Neotys organized its first Performance Advisory Council in Scotland, the 14th & 15th of November.
With 15 Load Testing experts from several countries (UK, France, New-Zeland, Germany, USA, Australia, India…) we explored several theme around Load Testing such as DevOps, Shift Right, AI etc.
By discussing around their experience, the methods they used, their data analysis and their interpretation, we created a lot of high-value added content that you can use to discover what will be the future of Load Testing.

Machine Learning is more than merely about predicting the future. Typically, the goal of a data science project is to take actions in order to optimize future outcomes. This gives rise to problems which are essentially more difficult than standard prediction. Even though literature on outcome determination and causality has been around for years, apparently many data science projects ignore these issues. In this talk we will bridge the gap between prediction and driving actions using some real world examples. We will review challenges and pitfalls, demonstrate how some can be solved while others can be avoided. We will discuss the need for randomized studies, and suggest alternatives for cases where this is not feasible. Finally, we will review existing literature on these topic and suggest new directions of both practical and theoretical nature.
We often want to know if our product will work as expected in our customers environment. Creating an environmental test plan that clearly shows weaknesses and strengths should be part of your program for each product.
Let’s explore the steps and resources you should consider when creating an environmental test plan for each product.
We will discuss why using standards or even the plan from the last program may not provide you meaningful information. Understanding how your product responds to your customer’s environment provides the information for your team to make improvements and improve product reliability.
More a discussion than a lecture, let’s talk about the challenges and benefits to creating a unique environmental test plan for each product under development.

This is a concept I devised a couple of years ago, and it seems there is a new #NoEstimates audience that would like to know more about it.
A Slicing Heuristic is essentially:
An explicit policy that describes how to "slice" work Just-In-Time to help us create consistency, a shared language for work and better predictability.
The Slicing Heuristic seeks to replace deterministic estimation rituals by incorporating empirical measurement of actual cycle times for the various types of work in your software delivery lifecycle.
It is based on the hypothesis that empiricism leads to smaller cycle time duration and variation (which in business value terms means quicker time to market and better predictability) because it requires work to be sliced into clear, simple, unambiguous goals. Crucially, the heuristic also describes success criteria to ensure it is achieving the level of predictability we require.
Its application is most effective when used for all levels of work, but can certainly be used for individual work types. For example, a User Story heuristic can be an extremely effective way of creating smaller, simpler work increments, allowing teams to provide empirical forecasts without the need for estimating how long individual stories will take. However, if you are able to incorporate this concept from the portfolio level down, the idea is that you define each work type (e.g. Program, Project, Feature, User Story, etc.) along with a Slicing Heuristic, which forms part of that work type’s Definition of Ready.

The design of experiments (DOE, DOX, or experimental design) is the design of any task that aims to describe and explain the variation of information under conditions that are hypothesized to reflect the variation.
The term is generally associated with experiments in which the design introduces conditions that directly affect the variation, but may also refer to the design of quasi-experiments, in which natural conditions that influence the variation are selected for observation.
In its simplest form, an experiment aims at predicting the outcome by introducing a change of the preconditions, which is represented by one or more independent variables, also referred to as "input variables" or "predictor variables."
The change in one or more independent variables is generally hypothesized to result in a change in one or more dependent variables, also referred to as "output variables" or "response variables."

Enterprise Excellence is Inclusive Excellence.pdfKaiNexus
Enterprise excellence and inclusive excellence are closely linked, and real-world challenges have shown that both are essential to the success of any organization. To achieve enterprise excellence, organizations must focus on improving their operations and processes while creating an inclusive environment that engages everyone. In this interactive session, the facilitator will highlight commonly established business practices and how they limit our ability to engage everyone every day. More importantly, though, participants will likely gain increased awareness of what we can do differently to maximize enterprise excellence through deliberate inclusion.
What is Enterprise Excellence?
Enterprise Excellence is a holistic approach that's aimed at achieving world-class performance across all aspects of the organization.
What might I learn?
A way to engage all in creating Inclusive Excellence. Lessons from the US military and their parallels to the story of Harry Potter. How belt systems and CI teams can destroy inclusive practices. How leadership language invites people to the party. There are three things leaders can do to engage everyone every day: maximizing psychological safety to create environments where folks learn, contribute, and challenge the status quo.
Who might benefit? Anyone and everyone leading folks from the shop floor to top floor.

Unveiling the Secrets How Does Generative AI Work.pdfSam H
At its core, generative artificial intelligence relies on the concept of generative models, which serve as engines that churn out entirely new data resembling their training data. It is like a sculptor who has studied so many forms found in nature and then uses this knowledge to create sculptures from his imagination that have never been seen before anywhere else. If taken to cyberspace, gans work almost the same way.

Cracking the Workplace Discipline Code Main.pptxWorkforce Group
Cultivating and maintaining discipline within teams is a critical differentiator for successful organisations.
Forward-thinking leaders and business managers understand the impact that discipline has on organisational success. A disciplined workforce operates with clarity, focus, and a shared understanding of expectations, ultimately driving better results, optimising productivity, and facilitating seamless collaboration.
Although discipline is not a one-size-fits-all approach, it can help create a work environment that encourages personal growth and accountability rather than solely relying on punitive measures.
In this deck, you will learn the significance of workplace discipline for organisational success. You’ll also learn
• Four (4) workplace discipline methods you should consider
• The best and most practical approach to implementing workplace discipline.
• Three (3) key tips to maintain a disciplined workplace.
Personal Brand Statement:
As an Army veteran dedicated to lifelong learning, I bring a disciplined, strategic mindset to my pursuits. I am constantly expanding my knowledge to innovate and lead effectively. My journey is driven by a commitment to excellence, and to make a meaningful impact in the world.
2. How Long Should My Test Run???
• The data rate (number of conversions per
day)
• Size of improvements found (Percentage
Improvement)
• Size of your test (Number of alternative
designs)
• The confidence in your answer ( How sure you
need to be )
3. Data Rate
• The data rate decribes how quickly you collect
data during your test.
• The volume of traffic for landing page
optimization tests is best measured in the
number of conversion actions per day ( and
not the number of unique visitors).
• You can decrease the size of the test. This can
be done by decreasing the granularity of your
test elements.
4. Size of Improvements Found
• If you have managed to uncover a clearly
superior version of your landing page, the performance improvement would quickly become
apparent.
• often, an initial round of changes will fix some of
the obvious problems and improve performance
significantly.
• Since you do not know the size of the possible
improvements ahead of tme, the length of the
time required for the tuning test may vary
signifantly.
5. Size of your Test
• The size of your test can be measured by the size
of the search space that you are considering.
• The search space is the whole universe of the
alternative designs possible in your test.
• A simple head to head test has a search space
size of 2 ( the originl, and the alternative landing
page version that you are testing.)
• If you are testing multiple elements on the page,
you need to multiply together the number of
alternative versions for each one.
6. Variable Interactions
• When the setting for one variable in your test
positively or negatively influences the setting of
another variable is variable interaction.
• If they have no effect then they are said to be
independent.
• In a positive interaction, 2 variables create a
synergistic effect.
• In a negative interaction, 2 variables undercut
each other and cancel out some of the individual
effects.
