Cigna offers several leadership development programs for students and early career professionals across various disciplines like actuarial science, finance, health services, marketing, operations, sales, technology, and underwriting. The programs provide rotational assignments, training, coaching, and exam support to develop technical and leadership skills over 3-9 years. Participants gain experience in diverse roles and business areas before moving into senior management positions.

3. 5-7 year program, with rotations every 18-24 months.
We look for undergraduate students who are finishing a degree
in the mathematics/statistical/financial fields.
The program financially
supports exam fees and
study materials for the
Society of Actuaries (SOA)
exams, as well as paid study
time, formal training
sessions on how to pass the
exams, and a large support

We look for CPAs or MBA students with 2-4 years of

We look for individuals with an MBA, MPH, or MHA along with 3-5
years of previous work experience.

HEALTH SERVICE | LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM
FOR GRADUATE STUDENTS
Rotations focus on four core
areas: Foundational Leadership,
Personal Leadership and Global
Mindset, Managing Others &
Strategy Development, and
Enhancing the Business.
You’ll have access to a two-tiered
mentor system: you’ll be paired
with an established & current
Health Leadership Program
associate as well as an executive
mentor.

MANAGED CARE | ROTATIONAL PROGRAM
FOR UNDERGRADUATE & GRADUATE STUDENTS
You’ll have the chance to
work on cross-functional
projects that support both
your local market & the
overall Seniors organization.
The Managed Care Rotational
Program allows you to rotate
through several departments, such
as business development,
contracting, network operations,
and more within our Cigna
HealthSpring program.
Mentorship is built through both
formal and informal channels, and
include alumni of the program
and market leadership. Your
mentors will help you achieve
rotation objectives, personal
growth, and your own career
goals.

OPERATIONS | LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM
FOR UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS
As an associate, you’ll have
the opportunity to be directly
involved with core operations,
oversee projects, and manage
teams that have a direct
impact on the health and well-
being of those we serve.
Training & development
opportunities include
management skills,
Strengths Finder, effective
communication, conflict
resolution, assessing
talent, data analysis, and
motivating others.
During training, you’ll travel
to multiple service sites

You’ll start with an intensive

UNDERWRITING | LEADERSHIP TRAINING AND RISK ASSESSMENT PROGRAM
FOR UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS
Chose from a variety of
different career paths: pursue
management, move across
business units to underwrite
new product lines, or transfer
into a new functional area
like Actuarial, Sales,
Marketing or Training.
Learn through a
combination of instructor-
led classroom training,
self-study, and on-the-job
experience for both Cigna
Group Insurance and
Cigna Healthcare.
You’ll help determine the
appropriate premium rate level
& plan design structure of
individual cases, analyze total
case profitability, and conduct
customer negotiations with
Sales and Account Management
on their book of business.
