Child Marriage Essay
Writing an essay on the topic of child marriage can be a challenging task due to the sensitive
nature of the subject. Addressing such a profound and delicate issue requires a thoughtful and
nuanced approach. It involves delving into the historical, cultural, and social aspects surrounding
child marriage, while also discussing its impact on individuals and society.
Researching the prevalence of child marriage globally, understanding the legal implications, and
exploring the socio-economic factors contributing to its persistence are crucial components of
this essay. Moreover, the writer must navigate through the ethical considerations and shed light
on the consequences faced by the victims, considering both short-term and long-term effects.
Crafting a compelling argument against child marriage involves presenting well-researched
evidence, statistics, and real-life examples to illustrate the severity of the problem. Striking a
balance between raising awareness and proposing viable solutions adds an additional layer of
complexity to the essay.
Furthermore, maintaining a neutral and respectful tone is imperative to ensure that the essay does
not come across as judgmental or ethnocentric. The writer must be mindful of cultural
differences and be sensitive to the diverse perspectives surrounding the issue while still
advocating for positive change.
In conclusion, writing an essay on child marriage demands meticulous research, empathy, and a
skillful articulation of ideas. It is essential to approach the topic with a sense of responsibility,
aiming not only to inform but also to inspire change. The depth of analysis required to address
the multifaceted aspects of child marriage makes it a challenging yet crucial endeavor for any
writer.

Porter s Five Forces Model
ANSWER
Porter s five forces model describes 5 components. Buyer power, supplier power,
threat of substitute products or services, threat of new entrants and rivalry among
existing competitors. Using this scenario, I will explain every of these components.
Is clear that AT T is one of the few suppliers of telephony, given to them high supplier
power. This condition gives them the ability, among others, to charging higher prices,
limiting quality or services, and more importantly in this scenario, shifting cost to
industry participants, meaning that is more profitable for them bring the accounts in
house, and this is possible given the high supplier power. The buyer power, on the
other hand, is low, customers doesn t have the power to force company down prices.
In this case with AT T taking control of their selling could down prices for the
customers removing any chance of increment buyer power. The threat of substitute
products or services and the threat of new entrants in this case was managed by AT T,
first, eliminating three party contractors and given the possibility directly AT T to
know and lure customers in order to increase not only their competitive advantage,
but also, their competitive intelligence. Having direct communication with their
customers enables AT T to develop new strategies, products and services and avoid
new entrants in their business. Also given the rivalry among existing competitors in
this industry, AT T found the possibility to interact with

Friends; the people whom we know, trust, and love. Friendship is an important part
of all our lives, which is why I chose True Friendship is Unconditional Love as my
credo. True friends will always support you, have your back, and pick you up when
you are down. They are the people who, no matter the circumstances, will stay with
you until the very end. Another reason I decided on this credo is because of my friends
. They have always been there for me no matter what, through the ups and the downs,
the thick and the thin. Without my friends, I would not be the person I am today;
they have definitely changed me for the better. Since friendshipis such a valuable
aspect of life, it is also a commonly used theme in literature. Twelfth Night, a... Show

Helmut, a white man, insists on being friends with Mark, a black boy, despite the
severe apartheid in South Africa. They encounter many obstacles throughout their
friendship, including racist and threatening remarks that were directed towards
them. Mark explains, We . . . never play[ed] at the same [court] twice in a row.
(Mathabane 207) because Racist remarks were thrown at us, (207) proving that the
difference between Mark and Helmut s race resulted in their friendship being
criticized and judged. People did not believe it was possible for a white man and a
black boy to be friends. Furthermore, laws to reinforce apartheid were also in effect
at the time. These laws made Mark and Helmut s friendship a danger to themselves:
The more black people saw [Mark and Helmut] together, the more they . . . vowed to
deal with [Mark] the same way they dealt with other collaborators of the system:

Do Men With Excessive Alcohol Consumption And Social...
Many current studies are being done on the topic of addictive personalities. This
has been a debatable topic over the years. In this article, researchers are analyzing
the men who had consumed excessive amount of alcohol vs. those in a controlled
population. The main objective of this article, is to provide the statistical
information, as to rather or not men who consumes alcohol have different
personalities to those who are under a controlled population. Questions to be
determined are: Do men with excessive alcohol consumption and social stability
have an addictive personality versus those who are in a controlled set population?
Are there any hidden traits that could cause addictive personalities? Are there any
specific personality patterns in those who excessively drink? To evaluate both sets,
they were separated into groups or into multidimensional typologies. The males who
excessively drink (n=100) and those in a controlled population (n=131). The heavy
drinkers were then recruited by advertisement in a regional daily newspaper, while
the controlled group was based Swedish Twin Registry. These personalities were then
assessed by the Karolinska scales of personalities (KSP). Which were then compared
with the normative data. To investigate further, the researchers then used a
multivariate projection based approach to look for any hidden structures of traits and
any relationships within the groups of heavy drinkers vs. the controlled population to
see what would be

Stereotypes In Family Guy
When people think of domestic jobs they think of jobs that give low pay, are labor
intensive, have no benefits, require no degree work to carry out, and are worked by
minorities. While these perceptions for the most part are true; the negative stigma
attached to them is wrong as well as the assumption that only minorities are the ones
who work them. Another negative portrayal of Mexicans displayed by the media is
that Mexicans only work domestic jobs, but that is not the reality. In the show Family
Guywhere they too make fun of ethnic groups regarding their stereotypes they
portrays a Mexican woman named Consuela who is the housekeeper of the Griffins

The image of Consuela shown as the typical Mexican housemaid is one with many
negative repercussions. She is shown on many occasions portraying these stereotypes
in many other episodes as well. In an article called Mexican Immigrants in the United
States the Migration Policy Institute gathered information from the U.S. Census
Bureau to show the occupation of jobs that Mexicans have. For the most part
Mexicans do have a large portion of their population working in service occupations.
Aside from that Mexicans do work in jobs of management, and business which are
all jobs that take a higher level of education to obtain. Although the percentage of
Mexicans occupying these jobs is low the assumption and stereotyping of all
Mexicans assuming they work domestic jobs is something that should not be done
because it diminishes the accomplishments of the Mexicans who have obtained those
higher paying jobs through hard work. Instead of stereotyping Mexicans by this
misconception we should not be judgmental towards them, and be able to recognize
their accomplishments of being able to obtain higher paying jobs and breaking that
Bromoacetanilide Synthesis
a.Discussion of Yields crude, purified, % recovery chemical reasons Synthesis of
Stilbene dibromide The experiment yielded a mass of 0.32g of dibromostilbene
thus a difference of 0.6g from the theoretical resulting in an 85% yield. A result in
less than 100% yield may be due to the solvent used during the filtration process.
The solvent could have dissolved some product and thus resulted in the loss of
product during filtration. Synthesis of Bromoacetanilide In the synthesis of
bromoacetanilide, the crude yield was 0.69g and the purified yield was 0.53g (a
difference of 0.26g from the theoretical and resulting in a 67% yield). The recovery
of the pure product from the initial crystallization was 77%. The less than 100%
yield could have been a result of adding too much hot solvent. Adding too much
would result in a solution that is unsaturated and therefore when cooled, some of the
product remains dissolved in the solvent. This would cause fewer crystals to
recrystallize and decrease the yield. b.Discussion of Physical Properties evidence for
correct product Synthesis of Stilbene dibromide The measured melting point of
experimental dibromostilbene was 228.0 231.0В°C, a slightly depressed value from

The purpose of recrystallization is purification. Clearly stated by the results, the
method worked. After the second recrystallization, the difference in measured and
theoretical melting point decreased and the range also decreased (went from 3В°C to
2В°C). A narrow range indicates a more pure product. However, in both
recrystallization steps, the melting points were depressed and again, therefore,
indicative of impurities disrupting the crystal
The Main Causes Of The Missouri Compromise
Missouri Compromise 1820 Description As a result of Missouri s request to
become a state in the Union, there was much debate over whether the new state
would allow slavery or be a free state. In order to appease both sides, Missouri was
admitted as a slave state alongside Maine, which became a free state. Causes In the
nineteenth century, the United States saw an increase in immigration and
reproduction rates which evidently led to an expanding population; as the
population of an area grew, the area would become qualified to apply for statehood,
as seen by Missouri. The main cause for conflict, however, stems from the differing
cultures and economies of the North and the South, where the South needed slaves
but the North did not. Impact The Missouri Compromise helped alleviate tensions
between the two regions for a few decades, with the balance of states and the
imaginary line drawn. However, the Missouri Compromise led to increased
regionalism as the different areas began to see themselves as separate. Nullification
Crisis 1832 Description South Carolina, displeased with the recent developments on
tariffs, held a convention and declared the tariff void. In response, President Jackson
authorized force of arms, if necessary, in order to collect the tariffs. Causes One main
cause of the Nullification Crisis was the Tariffs of Abominations, passed to protect
the American industry after the War of 1812. Branching from that cause is
regionalism; the Southerners stated that

