Cancer of the Cervix is a rare type of Cancer
often Diagnosed in younger women.
There are two main types :
• Squamous Cell Carcinoma
• Adenocarcinoma

• Between 25-60
years old you
should have a smear
test every 5 years.
• A small sample of
cells are taken from
your cervix and sent
to a laboratory.

• Abnormal Bleeding
• Unusual Heavy
Discharge
• Pelvic Pain
• Pain During
Urination
6. Survival Rates
• Due to more women getting regular smears
the number of deaths has decreased
dramatically.
• Around 64% of women survive the disease
beyond five years after diagnosis.
8. Aftercare
• The main purpose is to check the return of
cancer.
• Follow-up appointments every 3 – 4 months.
• Once or twice a year after that.
• Physical therapy or home care may also be
included.
