2. Analyze Learner
General: 4th grade, 20 students (12 boys, 8 girls), 16 Caucasian, 4 African-American.
Learning Competencies: Students should know or have heard of an earthquake. Students should
also be familiar with plate tectonics.
Learning styles: Visual, auditory, and kinesthetic leaners.
3. Main Objectives
Students will describe what an earthquake is by what causes them, where they are located, the
affects, and the damage done. They will do this by using the internet, looking at facts, watching
YouTube videos, looking at and doing worksheets by the end of the week with 90% accuracy.
4. Day by Day
Day 1: Description. Students will study what earthquakes look like, how long they last and how they are measured. We will go over
letters A, I, J, N, P, R, and V. A YouTube video on Richter Scales will be shown to better understand how earthquakes are measured.
Day 2: Causes. Students will study how an earthquakes happens and why. We will go over letters C, E, S, and W. A YouTube video
about earthquakes will be shown to review what we went over yesterday and to get new information.
Day 3: Location. Students will study where earthquakes are most likely to happen and how often they occur there. We will go over
letters G, O, and T.
Day 4: Effects & Damage. Students will study the different types of damages that and earthquake can cause along with the effects
an earthquake can leave. We will go over letters B, D, F, K, M, U, X, and Z.
Day 5: What you can do. Students will learn what they can do if they are ever in an earthquake. We will go over letters H, L, Q, and
Y.
Day 6: Booklet. Students will put all their information the collect along with their ABC’s of earthquakes in a book they make from
construction paper.
Each day students will write down what they have learned about earthquakes on a worksheet that I will provide to go in a book they we
create later. They will also get different letters of the alphabet each day to get a better understanding these will also go into their book.
