and operations of the Company. The comparative, ratio analysis is widely used for analyzing the
financial statements. It is a systematic use of ratios to interpret the financial statements so that
the strengths and weakness of the Company is determined. The analysis is done in order to know
vi
about the financial position of the Company.
Chapter 1 consisted of Profile of the company. HDFC Standard Life was incorporated on 14th
August 2000.HDFC Life, one of India's leading private life insurance companies, offers a range
of individual and group insurance solutions. It is a joint venture between Housing Development
Finance Corporation Limited (HDFC), India's leading housing finance institution and Standard
Life plc, the leading provider of financial services in the United Kingdom.
Chapter 2 consisted of SWOT Analysis of HDFC Life .For conducting SWOT analysis the
researcher found various strengths which enables a firm to live in a competitive world. He also
found weaknesses on which a firm has to work .There were some opportunities and threats also
discussed.
In Chapter-3 there were two parts i.e. in 3A it consisted of data collection of various
departments, what are the things done in the Company by various departments and 3B was all
about data presentation and interpretation i.e. it consists of graphical presentation of the ratios
calculated by the researcher and its interpretation.
Chapter-4 consisted of Functional Analysis of HDFC Life for doing functional analysis of
HDFC Life the researcher had analyzed finance, Marketing, HR, IT department in which the
company operates .The chapter also analyses the various ratios presented in chapter3.
Chapter-5 consisted of Summary and Conclusion .In this the researcher has found out the results
of the study. Findings and conclusion was drawn in this chapter. The researcher describes about
the lessons learnt in respect of working environment, practical knowledge gained and uniqueness
about the company. Lastly the researcher has provided the suggestions whether the students
should be further send to the company or not. The Company should concentrate on enhancing the
operating efficiency of the Company. From this study it was found that the funds are used for
short term funds which should be avoided. The Company’s liquidity position is not satisfactory
due to more concentrate on raising the fixed assets rather than operating activities, which
decreases working capital of the Company and which also affects the operational efficiency of
vii
the Company and the liquidity position
