The Children Movement for Peoples Awareness organized a street play to motivate residents of the EWS quarters in Bangalore about the importance of hygiene and education. Despite facing challenges from a non-cooperative welfare association, the kids performed their play and successfully spread their message. As a result, the residents expressed interest in learning English and opening a learning center to support the local children's education.

A group of students and teachers then visited the Ramnik Kuvarba Ashram old age home to donate the earnings and spend time with the residents. Granny from Comet conducted a workshop for school governing bodies to teach them how to work with creches and provide assistance. Thomas assisted Ukajede by fixing toilets at Ulana and welding battler doors at Jerusalem. Jerry renovated Tswelepelo creche after their building started leaking. East Rand Business Woman continues donating to Ukajede monthly. Nosihle secured sponsorship from Mr Price Group Limited, receiving R10,000 in vouchers to buy chairs, tables, toys and cutlery. The students of New Era Senior Secondary School in Vadodara, Gujarat identified issues in their community that they wanted to address, such as illiteracy, poor school conditions and undernourished children. They partnered with the Maharshi Arvind Municipal School to provide support. They collected donations and school supplies, taught origami, gifted footwear and speakers, and bonded with the children through activities. Both groups of students felt they had formed new friendships and the municipal school children want the New Era students to keep visiting. The New Era students plan future skill-building activities and fundraising to continue their support.

They conducted an awareness rally and door-to-door campaign to educate parents and residents about the negative effects of child labor. Their efforts were successful, as parents began enrolling their children in the school to provide them with an education instead of working. Initially one child started attending as a result of these awareness activities.

The students decided to spread awareness about education in the village since most villagers were uneducated themselves and unwilling to send their children to school. They identified families that did not send their kids to school through a door-to-door survey. The students then had one-on-one interactions with parents and held a rally to spread awareness about education in the village.

- 4. Problem The kids strongly felt about the hygiene and the lack of motivation for education in an area called the EWS quarters which houses some of their families and friends. The kids wanted to teach people living in the EWS quarters how important it was to keep their surroundings clean and how education was important.
- 5. Solution The kids decided to organise a street play and also decided to motivate the residents to look after their surroundings, support education.
- 6. Implementation • The kids came up with a play that focused both on hygiene and education. • Rehearsed during and after exams without any help. • The kids reached the venue where they faced more challenges including a non co-operative welfare association, that had promised to organise the whole event earlier. • The kids however moved on and walked up to each house in the area, talking to them and explaining their purpose.
- 7. • The kids managed to gather a large crowd and they eventually performed the play. • The message was sent across perfectly and the local kids later approached the group, seeking help and direction on information about good English education.
- 8. Result • Eventually, the kids got to perform a well-practiced play, the welfare association was inspired to take a more active role in the community and the residents expressed the desire to learn English. • What we did learn as a team at the end of the day was that when a motive is pure and is for the betterment of society, perseverance in the face of adversity always wins. • The icing on the cake however, was the interest expressed by the residents of the EWS quarters in the opening of a MAD centre that could cater to the needs of the children in that area.