The Best Advice That I Ever Received From A Mentor Of
Mine...
The best advice that I ever received from a mentor of mine was that instead of
trying to be the best at something you should instead focus on being a well
rounded person. That is the way that I have tried to live my life and it has led me
to great success thus far. This is the primary reason why I support students taking
classes outside of their major. It leads to much more well rounded adults who are
knowledgeable in many different subject areas. Even though it may not be that
enjoyable, taking classes outside of your major introduces you to a wide range of
knowledge. Socially it helps you interact with a wide range of people in all kinds of
different social settings. You are able to speak intelligently to many different
people about a plethora of different subjects. Additionally, it is important to
consider that a majority of people choose a major based on what they are good at
and are interested in. For many people math classes are very challenging. If we left
those people to their own devices they would probably never take a math class
again. Now math is obviously a very important skill regardless of your future
career choice and it s a class that everyone should take. Even if it may not be that
enjoyable. The same goes for all subject matters. For me personally its history. I am
not a big fan of history classes. However I am glad to have taken all of the ones that
I have. They have taught me lots of important things about the world that I live in.
These classes have
The For-Profit Education Industry
For profit education As with any business industry, the education industry is one
big and diversified with multiple options ranging from publicly own Universities,
private nonprofit colleges to for profit schools. But today I am going to talk about
specifically about for profit educations. What is for profit education? What type of
product and service do they serve and served? Who are the biggest players and
how do they affect the industry and control over price? What are the methods used?
What are the barrier to entry and exit? And last profitability. A brief history of For

fathers. In fact, Benjamin Franklin was a big advocate of For profit schools.... Show

Regarding with any business, there are many barriers to entry to the For profit

and universities is Money. As reported by the Slate for profit colleges and university
need First, raise a lot of money. Without a pile of cash on hand, [if not] you won t
be able to pay faculty and staff, or buy land, buildings, and textbooks (Beam). The
second barrier faced by For profit industries is licensing and accreditation. According
to the same article on the slate ...Before a college can start accepting students, it
needs a degree granting license. Each state has its own process, but usually you
need to submit your university s curriculum to a committee for review . And get an
accreditation from both regional and national accreditation agencies. In the state
of Texas agency such as the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior
Colleges, Western Association of Schools and Colleges (ACCJC) or at the
national level you need an accreditation from Accrediting Commission of Career
Schools and Colleges (ACCSC). But at the basic level for profit industries need to

Taking a Look at Intrusion Detection
Intrusion Detection Intrusion detection is similar in concept to a burglar alarm on a
car. There is the lock system to prevent access to a car, similar to a firewall, and
there is the alarm system, the intrusion detection system. Intrusion Detection Systems
(IDS) are there to compliment the network or computers firewall, if or when there is
a breach, it is the IDS that is able to identify it and then alert the administrator.
Firewalls are an effective way for filtering information coming in to your network
from the internet and are a good source of protection, but there are ways to
circumvent a firewall which could leave you defenseless. An IDS monitors the
firewall for breaches and also monitors the traffic on the organizations network for
any anomalies. This is important in the instance of an external user connecting to an
organizations infrastructure by connecting through an installed modem on the
network, this form of attack cannot be caught by a firewall but an IDS is able to
recognize the abnormal activity and report the intrusion to an administrator. Intrusion
detection systems are there to help an information system prepare for and deal with
attacks. They collect information from a variety of system and network sources and
then analyze the information and activity logs searching for information on potential
security problems. Some of the main tasks of an IDS are to monitor and analyze the
user and system activity on a network, to audit the systems
Using Literary Devices In The Sixth Sense
After recently watching The Sixth Sense I realized that there is a great use of
devices in the film. The Sixth Sense is about a child psychologist Dr. Malcolm,
who tries to help a child defeat his dark secret. I think this movie is a prime example
of using literary devices such as, foreshadowing and symbolism within the script. I
really enjoyed this filmfor these reasons and would recommend it everyone. There
are many instances in which these devices are used in the film, some are much more
noticeable than the others. This movie has a really high replay value because, you
always notice something new in regards to symbolism. Also the other view points
that you can see the story after knowing what happens in the dramatic ending. The
many uses... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The biggest aspect of foreshadowing used in this movie is the fact that Malcolm
only interacts with Cole during the entire movie after his death. This is something
that is hard to notice on the first time you watch this film. This aspect gives the
film high replay value. When Malcolm is sitting in the living room with Cole s
mother the viewer assumes that they are both talking when Cole arrives home
from school, when in reality she doesn t even notice Malcolm. When Malcolm
attends Cole s plays at his school no one asks him why he s there or anything at all.
My favorite example of this is, there are other parents recording the play and are
sitting directly behind Malcolm. If they were able to see him, Malcolm would be in
the way of the shot. The other parents see right through him because he is dead, I
think that this is brilliant foreshadowing for the twist at the end of the film. The
temperature change is one of the more obvious uses of foreshadowing in the movie.
The temperature dropped in the film when a ghost was upset. A the start of one of
the scenes, there is a close up on the thermostat changing to cold by itself. This is
foreshadowing on the upset ghosts that are about to visit
Examples Of Characters In Percival Everett s Short Story...
Percival Everett s collection of short stories Half an Inch of Water has many
examples of characters create distractions to avoid dealing with the obstacles they
are going through. He depicts a father daughter relationship that s on the rocks, a
woman who goes forth and tries out a new hobby to distract herself from her marriage
that is coming to an end, and a man who is avoiding an inevitable outcome to a
troublesome situation.
The character Sarah Daniels in Percival Everett s short story Wrong Lead has clouded
her mind with her obsession with horses instead of focusing on her marriage with
her husband Clark which is falling apart. she spends all of her time with that damn

It s not until they experience a trauma together that their relationship begins to
mend itself. When Benjamin finally musters the courage to force his daughter to
do something even though he is still reluctant he notices that she is willing to put
forth a bit of effort and participation. Emma s attitude is clearly fueled by her anger
towards her father and how he treated her mother who is no longer in the picture.
Benjamin even admits that he didn t treat her well and that he could have done
better. There is a legitimate fault on both sides. Benjamin s behavior towards his ex
wife and Emma s moody teenager phase. In the short story Graham Greene, the
main character Jack Keene goes on a quest to find the son of a one hundred and two
year old woman. While Jack knows deep down that the likelihood of him find
Roberta s son Davy was not very good, he continued his search. Not much is
mentioned about Jacks personal life or what he has experienced in his past. I had
done some work on the reservation nearly ten years earlier, helping to engineer an
irrigation ditch that brought water from a dammed high creek down to the pasture of
Arapaho ranch (Everett 147) Jack has a formal connection to the Arapaho ranch and

Dr Strangelove Essay
Stanley Kubrick s sexual parody, Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop
Worrying and Love the Bomb, illustrates an unfathomed nuclear catastrophe.
Released in the midst of the Cold War, this 1964 film satirizes the heightened
tensions between America and Russia. Many sexual insinuations are implemented to
ridicule the serious issue of a global nuclear holocaust, in an effort to countervail the
terror that plagued America at that time. Organizing principles, such as Kubrick s
blunt political attitudes about the absurdity of war and the satirical genre, are echoed
by the film style of his anti war black comedy, Dr. Strangelove. The black comedy
follows the story of a paranoid U.S. Air Force Commander, General Ripper, who

From the beginning, the viewer is informed that the bombers have two hours before
they attack, and the almost continuous temporal relation between plot time and real
time evokes suspense. For instance, in the War Room , the large map of Russia that
displays the progress of the planes towards their targets coincides with actual screen
time, creating increased anticipation and consternation.
The majority of the film s sound is derived exclusively from diegetic speech and
sound effects that bolster its overall realism. However, the first instance of
nondiegetic sound occurs in the opening credits when a male narrator provides
rudimentary background information on the Doomsday Device . This voice over
narration stimulates the suspense of the narrative while providing the spectator with
unrestricted information by revealing more insight than the characters know at this
point. The ensuing credits sequence incorporates the song Try a Little Tenderness
which communicates the idea that men should be tender with their women. The
romantic song is cunningly integrated with the image of two B 52 bombers
connecting, as one refuels the other. The sequence is suggestive of romance and the
physical act of love. Following Dr. Strangelove s infamous speech at the conclusion
of the film, a montage of nuclear bombs detonating is shown with Vera Lynn s
The Sociological and Political Subtleties of Woodstock Essay
The Sociological and Political Subtleties of Woodstock
The Woodstock festival descended on Bethel, New York promising three days of
peace and music. Event organizers anticipated 15,000 people would attend but were
overwhelmed by the 300,000 people that flooded this rural area of New York state
from August 15 17, 1969. While these facts are well known and indisputable, the
festival itself has proven to be a controversial endeavor. What began as a small
business venture was soon brimming with the controversy of an entire decade. It
becomes clear when examining the strikingly different accounts of the festival that
reactions varied depending on the fundamental values and personal circumstances
specific to each observer and to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This approach gives the book a distinct atmosphere as it reads like one giant
conversation, allowing the reader to appreciate Woodstock as the undertaking of
many.[3] An examination of Joel Makower s other work reveals his qualifications to
describe Woodstock s status as a business venture. He has authored or co authored at
least twenty books, many of which involve business and investing. His other works
include studies of the media and an American history sourcebook.[4]
While Makower s description of the production of Woodstock outlines an
outwardly gradual process of preparation and decisions, newspapers of the era
provide the initial shock and public reaction of the festival. Outrage felt by local
citizens of Bethel is displayed in an article written by Alfonso A. Narvaez and
printed in The New York Times on August 20, 1969. The article conveys the
frustration felt by local residents as an influx of thousands caused massive traffic
jams, widespread property damage, and a shortage of basic necessities and sanitary
facilities. Many local businesses were ill prepared to provide needed goods and
services to such an enormous group of people. The Bethel post office was closed
while dairy farmers were forced to dump fresh milk because neither mail trucks nor

