In 1951, Khrystynopil was renamed to Chervonograd, where the first coal mine in the Lviv-Volyn Basin was established in 1952, fueling a coal mining and processing industry that still largely defines the industrial character of the town. Currently home to around 82,000 people, Chervonograd contains 14 secondary schools, 2 vocational schools, and a mining technical school, supporting its identity as a cultural and educational center for the region alongside active religious communities. As a border town with historical monuments, Chervonograd remains an attractive place to live and visit.
