Pastor Ronie Sandad and members from Sayaban Congregation gathered with the congregation from Antipas to celebrate Indigenous Peoples Day. The Obo Manobo Christians organized a gathering where they wore their tribal attire and spoke in their native Obo Manobo dialect. Activities included reading the Obo Manobo Bible, dancing, singing and a competition for best bamboo cooked rice and cassava. The successful event was encouraged to be held again next year in Kidapawan City Gymnasium and invite more Christian Indigenous Peoples for fellowship.

Month of October here in Philippines was declared as Indigenous Peoples Day. We take this
opportunity as Obo Manobo People of Mindanao to celebrate this day as Christian IP Gathering. Obo Manobo
pastors organized and facilitated this event. Churches of Christ in Kidapawan City and Antipas gathered last
October 17, 2015 at Ilomavis, Kidapawan City multi-purpose building. We invited key leaders of Obo Manobo
like Tribal Chieftain, Tribal council, IP Deputy Mayor of Kidapawan City. During this event we are required to
wear our tribal attire, and to speak Obo Manobo dialect. Activities were reading of Obo Manobo Bible,
interpretative dance, and Group singing. One of the highlights was a competition of best Bamboo Cooked Rice,
Cassava and Viand. Meals were served for our lunch and everybody were excited and happy. It was a
successful event and the Deputy Mayor encouraged us to do it again next year in Kidapawan City Gymnasium.
Next year we will invite all Christian IP’s to participate and have fellowship with them as IP Christians.
