1.People’s resistance, as many
employees were asked to resign.
2.A dent in the Brand name TCS.
3.Legal issues in downsizing.
Advantages of the Change
1.Reduce the work force by weeding out the non-performers.
2.Cost cutting, by terminating people in the middle and senior levels.
3. Can recruit more fresh hires in the place of senior ones and save on salary.
Organizational Restructuring
Steps Undertaken
1.Decision taken by senior management and HR team.
2.Brief Information was given to various media houses about the plan.
3.Directly started firing people with a short notice period of 3 months.
Reasons for Failure
1.Failure to foresee the downsizing plan and recruited in large numbers
2.People were not being made aware for the reason for the change.
3.Did not take necessary steps to carry out the downsizing process smoothly.
4. Creation of organizational plateauing.
5.Lack of Learning & growth activities from employee side.
