InsuraCorp provides various financial products and services through different business units that had historically operated independently. A new CEO is now emphasizing cross-selling products across units. However, one issue that arose during integration efforts was a lack of consistent and accurate product description data across systems from different units, making cross-selling difficult. InsuraCorp also found that the same client could be represented differently or even duplicated across the various legacy systems of each business unit. To address these data quality issues and better integrate information to support cross-selling, InsuraCorp recently consolidated its previously decentralized IT organization under a new Chief Information Officer to develop enterprise-wide systems, standards, and governance.
