REQUIREMENTS TO BECOME A CFA
CHARTERHOLDER
The CFA Institute requires three steps to become a CFA charter holder. They include:


Pass all three levels of the CFA exam in succession



Acquire 48 months of "acceptable professional work experience“



Join the CFA Institute, which includes completing a professional conduct statement and affiliate with a

WHO CAN APPLY?
To meet the entrance requirements:
 Have a bachelor's (or equivalent) degree
 or be in the final year of your bachelor's degree program at the time of registration
 or have four years of professional work experience (does not have to be investment related)
 or have a combination of professional work and college experience that totals at least four years. Part-time
positions do not qualify, and the four-year total must be accrued prior to enrollment.

 Make sure you understand the Professional Conduct Statement and Candidate Responsibility Statement.
 Be prepared to take the exams in English.
 Have a valid international travel passport (required for exam registration and admission to the test
center).

WHICH BOOKS, COURSES SHOULD I
FOLLOW?

The candidate body of knowledge (CBOK) tests candidates on ethics, quantitative analysis, financial
statement analysis, economics, portfolio analysis, corporate finance and the analysis of stocks, bonds and
alternative investments.
• CFA Program Curriculum - a lot of materials divided into 18 study sessions. 6 books.
• Schweser – 6 books, 5 of them are Study materials, the last one – is a test book.
WHAT SHOULD BE MY STUDY PLAN?

• Start reading the study books 6 months before the exam day. At the same time prepare the brief notes.
• Finish your material 3 months before the exam day. And start to review your notes. If you read CFA
Program Curriculum, you may review all the materials using Schweser books.
• 1 month before exam date do tests intensively. You should be prepared for a 3 hour exam.
• 1 week before the exam day look through your self-made notes again.