Pacman Research Paper
Pacman is a game in which you are a yellow circle character called Pacman, you are
trying to eat all of the little white dots to add to your score as well as eating any
other bonus to increase your score. However, there are a number of ghosts which
are trying to stop you, if you run into them you die and lose a life, once you are out
of lives you lose and will have to start from the beginning. There are also big dots
which will give you a temporary power up when you consume them, this power up
makes the ghosts scared of you and try to run away, during this time you are also
able to eat them to get even more score. Once you have eaten all of the dots you
clear the level and have won the game. This game is an arcade gameand so has bright

His kind hearted character displays romance and charm throughout. One thing to

The Importance Of College Connections In College
It s a known fact that college is vastly different from high school, and in a general
sense, that s very true. College is full of new challenges and opportunities to prepare
for the future. Along with harder classes and independance, college is also about
socializing with fellow students in an environment in which everyone is always on
the move. Having connections can lead to future success within an industry as well
as people to communicate with and work with while in college. In high school, it is
easy to make connections with people because of the way classschedules work: four
classes a day, five days a week. Compared to high school schedules, College
schedules are free form, with class number and class type varying by the day, and,
as such, it s more difficult to connect with other students. The easiest way to create
meaningful connections with other students is by joining a school club. Co
curricular organizations are usually more constructive than extracurricular, as co
curricular relate to a selected major while extracurricular relate to hobbies. Ideally,
it s best to try and find a balance between co curricular and extracurricular clubs. For
example, three clubs I, someone dual majoring in computer science and music
composition, hope to become involved with during my college career are the game
development club, the art club, and Code.life. The game development club is a co
curricular club that doubles as an extracurricular club in my case. By joining this
club, I

They are essential to wetland communities since they provide food and habitat for
the wildlife and regulate the water chemistry. Given the importance of their impact
on the environment, it is essential that they be monitored and managed. Also along
with the good they do, Macrophytes can also hinder human activity by clogging
reservoirs, reducing water availability, and obstructing boat propellers, reducing
access to the shoreline. Monitoring and managing aquatic macrophytes can be a

earlier paper Haidt and Graham(2007) found that for extreme liberals, Harm / Care

extremely conservative find that they value all five more equally when making moral
choice. This correlates almost perfectly with the earlier paper from Graham, Haidt

Graham(2007) go on to say that the recognition of the final three moral

allowing more fair and even discussions between the two political standpoints.
Furthering on this Tyran (2004) found that when a person is presented with a voting

would be morally right, specifically relevant to the Harm / Care and Fairness

demonstrates that the connection between moral
Female Characters In The Hebrew Bible And Medea
In the Hebrew Bible, the Book of Genesis and the Greek play Medea, by Euripides,
contain female characters that can be seen as complex and have significance and
meaning in the text. There are many interpretations involving the female characters,
some characters may be portrayed as weak and irrational or strong willed and wise. I
will argue that, women are portrayed in the Hebrew Bibleand Medea as irrational and
senseless, in order for the men to be portrayed as superior and for women to be
seen as inferior. This idea of the female characters being irrational and senseless can
be seen in Genesis 4, Genesis 18, Genesis 29, and throughout the Medea play. In the
Hebrew Bible, a significant section where this idea can be seen is in the beginning
with the story of Adam and Eve, specifically in Genesis 4. When Eve is manipulated
to eat the forbidden fruit, it poses the idea that the suffering of humankind was caused
by a woman, showing the idea that woman react without consideration or
senselessly, when really Eve was only acting on a very human trait, curiosity.
When Eve convinces Adam to eat the forbidden fruit, one of gods punishment to
Eve is Your man shall be your longing, and rule over you (p.97). Or when God
describes Eve as his woman , God is essentially saying she is not her own
independent person and is meant to be owned by men. This passage alone shows that
women are viewed as people that were meant to be controlled; that men were always
meant to be above them.
The Pros And Cons Of Mind Wandering
Mind wandering is the situation in which a person s attention and thoughts wander
from a current task to some other inappropriate line of thought (Radvansky, Ashcraft
2014). This is a very common experience, and for most it is also an issue at times.
Everyone wants to be able to concentrate and not have other thoughts in their mind
when needed such as in school, work etc... Daydreaming, thinking about what you
will eat, about your family, or when you read something and have no idea what you
just read, are all examples of mind wandering (Radvansky, Ashcraft 2014). There have
been claims stating that mind wandering is lower for low working memory capacity
(WMC) subjects (Radvansky, Ashcraft 2014). Researchers have examined this and
many other factors contributing to the mind wandering phenomenon. Many
conclusions have been made upon different components of mind wandering, thus we
will explore various research studies that provide recent discoveries in mind
wandering.
Introduction
Our minds do not wander randomly to what doesn t worry us, it wanders due to
having numerous concerns, which in turn forces our minds to think about them in
any instant (Radvansky, Ashcraft 2014). When we mind wander, we take all the
attention from the atmosphere we are in and emphasis entirely in our own inner
thoughts. Often, we are not aware that we are day dreaming until we catch ourselves
(Radvansky, Ashcraft 2014). Mind wandering is a very interesting and vast topic that
we have discussed in

Freedom Of The Press, Freedom, And Freedom For
Democracy
Freedom of the press is considered to be the most important component to a strong,
fair, and healthy democracy. This ideal is so valued that it is within the first
amendment of the Constitution of the United States Bill of Rights. Today still, a
free press is often used as a measurement of the freedom and democratic strength of
a state, and is considered to be a guardian of the people against democratic erosion or
executive aggrandizement. Freedom of the press, however, is not unproblematic. It
can seem at many times that state intervention within or restriction of the press, can
solve some of the issues of a free press, but neither state control, nor an entirely
unconstrained press is perfect for democracy, or protection against the erosion of
democracy. While a free press does not guarantee the survival of a democracy, and
the degree of freedom may need to be slightly limited, it is without question, that a
freer press is more likely to ensure the survival of democracy, than a press that is
controlled, or one that is experiences extreme constraints from the government.
A large threat to democracy is a press whose freedom is completely limited by the
government. According to a Washington Post Piece written by Daniel Hill and
Yonatan Lupu, governmental restriction of the press is correlated to weakened
democratic institutions, an increase in human rights violations, and less political
competition (washingtonpost.com). State restrictions of the press have been used
within
Leaf By Niggle Summary
Mankind has always been fascinated by the afterlife. In light of this fascination, it
is no surprise that two Christian authors, both known for their fantasy literature,
wrote imaginative accounts of the metaphysical: Leaf by Niggle , by J.R.R.
Tolkien and The Great Divorce, written by C.S. Lewis. Although the works are
similar in their vivid imagery and creative imaginings, they are markedly different
in style and in the characters they use to develop their story. Both authors create two
distinct worlds that are somewhere between Heaven and Hell and both offer
beautifully descriptive accounts of these worlds. However, Tolkien s style is quiet
and meditative while Lewis writes with clarity and boldness. Tolkien limits his
examination to two main characters while Lewis studies many characters. In both

Tolkien s style is quiet and requires deliberation while Lewis pens his story with
obvious clarity. For example, it is never directly stated that Niggle has died. There
are hints that enable the reader to deduce what has happened, for example, a
Driver arrives to take Niggle away from his home and he questions what the Driver
is there for, The carriage was ordered long ago. It has come at last. . . You ll have to
go; but it s a bad way to start on your journey, leaving your jobs undone ( Leaf 107).
One is left to guess that death has come at last and poor Niggle is not ready. Lewis,
on the other hand clearly conveys that the Ghosts and Solid Ones have died. When
one of the ghosts is too ashamed to reveal herself, she exclaims, I d rather die
(Great, 60), and the Solid One responds, But you ve died already. There s no good
trying to go back to that (Great, 61). Lewis, unlike Tolkien, boldly pronounces his
characters unhappy state time and time

Becoming An Organ Donor
In the United States, and even many other countries organ donation is an important
and live saving thing. Many people are willing to donate organs when they are
deceased, but much work is needed in order to state that. To become an organ
donor, this needs to be specifically stated and known. In many cases people are
willing to donate their organs after they are deceased, because they know that 18
people die every day due to the shortage of organdonation. The problem is that
people do not know what is needed to be done to become and organ donor, or also
they don t want to go through all of the steps in order to become an organ donor

Organs that can be donated include the heart, lungs, liver, pancreas, kidneys, and
small intestines. Organs are used to save lives by replacing diseased organs with
healthy ones. One organ donor can save the lives of up to eight people. When
someone is able to donate organs and a person who needs the organ receives it,
many new doors for that person are open. Critically ill children who undergo organ
transplants today are more likely than ever to recover and return to their schools,
playgrounds and a quality of life that in many cases is virtually indistinguishable
from that of friends who have never faced a life threatening disease. Cory Scott is
living proof. The 15 year old returned to his Jacksonburg, W.Va., home less than

