2. The Steel Ministry is in the process of
facilitating the set up of special purpose
vehicles (SPVs) with mineral-rich states of
Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and
Karnataka.

3. Besides, state-owned iron ore miner NMDC's
wholly-owned steel plant in Nagarnar
(Chhattisgarh), which is being set up with an
investment of Rs 15,525 crore, will be
operational by December 2016.

4. The minister added that NMDC Steel, which is
being developed by the state-owned iron ore
miner, will produce 3 million tonnes per
annum (MTPA) of steel.

5. Chhattisgarh development is directly related to
the proper utilization of the state’s natural
resources.

6. One of the reasons for a higher per capital
consumption of steel in developed countries is
due to higher level of infrastructure and
industrial development as compared to
developing countries.

7. The construction of these industries only
will lead to the whole industrial

8. The newly constructed steel plant will
have production capacity of 3 MTPA with
the likely date of commissioning as
December 2016.

Institute of Information Technology campus
at Naya Raipur in Chhattisgarh.

11. Spread over 50 acres of land, the
ultra-modern campus is jointly built by
Chhattisgarh government and NTPC at a
cost of Rs 200 crore in the upcoming state
capital- Naya Raipur.

12. There was an announcement to set up an
innovation lab regarding the Chhattisgarh
development - Scientific Research Centre - in
the IIIT campus within next two years where
the students will get an opportunity to take up
research and innovation projects of their
interest.
