This document discusses several theories about the origins of human language:
1) A divine source - some believe language was directly given by God.
2) A natural sound source - known as the "bow-wow" theory, early words imitated natural sounds like animal calls. However, this cannot explain abstract concepts.
3) A social interaction source - the "yo-he-ho" theory that language developed from sounds made during group activities. While social, this does not fully explain the origins of language.
4) A physical adaptation source - human anatomical features like our larynx position evolved for improved speech production. However, tool use may have been a greater driving factor.