Ethiopian and Soviet Immigration and Their Impacts on Israeli Society
Israel is a state complete with a multitude of ethnicities. As Jews began to immigrate
to the newly formed state, they brought with them distinctive cultural values and
traditions that shifted Israel from a more homogenized community into a definite
melting pot . Significant waves of Jews came from Europe, the Middle East, Asia,
Africa and even North America. The impact each of these groups had on Israeli
society differed from group to group. Two of the most recent waves of immigrants to
Israel came from Ethiopia and the former Soviet Union. Both groups changed the
dynamic of Israeli society in ways previous groups had not.
In Israel today there are 125,500 Ethiopian Jews. This constitutes 1.75% of the total
population and makes Israel home to the largest Ethiopian Jewish community. This
group lived predominantly in the North and Northwestern parts of Ethiopia and can
trace its origins back to biblical times, when many Jews migrated to Ethiopia
following the exile of Jews in Egypt. According to tradition, in the 4th century CE
this group was pressured to convert to Christianity and refused. They became known
by the term Beta Israel , meaning house of Israel .
In modern times, they have lived among Christian and Muslim communities in
Ethiopia. In the 20th century, Beta Israel renewed contracts with other Jewish
communities. Because of the instability and violence that
The Role Of Political System On Administrative Law And...
St. Louis University v Masonic Temple is a classic example that highlights the role of
political system in administrative law and judicial decision making. One cannot
ignore or underestimate the role politics can play in decision making. The financial
routes through which funding programs operate have an underlying political will and
motivations and courts give effect to it through favorable decisions. In this case, the
city had passed an ordinance to establish the necessary Tax Increment Financing or
TIF assistance for the arena and other redevelopment projects. The ordinance
expressly stated that the lawmakers believed that St. Louis University (SLU)
continues to serve as invaluable educational and cultural entities within the area
raising the question of political backing in awarding the TIF only to St. Louis
University. If the court ruled against not only St. Louis University but the St. Louis
politicians (who expressed an explicit interest in awarding the TIF to SLU), there
would have been a major political fallout. Interestingly, courts in such cases tweak
and interpret the law to appease both the political entities and the public even in the
face of blatant violation of the law. It is pertinent to understand the reasoning behind
why courts on multiple occasions decide in favor of churches/religious institutions
despite blatant violation of law. Administrators and law makers respond not only to
what the law demands but to other environmental demands that exert

Correlation Between Customer Satisfaction And The Total...
Correlation and regression analysis allows us to determine the strength of a linear
relationship, the direction of a linear movement, and if a relationship exists between
two variables (Donnelly, 2013). In this scenario, a student intern noticed a possible
correlation between the customer s satisfaction and the total amount of the bill. The
intern decided to collect 100 customer satisfaction surveys and match each of them
with the corresponding total bill. The intern wants to use the collected data to
develop a hypothesis, conduct a test for correlation, and develop a prediction
equation for customer satisfaction. I will assist the student intern by developing an
appropriate hypothesis for the data collected, conducting a test for correlation,
developing a prediction equation for customer satisfaction, and analyzing the results
to better inform the owners. Correlation and regression analysis will tell us if a
relationship exists between customer satisfaction and the total amount of the bill and
it will tell us the strength of the relationship. Currently we are unsure if there is a
relationship between the two variables, so we need to develop a hypothesis and
determine the correlation coefficient. Since we are only looking to see if there is a
relationship between the two variables, we will create a hypothesis that answers this
question. The null hypothesiswill be that the population correlation coefficient equals
0 and the alternative hypothesis will be that the

Pharaoh and Lafeyette Rivers growing in the late 1980 s in Henry Horner, a housing

violence, death of close friends, their brother in jail and their dad struggling with a

Rivers family is constantly ducking from shots of gunfire there. They live in an

According to this theory, external forces can influence the development of emotions.
A child can mature a lot quicker when they are placed in an environment where they
have to take care of themselves to survive. When tragedy struck, Pharaoh didn t want
to know. He continued to tell his mother he was too young to comprehend it all, as if
he were trying to prolong his childhood (Kotlowitz 216). Both boys did recognized
at an early age that death occurs frequently in their neighborhood. They had several
friends die and they were reminded of this every time gunfire went off outside the
apartment. Pharaoh tried to maintain his childhood the best he could and excelled in
school as a coping mechanism. Lafeyette, at thirteen, acted as a parent to fill his
mother s role when she was out.
The government makes one of the biggest contributions to the welfare of the family
by providing financial safety. The problem is that the government fails to show any
concern for these families unless it is brought to their attention, and even then
nothing is changed. The lack of interest by the housing authorities leads to the
neglect of Horner for over fifteen years. The rotting carcasses explained the putrid

they re not hurt, whereas soccer players spend 90 minutes pretending they are hurt
in an attempt to draw fouls. In Rugby a small 5 6 player is just as important as a 6
5 gargantuan. People may have heard of Rugby before or even witnessed a game,
but do they really know what it is and how it s played? My interest for this topic
came to me during my first semester at the University of Kansas, when I realized a
club team on the rise. A few of my pledge bothers recently got involved in the rugby
club and have started appreciating the sport. Rugby is a sport that consists of a team
with a mission to score more points than the other, with a similar footballfeel. My
process is to analyze the game of rugby at the University of Kansas and develop a
greater understanding of rugby, how it s organized, and how it s played. Before
starting my investigative process, I first wanted to look at the historical content of
the sport. It is believed that rugby was born in 1823 when William Webb Elliswith
fine disregard for the rules of football (note that football was yet split into various
codes) as played in his time at Rugby school, first took the ball in his arm and ran
with it, thus originating the distinctive feature of the Rugby game ( Rugby Football
History n.p.). Although Ellis s story is just a belief, the majority of the population
agrees on the view. Webb Ellis is still remembered as the
The Earth And The Stars
Throughout the history of the human species people have looked up at the stars and
wondered. Each individual culture, past and present, has stories and myths
concerning the various features of the night sky and the constantly moving celestial
objects which reside there. There are creation stories which try to explain where the
Earthand the numerous stars came from. There are other stories whcih take on a less
grand task and only try to explain a single celestial object. Some believe that the stars
and the Earth are intertwined and the motions or strange appearances of objects
directly relate to what is happening on the Earth.
There are also beliefs that the stars and night sky are the Heavens viewable from
Earth, where everything must be perfect. If things were not perfect in the
Heavens, such as a new star appearing in the sky due to a supernova occurring light
years away, some cultures would take this as a bad omen. In ancient China for
example, the Emperor was responsible for what happened on Earth as well as what
happened in the Heavens, so if a new star appeared unannounced then a competing
group vying for control could use that change to try to alter the existing balance of
power. In other places such as medieval Europe even suggesting the Heavens were
not perfect could land someone under arrested from, at the time, all powerful Catholic
Church. Such was the case with Galileo after his public support of the idea that the
Earth moved around the Sun and not the other
Advance Fuel Corporation Case
Advanced Fuels Corporations
Financial Analysis and Forecasting

Introduction:
Advanced Fuels Corporation (AFC) was founded five years ago by Dr. Zachary
Aplin. In the fourth year of research he and his two member staff made a major
break through that can convert grain waste products into ethanol which can mix with
gasoline to produce a better burning automobile fuel. Producing ethanol from waste
products would lower its cost dramatically so the market potential of the blended
fuel would be increased. After AFC receiving a patent for Dr. Aplin s unique ethanol
production process he decided to broaden the scope of operations of the company but
he doesn t have additional funds to put in. So, he developed ... Show more content on

In AFC s business plan, it stated the company is building production facilities in
five major cities in U.S. and also the patent of unique ethanol production process
can be collateral too. In AFC s condition they need to get the operation started so a
bridging loan (short term) is most suitable for them until they find a permanent
investor to provide the additional funds needed and it carries relatively lower risk for
our bank as well.
We would prepare a few things before meeting with Dr. Aplin and his consultant.
First, study the business plan of AFC carefully to see if the proposal is feasible and
reliable. Look at all the components with the current and future economic condition,
trend of the industry and related news to see if everything is reasonable. When
everything looks good from the surface, the next step is to conduct a detail research
on Dr. Aplin and his company and the industry. Dr. Aplin s personal information such
as reputation, education and achievements can tell us the ability of him to support his
new firm and to conduct the business. Studying about his company s details like
financial statements and how the operation goes can get us close to the most
important part compare the firm with some established companies within its area of
industry. From that we can estimate the risk of the business, the return, cash flow,
payback period, competitiveness
Analysis Of Claude Debussy s Musical Time Periods
Claude Debussy once said, works of art make rules; rules do not make works of art.
No musical time period has seen, nor continues to see, so much change and
innovation than the Modern period. Current artists express their own creative visions
and use their ideas to suggest progressive directions for others to follow. The rejection
and breakdown of all traditional guidelines unleashed complete freedom across
present dimensions, including melody, rhythm, and chord progression. Some of the
new musichas been rejected, but some of it has been integrated creating new styles of
music. Suzie Berndt states in her Musical Time Periods: The Modern Period that the
technology and industry of the modern time period facilitated much of the music...

