display for pantry door to encourage healthy
donations before school lets out for summer.