A pre determined series of notes as well as a rigorous progression of the forward,
backward, and inverted presentation of the series led to further development of the
techniques. Neoclassical music refers to a revival of western European music in the
eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries, also known as the Classical period. The
music is typically emotionally restrained and strives to display similar forms and
textures used by composers such as Haydn and Mozart (393). Lastly, minimalist
music is based on the idea of simple harmonies, constant melodies, and steady pulses
in rhythm. The components of minimalism include the ability to reduce and
simplify, which calls for a lot of repetition within the compositions. According to the
Canadian Music Centre, minimalism emerged in the United States of America
during that 1960s as a reaction against abstract Modernism, particularly in response
to serialism and aleatory. It was originally explored as an improvisatory process and
was intended as a way to create more accessible music. By the 1970s, minimalism
had reached its peak and was in the form which it was best known. It was introduced
to Canada almost immediately after Americans began using the musical style. Static
tonal and modal harmonies, unchanging dynamics, and constantly repeating rhythmic
and melodic patterns were the popular elements of minimalism. The whole idea of
minimalism was driven by the desire to create a less restricted form of music.
Key Observable Artifacts Of Chrysler s Culture
An organization s culture is comprised of three fundamental layers: observable
artifacts, espoused values, and basic assumptions. Observable artifacts consist of
the physical manifestation of an organization s culture. A few examples of these
artifacts are acronyms, manner of dress, awards, stories about the organization,
and published lists of values (K K). A key observable artifact of Chrysler s culture
is the story of Peter Fong. When the U.S. Government was offering up to $4,500 in
cash for clunkers rebates; Mr. Fong, Chrysler s sales chief devised a plan to offer
an additional $4,500 from Chrysler. Mr. Fong s plan of doubling rebates to gain
higher sales is the type of culture which led Chrysler to lower profit margins. This
type of business strategy is exactly what Mr. Marchionne was trying to change. This
story shows employees Mr. Marchionne s commitment to changing the culture of the
company. Another observable artifact is the weekly managementteam meetings that
also included Fiat executives in Italy through video conference. Mr. Marchionne used
these meeting to inform employees that their margins and vehicle... Show more

Values have five key components. They are concepts of beliefs, pertain to desirable
end states or behaviors, transcend situations, guide selection or evaluation of
behavior and events, and are ordered by relative importance (Kreitner Kinicki,
2013). Many researchers believe that when employees share organizational values,
they feel more loyal, dedicated, identify more strongly with the organization and are
less likely to leave (Khandelwal Mohendra, 2010). An organization s goal is to turn
espoused values into enacted values. Enacted values are the values and norms that
are actually exhibited or converted into employee behavior (Kreitner Kinicki, 2013).
Chrysler s espoused values are innovation, leadership, responsibility and cooperation

5 Drivers Of Sports Research Paper
There are five drivers in the sports world that are keys to understanding which way
sports are moving. The first driver talks about how there s a blurry line between
work and leisure in sports (Gunston, 2004). There is a blurry line because some
sports to some people could be leisurely to them while others it may seem too much
like a job, this is changing the sports we play and the types of people that play each
sport. The second driver explains how consumers wantinstant entertainment when
they are watching sports, which will put tons of pressure on people with sports
related jobs and even the sports industry as a whole. Majority of people that watch
sports want what they are watching to be as interesting as it can be, I d personally
agree because I d say everyone likes seeing an entertaining and electrifying game
rather than something boring that s going to lose your interest. The third driver
speaks about how the media and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I believe this is very similar to sports today. Star sports athletes are the idols for
kids all across the world, if they want to be or not. Sports stars get watched very
closely meaning that any mess up could potentially ruin them as an idol. I feel like
DeMarcus Cousins explains this without words. Boogie is debatable the best center
in the NBA, granted he has what some would call a bad attitude. He has kids looking
up to him wanting to be the same player he is, then he will let his emotions get to him
and do something that many people frown upon. Machosport is the future of sports in
my opinion. Technosport is when winning matters more than everything, even ethics
(Gunston, 2004). To some athletes winning is everything even if you have to cheat to
win. Ethically this is not where sports need to go. We don t need big businesses
running everyone in that association as pawns. I wouldn t enjoy sports if this is what
it came

IT Based Sales Accounting System Analysis
ST. James Clothier is a small clothing store that has one location in small town in
Tennessee. ST. James focuses its services and products to customers that want to
buy high end clothing. This store has been operating for almost 20 years and its
owned by Sally James. Sally and the management team have been using a manual
based sales system. They have decided to switch to an IT based system that they
are going to buy from the software from a local vendor. As an audit senior, I asked
one of my staff auditors to visit ST. James and prepare a narrative summarizing the
features of this newly proposed IT system that is going to be used at the store, another
narrative which describes the existing manual system. Joe, my staff auditor prepared

The use of cloud computing for St James would be cost effective for the company.
However, cloud computing for the sales system for St. James company also comes
with risks. The high risk is from the cyber criminals that can hack the system and
gain access to the sensitive data of the company. This means that hackers can do
what they want with the sales data that can cause serious sales data risks to the
company. Since the company purchased its software from the local vendor, they have
to trust this vendor because the security of the data is at the hands of the vendor.
After reviewing the narratives made by Joe, Betty Watergate asked me to prepare a
memorandum for her that shows what aspects of the current manual sales accounting
system create risks that increase the likelihood of material misstatements in the
financial statements and what features of the proposed IT based sales accounting
system will help minimize the risks of manual based accounting system.

Identifying The Patterns Of Social Acceptance
In the context of parties of people, I was particularly interested in finding the
patterns of social acceptance, and the ways that people incorporate themselves
into groups. An example of such acceptance can be the pattern of individuals who
completely ignore groups around them by staring at their phone; compared to
those who strike conversations with people they haven t met before. Addressed,
also, are ways that people use more passive technique to identify themselves and
how this resembles their social circle. Note taking was taken in two spots with the
overall time of note taking to roughly 1 hour. The first area was the quad. This area
was where the majority of notes were written. I selected this area in particular
because of the traffic during lunch hours. In order to get a good viewing angle of
the quad, I sat under in the southwest corner of the quad and began taking notes.
The other part of my notes were written in a more progressive manner. I
specifically took notes of group patterns during lecture, and regularly would ask
questions focused on such. Finding a correlation between the different questions
asked, and a behavioral response is how I drew my conclusions. I am always
fascinated between how people socialize. This topic is close to my heart because I
was an extreme introvert before my final years of high school. Not being able to just
start a simple conversationbecause of social anxiety is one of the worst feelings
anybody can have, and it takes a lot
How Does Heidegger Break The Meaning Of Humanism
Humanism refers to a series of concepts. In of its meanings humanism is considered
to be a philosophical system consistent with its assertions on ontology, epistemology,
anthropology, education, aesthetics and politics. On the other side, humanism is
viewed as being the totality of a series of questions on nature and also humannature.
The term humanism has had five different meanings throughout the years. The first
meaning focused on the classical works of grammar, history, and poetry. The second
meaning focused on the interests of human beings and the things they believe to be
central. The third meaning, referred to humanism as an approach to reason and
autonomy as basic sides of human existence. The fourth meaning, refers to the use of
reason, skepticism and scientific methods when one is searching for reality and
configuring human community. The fifth and final meaning, refers to the idea that
ethicscan be grasped in autonomy and moral equality.... Show more content on

He rejected the idea of human development. He also rejected perfectionism along
with the metaphysical conceptualization of humanism. His idea of humanism is
shaped in a way that it focuses on the concept of Being. In the end Heidegger did not
break the connection between humanism and philosophy. Heidegger s Letter on
Humanism is in a sense a reply to Sartre s existentialist humanism. Heidegger states
two important points when he rejects Sartre s view of humanism. Firstly, even
though Heidegger starts with Sartre s concept of being he argues that he will revise
the concept without questioning basic but inadequate terms. Secondly, Heidegger
opposes the concept of value proposed by Sartre. He states in response that virtues
are brought to the world by
Similarities Between Han China And Rome
The Roman Empire and Han Empire were two of the strongest civilizations in the
world during period two, while the Roman Empire fell to a much needed trade
network which collapsed, the Han Empire fell to peasant revolts. However the two
dynasties were more similar and ended because of sharing multiple issues including
peasants evading taxes because the government was forced to tax more after ever
expanding and not being able to defend the the newly claimed territory from
attackers. Therefore the two dynasties collapsed during the same time period for
many of the same reasons. The Roman Empirewas in a crisis during 200 CE 600 CE
after splitting in half forming the Byzantine Empire. Because of the amount of
control the Rome possessed during this time, Rome started expanding and quickly
overextended itself. The Han Empire was very powerful and over expanded as well,
but overall the economy started to decrease and left many people traveling to find
jobs and support their families. It didn t help that many rich citizens started to
underpay their workers, which led to a revolt by many peasants.... Show more content

Rome was not able to gather enough money to sustain the defense needed to
protect the empire as a whole. Many peasants were evading the tax collectors and
others like the Church were exempt from paying which also decreased the amount
of tax money that was being earned by the empire. The Han Empire struggled with
that too. Many peasants weren t able to pay and therefore avoided taxes all together.
Others were exempt and many richer people also evaded tax payments to stay as
rich. This caused a massive economic decline in the Han Empire which also hurt the
defenses against long time
The Rise Of The Roman Empire Essay
Constantine was the first Roman Emperor to convert to Christianity. He started his
reign in 307 AD. During this time the Roman Empire was still composed mainly of
pagans. Although the population of Christians was on the rise, in the beginning of
the fourth century, Christians made up only 10 percent of the population in the
Roman Empire. There were approximately five million Christians in the Roman
Empire meaning that they were still the minority (Waldron). His conversion was an
important turning point not only for Christians but also for the Roman Empire as a
whole. Although most Romans still believed in Greco Roman religions,
Constantine decided to become a Christian because he knew that it would be
beneficial for his role as emperor. His conversion was prompted by his desire to end
the tetrarchy structure of the Roman Empire and to become the sole ruler of the
Roman Empire. The story of Constantine s conversion was told through Eusebius of
Caersera. His recount of the story is skewed by his bias. In order to show a more
holistic view of the story I will be comparing his account to the account of another
historian named Andreas AlfoМ€ldi. The comparison will show that Constantine had
other motives for converting to Christianity. Constantine s decision to become a
Christian was influenced by numerous external factors. He emulated the monotheistic
nature of Christianity and used it as the foundation of his reign and used Christianity
to advance his political agenda. When
Proto Pump Inhibitors Essay
Description/Synopsis: Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) are used for the treatment of
gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and Laryngopharyngeal reflux (LPR) due
to their potential to inhibit gastric acid production. Unfortunately, high doses of PPIs
are associated with adverse health outcomes. The use of PPIs has been shown to
affect the absorption of minerals and vitamin like calcium, iron and vitamin B12. Not
only the risk of other severe conditions like hyperparathyroidism, diarrhea and
pneumonia increases upon the long term use of PPIs but the negative effects also
extend to coronary heart disease and atherosclerotic diseases. PPIs reduce the efficacy
of the drug clopidogrel which inhibits platelet activation thereby contributing to

It is further reported to induce atrophic gastritis which can ultimately lead to
gastric carcinoma. Results of study: PPIs are generally considered safe, but initial
studies reported that the short term use of this drug (8 months) was associated
with adverse effects like vomiting/nausea, dizziness, headache, and
hypersensitivity reaction. On the basis of these observations, thereafter, several
studies unraveled potential long term effects of PPI therapy. The studies reveal
that upon intake of PPIs calcium absorption efficiency decreases by 41% in elderly
women. It is shown that odds ratio for hip fracture increase with the intake of PPIs
over subsequent years from 1.22 at one year, 1.41 at two years, 1.54 at three years
to 1.59 at four years. A significant difference in the value was seen between men
and women and the odds ratio was analyzed to be 1.78 vs 1.36, respectively. A study
further showed the increment in the odds ratio to 1.62 and 1.92 respectively upon the
use of PPIs for 5 and 7 years, respectively. The OR for Vitamin B12 deficiency
associated with the use of PPIs for above a year was

  • 2. Porter s Five Forces Model ANSWER Porter s five forces model describes 5 components. Buyer power, supplier power, threat of substitute products or services, threat of new entrants and rivalry among existing competitors. Using this scenario, I will explain every of these components. Is clear that AT T is one of the few suppliers of telephony, given to them high supplier power. This condition gives them the ability, among others, to charging higher prices, limiting quality or services, and more importantly in this scenario, shifting cost to industry participants, meaning that is more profitable for them bring the accounts in house, and this is possible given the high supplier power. The buyer power, on the other hand, is low, customers doesn t have the power to force company down prices. In this case with AT T taking control of their selling could down prices for the customers removing any chance of increment buyer power. The threat of substitute products or services and the threat of new entrants in this case was managed by AT T, first, eliminating three party contractors and given the possibility directly AT T to know and lure customers in order to increase not only their competitive advantage, but also, their competitive intelligence. Having direct communication with their customers enables AT T to develop new strategies, products and services and avoid new entrants in their business. Also given the rivalry among existing competitors in this industry, AT T found the possibility to interact with
  • 3. Twelfth Night Research Paper Friends; the people whom we know, trust, and love. Friendship is an important part of all our lives, which is why I chose True Friendship is Unconditional Love as my credo. True friends will always support you, have your back, and pick you up when you are down. They are the people who, no matter the circumstances, will stay with you until the very end. Another reason I decided on this credo is because of my friends . They have always been there for me no matter what, through the ups and the downs, the thick and the thin. Without my friends, I would not be the person I am today; they have definitely changed me for the better. Since friendshipis such a valuable aspect of life, it is also a commonly used theme in literature. Twelfth Night, a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Helmut, a white man, insists on being friends with Mark, a black boy, despite the severe apartheid in South Africa. They encounter many obstacles throughout their friendship, including racist and threatening remarks that were directed towards them. Mark explains, We . . . never play[ed] at the same [court] twice in a row. (Mathabane 207) because Racist remarks were thrown at us, (207) proving that the difference between Mark and Helmut s race resulted in their friendship being criticized and judged. People did not believe it was possible for a white man and a black boy to be friends. Furthermore, laws to reinforce apartheid were also in effect at the time. These laws made Mark and Helmut s friendship a danger to themselves: The more black people saw [Mark and Helmut] together, the more they . . . vowed to deal with [Mark] the same way they dealt with other collaborators of the system: death (208). Despite the constant judgement and death threats, Helmut and Mark believed that race should not be a barrier between their friendship. This confirms my statement from earlier that real friends will stay with you no matter what. True friends fight to stay together even when others are opposed to their friendship and attempt to tear them
  • 4. Do Men With Excessive Alcohol Consumption And Social... Many current studies are being done on the topic of addictive personalities. This has been a debatable topic over the years. In this article, researchers are analyzing the men who had consumed excessive amount of alcohol vs. those in a controlled population. The main objective of this article, is to provide the statistical information, as to rather or not men who consumes alcohol have different personalities to those who are under a controlled population. Questions to be determined are: Do men with excessive alcohol consumption and social stability have an addictive personality versus those who are in a controlled set population? Are there any hidden traits that could cause addictive personalities? Are there any specific personality patterns in those who excessively drink? To evaluate both sets, they were separated into groups or into multidimensional typologies. The males who excessively drink (n=100) and those in a controlled population (n=131). The heavy drinkers were then recruited by advertisement in a regional daily newspaper, while the controlled group was based Swedish Twin Registry. These personalities were then assessed by the Karolinska scales of personalities (KSP). Which were then compared with the normative data. To investigate further, the researchers then used a multivariate projection based approach to look for any hidden structures of traits and any relationships within the groups of heavy drinkers vs. the controlled population to see what would be
  • 5. Shaun White Research Paper When Olympic snowboarders step up to the top of the half pipe to perform, the pressure is on because they know the world is watching. Even under this pressure Shaun White has three Olympic snowboarding gold medals. This makes him the most decorated Olympic snowboarder of all time ( Shaun White Olympic ). As Shaun Whitecompetes, he inspires people from around the world to be the best they can be. In general, when Shaun White was a baby he had to undergo two surgeries because of a heart defect. He overcame this obstacle and soon began to skateboard, ski, surf, and play soccer. Shaun White took up snowboarding at the age of six to copy his older brother ( Shaun White Olympic ). White s thick mop of red hair at Turin is what got home the nickname the Flying Tomato . When Shaun competed at Turin he took the gold with two 1080 airs spins on the front side of the pipe and a backside 900 scoring a 46.8. Even after this gold medal Shaun wasn t finished showing the world. In the 2010 Vancouver Winter Games Shaun stole the gold with his latest signature move, a double McTwist 1260 ( Shaun White ). Unfortunately in 2014 he underperformed in 2014 at the Sochi winter games scoring fourth and withdrawing from the slopestyle due to poor course conditions. • 6. Stereotypes In Family Guy When people think of domestic jobs they think of jobs that give low pay, are labor intensive, have no benefits, require no degree work to carry out, and are worked by minorities. While these perceptions for the most part are true; the negative stigma attached to them is wrong as well as the assumption that only minorities are the ones who work them. Another negative portrayal of Mexicans displayed by the media is that Mexicans only work domestic jobs, but that is not the reality. In the show Family Guywhere they too make fun of ethnic groups regarding their stereotypes they portrays a Mexican woman named Consuela who is the housekeeper of the Griffins the main characters of the show. The image of Consuela shown as the typical Mexican housemaid is one with many negative repercussions. She is shown on many occasions portraying these stereotypes in many other episodes as well. In an article called Mexican Immigrants in the United States the Migration Policy Institute gathered information from the U.S. Census Bureau to show the occupation of jobs that Mexicans have. For the most part Mexicans do have a large portion of their population working in service occupations. Aside from that Mexicans do work in jobs of management, and business which are all jobs that take a higher level of education to obtain. Although the percentage of Mexicans occupying these jobs is low the assumption and stereotyping of all Mexicans assuming they work domestic jobs is something that should not be done because it diminishes the accomplishments of the Mexicans who have obtained those higher paying jobs through hard work. Instead of stereotyping Mexicans by this misconception we should not be judgmental towards them, and be able to recognize their accomplishments of being able to obtain higher paying jobs and breaking that
  • 7. Bromoacetanilide Synthesis a.Discussion of Yields crude, purified, % recovery chemical reasons Synthesis of Stilbene dibromide The experiment yielded a mass of 0.32g of dibromostilbene thus a difference of 0.6g from the theoretical resulting in an 85% yield. A result in less than 100% yield may be due to the solvent used during the filtration process. The solvent could have dissolved some product and thus resulted in the loss of product during filtration. Synthesis of Bromoacetanilide In the synthesis of bromoacetanilide, the crude yield was 0.69g and the purified yield was 0.53g (a difference of 0.26g from the theoretical and resulting in a 67% yield). The recovery of the pure product from the initial crystallization was 77%. The less than 100% yield could have been a result of adding too much hot solvent. Adding too much would result in a solution that is unsaturated and therefore when cooled, some of the product remains dissolved in the solvent. This would cause fewer crystals to recrystallize and decrease the yield. b.Discussion of Physical Properties evidence for correct product Synthesis of Stilbene dibromide The measured melting point of experimental dibromostilbene was 228.0 231.0В°C, a slightly depressed value from the theoretical... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The purpose of recrystallization is purification. Clearly stated by the results, the method worked. After the second recrystallization, the difference in measured and theoretical melting point decreased and the range also decreased (went from 3В°C to 2В°C). A narrow range indicates a more pure product. However, in both recrystallization steps, the melting points were depressed and again, therefore, indicative of impurities disrupting the crystal
  • 8. The Main Causes Of The Missouri Compromise Missouri Compromise 1820 Description As a result of Missouri s request to become a state in the Union, there was much debate over whether the new state would allow slavery or be a free state. In order to appease both sides, Missouri was admitted as a slave state alongside Maine, which became a free state. Causes In the nineteenth century, the United States saw an increase in immigration and reproduction rates which evidently led to an expanding population; as the population of an area grew, the area would become qualified to apply for statehood, as seen by Missouri. The main cause for conflict, however, stems from the differing cultures and economies of the North and the South, where the South needed slaves but the North did not. Impact The Missouri Compromise helped alleviate tensions between the two regions for a few decades, with the balance of states and the imaginary line drawn. However, the Missouri Compromise led to increased regionalism as the different areas began to see themselves as separate. Nullification Crisis 1832 Description South Carolina, displeased with the recent developments on tariffs, held a convention and declared the tariff void. In response, President Jackson authorized force of arms, if necessary, in order to collect the tariffs. Causes One main cause of the Nullification Crisis was the Tariffs of Abominations, passed to protect the American industry after the War of 1812. Branching from that cause is regionalism; the Southerners stated that

  • 10. The Best Advice That I Ever Received From A Mentor Of Mine... The best advice that I ever received from a mentor of mine was that instead of trying to be the best at something you should instead focus on being a well rounded person. That is the way that I have tried to live my life and it has led me to great success thus far. This is the primary reason why I support students taking classes outside of their major. It leads to much more well rounded adults who are knowledgeable in many different subject areas. Even though it may not be that enjoyable, taking classes outside of your major introduces you to a wide range of knowledge. Socially it helps you interact with a wide range of people in all kinds of different social settings. You are able to speak intelligently to many different people about a plethora of different subjects. Additionally, it is important to consider that a majority of people choose a major based on what they are good at and are interested in. For many people math classes are very challenging. If we left those people to their own devices they would probably never take a math class again. Now math is obviously a very important skill regardless of your future career choice and it s a class that everyone should take. Even if it may not be that enjoyable. • 12. Taking a Look at Intrusion Detection Intrusion Detection Intrusion detection is similar in concept to a burglar alarm on a car. There is the lock system to prevent access to a car, similar to a firewall, and there is the alarm system, the intrusion detection system. Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) are there to compliment the network or computers firewall, if or when there is a breach, it is the IDS that is able to identify it and then alert the administrator. Firewalls are an effective way for filtering information coming in to your network from the internet and are a good source of protection, but there are ways to circumvent a firewall which could leave you defenseless. An IDS monitors the firewall for breaches and also monitors the traffic on the organizations network for any anomalies. This is important in the instance of an external user connecting to an organizations infrastructure by connecting through an installed modem on the network, this form of attack cannot be caught by a firewall but an IDS is able to recognize the abnormal activity and report the intrusion to an administrator. Intrusion detection systems are there to help an information system prepare for and deal with attacks. They collect information from a variety of system and network sources and then analyze the information and activity logs searching for information on potential security problems. Some of the main tasks of an IDS are to monitor and analyze the user and system activity on a network, to audit the systems

The Sixth Sense is about a child psychologist Dr. Malcolm, who tries to help a child defeat his dark secret. I think this movie is a prime example of using literary devices such as, foreshadowing and symbolism within the script. I really enjoyed this filmfor these reasons and would recommend it everyone. There are many instances in which these devices are used in the film, some are much more noticeable than the others. The biggest aspect of foreshadowing used in this movie is the fact that Malcolm only interacts with Cole during the entire movie after his death. This is something that is hard to notice on the first time you watch this film. This aspect gives the film high replay value. When Malcolm is sitting in the living room with Cole s mother the viewer assumes that they are both talking when Cole arrives home from school, when in reality she doesn t even notice Malcolm. When Malcolm attends Cole s plays at his school no one asks him why he s there or anything at all. My favorite example of this is, there are other parents recording the play and are sitting directly behind Malcolm. If they were able to see him, Malcolm would be in the way of the shot. The other parents see right through him because he is dead, I think that this is brilliant foreshadowing for the twist at the end of the film. The temperature change is one of the more obvious uses of foreshadowing in the movie. The temperature dropped in the film when a ghost was upset. A the start of one of the scenes, there is a close up on the thermostat changing to cold by itself. This is foreshadowing on the upset ghosts that are about to visit

Released in the midst of the Cold War, this 1964 film satirizes the heightened tensions between America and Russia. Many sexual insinuations are implemented to ridicule the serious issue of a global nuclear holocaust, in an effort to countervail the terror that plagued America at that time. Organizing principles, such as Kubrick s blunt political attitudes about the absurdity of war and the satirical genre, are echoed by the film style of his anti war black comedy, Dr. Strangelove. College is full of new challenges and opportunities to prepare for the future. Along with harder classes and independance, college is also about socializing with fellow students in an environment in which everyone is always on the move. Having connections can lead to future success within an industry as well as people to communicate with and work with while in college. In high school, it is easy to make connections with people because of the way classschedules work: four classes a day, five days a week. Compared to high school schedules, College schedules are free form, with class number and class type varying by the day, and, as such, it s more difficult to connect with other students. The easiest way to create meaningful connections with other students is by joining a school club. Co curricular organizations are usually more constructive than extracurricular, as co curricular relate to a selected major while extracurricular relate to hobbies. Ideally, it s best to try and find a balance between co curricular and extracurricular clubs. For example, three clubs I, someone dual majoring in computer science and music composition, hope to become involved with during my college career are the game development club, the art club, and Code.life. The game development club is a co curricular club that doubles as an extracurricular club in my case. By joining this club, I

Female Characters In The Hebrew Bible And Medea In the Hebrew Bible, the Book of Genesis and the Greek play Medea, by Euripides, contain female characters that can be seen as complex and have significance and meaning in the text. There are many interpretations involving the female characters, some characters may be portrayed as weak and irrational or strong willed and wise. I will argue that, women are portrayed in the Hebrew Bibleand Medea as irrational and senseless, in order for the men to be portrayed as superior and for women to be seen as inferior. This idea of the female characters being irrational and senseless can be seen in Genesis 4, Genesis 18, Genesis 29, and throughout the Medea play. In the Hebrew Bible, a significant section where this idea can be seen is in the beginning with the story of Adam and Eve, specifically in Genesis 4. When Eve is manipulated to eat the forbidden fruit, it poses the idea that the suffering of humankind was caused by a woman, showing the idea that woman react without consideration or senselessly, when really Eve was only acting on a very human trait, curiosity. When Eve convinces Adam to eat the forbidden fruit, one of gods punishment to Eve is Your man shall be your longing, and rule over you (p.97). Or when God describes Eve as his woman , God is essentially saying she is not her own independent person and is meant to be owned by men. This passage alone shows that women are viewed as people that were meant to be controlled; that men were always meant to be above them.

Everyone wants to be able to concentrate and not have other thoughts in their mind when needed such as in school, work etc... Daydreaming, thinking about what you will eat, about your family, or when you read something and have no idea what you just read, are all examples of mind wandering (Radvansky, Ashcraft 2014). There have been claims stating that mind wandering is lower for low working memory capacity (WMC) subjects (Radvansky, Ashcraft 2014). This ideal is so valued that it is within the first amendment of the Constitution of the United States Bill of Rights. Today still, a free press is often used as a measurement of the freedom and democratic strength of a state, and is considered to be a guardian of the people against democratic erosion or executive aggrandizement. Freedom of the press, however, is not unproblematic. It can seem at many times that state intervention within or restriction of the press, can solve some of the issues of a free press, but neither state control, nor an entirely unconstrained press is perfect for democracy, or protection against the erosion of democracy. While a free press does not guarantee the survival of a democracy, and the degree of freedom may need to be slightly limited, it is without question, that a freer press is more likely to ensure the survival of democracy, than a press that is controlled, or one that is experiences extreme constraints from the government. A large threat to democracy is a press whose freedom is completely limited by the government. It has come at last. . . You ll have to go; but it s a bad way to start on your journey, leaving your jobs undone ( Leaf 107). One is left to guess that death has come at last and poor Niggle is not ready. Lewis, on the other hand clearly conveys that the Ghosts and Solid Ones have died. When one of the ghosts is too ashamed to reveal herself, she exclaims, I d rather die (Great, 60), and the Solid One responds, But you ve died already. There s no good trying to go back to that (Great, 61). Lewis, unlike Tolkien, boldly pronounces his characters unhappy state time and time

As Jews began to immigrate to the newly formed state, they brought with them distinctive cultural values and traditions that shifted Israel from a more homogenized community into a definite melting pot . Significant waves of Jews came from Europe, the Middle East, Asia, Africa and even North America. The impact each of these groups had on Israeli society differed from group to group. Two of the most recent waves of immigrants to Israel came from Ethiopia and the former Soviet Union. Both groups changed the dynamic of Israeli society in ways previous groups had not. In Israel today there are 125,500 Ethiopian Jews. This constitutes 1.75% of the total population and makes Israel home to the largest Ethiopian Jewish community. This group lived predominantly in the North and Northwestern parts of Ethiopia and can trace its origins back to biblical times, when many Jews migrated to Ethiopia following the exile of Jews in Egypt. According to tradition, in the 4th century CE this group was pressured to convert to Christianity and refused. They became known by the term Beta Israel , meaning house of Israel . In modern times, they have lived among Christian and Muslim communities in Ethiopia. In the 20th century, Beta Israel renewed contracts with other Jewish communities. • 36. The Role Of Political System On Administrative Law And... St. Louis University v Masonic Temple is a classic example that highlights the role of political system in administrative law and judicial decision making. One cannot ignore or underestimate the role politics can play in decision making. The financial routes through which funding programs operate have an underlying political will and motivations and courts give effect to it through favorable decisions. In this case, the city had passed an ordinance to establish the necessary Tax Increment Financing or TIF assistance for the arena and other redevelopment projects. The ordinance expressly stated that the lawmakers believed that St. Louis University (SLU) continues to serve as invaluable educational and cultural entities within the area raising the question of political backing in awarding the TIF only to St. Louis University. If the court ruled against not only St. Louis University but the St. Louis politicians (who expressed an explicit interest in awarding the TIF to SLU), there would have been a major political fallout. Interestingly, courts in such cases tweak and interpret the law to appease both the political entities and the public even in the face of blatant violation of the law. It is pertinent to understand the reasoning behind why courts on multiple occasions decide in favor of churches/religious institutions despite blatant violation of law. Administrators and law makers respond not only to what the law demands but to other environmental demands that exert

Correlation and regression analysis allows us to determine the strength of a linear relationship, the direction of a linear movement, and if a relationship exists between two variables (Donnelly, 2013). In this scenario, a student intern noticed a possible correlation between the customer s satisfaction and the total amount of the bill. The intern decided to collect 100 customer satisfaction surveys and match each of them with the corresponding total bill. The intern wants to use the collected data to develop a hypothesis, conduct a test for correlation, and develop a prediction equation for customer satisfaction. I will assist the student intern by developing an appropriate hypothesis for the data collected, conducting a test for correlation, developing a prediction equation for customer satisfaction, and analyzing the results to better inform the owners. Correlation and regression analysis will tell us if a relationship exists between customer satisfaction and the total amount of the bill and it will tell us the strength of the relationship. Currently we are unsure if there is a relationship between the two variables, so we need to develop a hypothesis and determine the correlation coefficient. Since we are only looking to see if there is a relationship between the two variables, we will create a hypothesis that answers this question. The null hypothesiswill be that the population correlation coefficient equals 0 and the alternative hypothesis will be that the

A child can mature a lot quicker when they are placed in an environment where they have to take care of themselves to survive. When tragedy struck, Pharaoh didn t want to know. He continued to tell his mother he was too young to comprehend it all, as if he were trying to prolong his childhood (Kotlowitz 216). Both boys did recognized at an early age that death occurs frequently in their neighborhood. They had several friends die and they were reminded of this every time gunfire went off outside the apartment. Pharaoh tried to maintain his childhood the best he could and excelled in school as a coping mechanism. Lafeyette, at thirteen, acted as a parent to fill his mother s role when she was out. Players spend 80 minutes pretending they re not hurt, whereas soccer players spend 90 minutes pretending they are hurt in an attempt to draw fouls. In Rugby a small 5 6 player is just as important as a 6 5 gargantuan. People may have heard of Rugby before or even witnessed a game, but do they really know what it is and how it s played? My interest for this topic came to me during my first semester at the University of Kansas, when I realized a club team on the rise. Each individual culture, past and present, has stories and myths concerning the various features of the night sky and the constantly moving celestial objects which reside there. There are creation stories which try to explain where the Earthand the numerous stars came from. There are other stories whcih take on a less grand task and only try to explain a single celestial object. Some believe that the stars and the Earth are intertwined and the motions or strange appearances of objects directly relate to what is happening on the Earth. There are also beliefs that the stars and night sky are the Heavens viewable from Earth, where everything must be perfect. If things were not perfect in the Heavens, such as a new star appearing in the sky due to a supernova occurring light years away, some cultures would take this as a bad omen. In ancient China for example, the Emperor was responsible for what happened on Earth as well as what happened in the Heavens, so if a new star appeared unannounced then a competing group vying for control could use that change to try to alter the existing balance of power. In other places such as medieval Europe even suggesting the Heavens were not perfect could land someone under arrested from, at the time, all powerful Catholic Church. The rejection and breakdown of all traditional guidelines unleashed complete freedom across present dimensions, including melody, rhythm, and chord progression. Neoclassical music refers to a revival of western European music in the eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries, also known as the Classical period. The music is typically emotionally restrained and strives to display similar forms and textures used by composers such as Haydn and Mozart (393). Lastly, minimalist music is based on the idea of simple harmonies, constant melodies, and steady pulses in rhythm. The components of minimalism include the ability to reduce and simplify, which calls for a lot of repetition within the compositions. According to the Canadian Music Centre, minimalism emerged in the United States of America during that 1960s as a reaction against abstract Modernism, particularly in response to serialism and aleatory. It was originally explored as an improvisatory process and was intended as a way to create more accessible music. By the 1970s, minimalism had reached its peak and was in the form which it was best known. It was introduced to Canada almost immediately after Americans began using the musical style. Static tonal and modal harmonies, unchanging dynamics, and constantly repeating rhythmic and melodic patterns were the popular elements of minimalism. The whole idea of minimalism was driven by the desire to create a less restricted form of music.

Although the population of Christians was on the rise, in the beginning of the fourth century, Christians made up only 10 percent of the population in the Roman Empire. There were approximately five million Christians in the Roman Empire meaning that they were still the minority (Waldron). His conversion was an important turning point not only for Christians but also for the Roman Empire as a whole. Although most Romans still believed in Greco Roman religions, Constantine decided to become a Christian because he knew that it would be beneficial for his role as emperor. His conversion was prompted by his desire to end the tetrarchy structure of the Roman Empire and to become the sole ruler of the Roman Empire. The story of Constantine s conversion was told through Eusebius of Caersera. His recount of the story is skewed by his bias. In order to show a more holistic view of the story I will be comparing his account to the account of another historian named Andreas AlfoМ€ldi. The comparison will show that Constantine had other motives for converting to Christianity. Constantine s decision to become a Christian was influenced by numerous external factors. He emulated the monotheistic nature of Christianity and used it as the foundation of his reign and used Christianity to advance his political agenda. When
  • 54. Proto Pump Inhibitors Essay Description/Synopsis: Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) are used for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and Laryngopharyngeal reflux (LPR) due to their potential to inhibit gastric acid production. Unfortunately, high doses of PPIs are associated with adverse health outcomes. The use of PPIs has been shown to affect the absorption of minerals and vitamin like calcium, iron and vitamin B12. Not only the risk of other severe conditions like hyperparathyroidism, diarrhea and pneumonia increases upon the long term use of PPIs but the negative effects also extend to coronary heart disease and atherosclerotic diseases. PPIs reduce the efficacy of the drug clopidogrel which inhibits platelet activation thereby contributing to coronary heart disease and myocardial... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is further reported to induce atrophic gastritis which can ultimately lead to gastric carcinoma. Results of study: PPIs are generally considered safe, but initial studies reported that the short term use of this drug (8 months) was associated with adverse effects like vomiting/nausea, dizziness, headache, and hypersensitivity reaction. On the basis of these observations, thereafter, several studies unraveled potential long term effects of PPI therapy. The studies reveal that upon intake of PPIs calcium absorption efficiency decreases by 41% in elderly women. It is shown that odds ratio for hip fracture increase with the intake of PPIs over subsequent years from 1.22 at one year, 1.41 at two years, 1.54 at three years to 1.59 at four years. A significant difference in the value was seen between men and women and the odds ratio was analyzed to be 1.78 vs 1.36, respectively. A study further showed the increment in the odds ratio to 1.62 and 1.92 respectively upon the use of PPIs for 5 and 7 years, respectively. The OR for Vitamin B12 deficiency associated with the use of PPIs for above a year was
